Orientation (Gunnerkrigg Court, Vol. 1)
Orientation (Gunnerkrigg Court, Vol. 1)
by Thomas Siddell
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent read; great introduction for young readers, with plenty of interest for older readers, 27 Mar 2009
This book collects the first 14 chapters of the webcomic Gunnerkrigg Court - [...] Here, we read of the adventures of the school girls Annie and Kat in the mystical and yet science based world of Gunnerkrigg court. What is the court all about? What happened to Annie's parents? Why are there robots at the court and yet distinct signs of magic? Read on!

Though following Annie and Kat, boys should not be put off reading this comic - plenty here for both sexes. While I think this would make excellent reading for younger teens, there is plenty here for older readers. I'm 25 and check the website for updates as often as I can.

Be aware that the art style matures from the beginning of the book; this is normal for webcomics which are done over a long period, so the artist's style changes. However, even in the beginning it is good, Tom's art is good, but it is a pleasure to read and see how his style develops.

In summary, I heartily recommends this comic for a light, enjoyable and entertaining read. The book is a lovely size and very high production quality. If you are still not convinced, go and check out the website; if you like it on screen, you won't be disappointed with the paper copy.

Well done Tom - keep up the work!
