2.0 out of 5 stars Poor fare, 19 Jun 2014
Mystifying why episodes selected are from '49 & '50 - feeble comedy and very US-orientated: Joy Nichols (not a fan) - an Australian with an American accent, American music, American sketches... too tedious. It's just absurd not to include shows post-1953, when TIFH came into its own with the addition of June Whitfield, Alma Cogan... and, of course, The Glums,

Typical of the Scrooge-like BBC to charge over 13 quid for four shows - there are over 150 shows available, downloadable (from various sources) for less than 5. Shame on you BBC! All BBC archive radio broadcasts should be freely available, as is US vintage radio which is mostly found on archive.org

5.0 out of 5 stars Darling darling darling!, 3 Jun 2014
I have great affection for this 1942 Temple - wonderful music, Carl Bernard's and Bernadette Hodgson's exquisite pronunciation, and lots of theatrical fun. Every time I hear a BBC radio drama from the 40s-50s I mourn the loss of hundreds of shows - the downright carelessness of the BBC for not having the foresight to record live broadcasts, it's no less than cultural vandalism.

Can't understand why some people are moaning about audio quality - it's extremely good quality, far superior to many recordings of the period and better than many 50s recordings. Broadcasts were recorded onto shellac, not tape. So stop whining.

5.0 out of 5 stars Daylight robbery, 17 April 2014
It's absolutely outrageous that each of these three series should be selling at 25. My advice is to download a high quality torrent (assuming you bypass network blocks first) and enjoy the wonderfulness of the journey without paying extortionate prices.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy - it's fake, 12 Feb 2014
The install disc is defective. The first three (interminably long) attempts at Windows 7 instillation failed (loud whirring, banging, scraping noises lasting for several minutes not usually associated with instillation discs) causing my laptop to hang in the process. Only on the fourth attempt did it install. Even then it's a defective instillation - Easycap captures video, but without sound and a permanent recording 'error'.

I used Easycap via Virtualdub capture without any problem with the audio or recording - so Easycap is defective in both instillation and software.

I emailed Honestech:
"It appears that a customized version of our software, originally developed by Honest Technology, was bundled with the hardware you purchased. The included software you are referring to, has been modified by the hardware manufacturer to work with their respective hardware device."

In other words, it's a fake.

And don't even bother trying it on XP. The disc is not even recognised.

1.0 out of 5 stars Misleading price, 16 Aug 2013
Just over 4? That's very good... It's only when you go through all the purchasing hoops that you realise there's a further 6 P&P to pay. This sort of deviousness - putting the bulk of the cost on packaging to make items more appealing - makes me sick. Best to look at more buying options instead of buying directly from Amazon - it's cheaper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 25 May 2013
Can plug in my USB soundcard, mobile broadband dongle and Tablet (non of which worked on other cheapo hubs) as well as the usual data sticks without any problems. Switches are ideal.

This is cheaper on Ebay. And, of course, you can buy it outright - no messing about with stupid Amazon `add ons'

1.0 out of 5 stars 10 out of 10 for hype, 18 April 2013
Had high hopes for this. Problem is a slow leak from copper water pipe amounting to a quarter cup-full a day - hardly an emergency plumbing job. Sprayed the thing four times with no effect whatsoever... still get my quarter cup-full. 10/10 for hype and a big ZERO for effectiveness.

1.0 out of 5 stars Junk... only suitable for basic flash keys and a mouse, 2 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Plugged in my phone/Tablet... connection resulted in an unresponsive device and sent the display into a crazy chaotic flickering from one screen to another. USB Mobile Broadband also does not work through this.

2.0 out of 5 stars Watts? Where's the Watts?, 15 Mar 2013
Just to make it clear - I haven't bought these speakers. I was tempted too, but in the product description nowhere does it state the output in Watts - I'm not bothered how LOUD thy are. I had to make a tedious internet search to discover that they're 5 Watts. Obviously, that's not very impressive. So rather than give this info, Altec prefer to shout about decibels.

Replaces a 5ft telescopic aerial that was sticking up at the back of the TV... No more ` no information' randomness in seven day EPG. Great value.
