3.0 out of 5 stars An interesting read, 9 Oct 2013

As we live near Rochefort and have been to see the building of the Hermione many times, I found this interesting. It felt like a layman's version of history and some of the local colour was a bit shaky, but Lafayette himself was a fascinating man and I would have liked a bit more of his later life as well.

I love Flavia de Luce stories - beautifully written, funny and well plotted. And this is before I've actually read this particular story... Thank you Alan Bradley!

This was a fun read, and I enjoyed it. The first time I've read Julia Quinn, but will look for her again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Or 3 weak men?, 8 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Three Strong Women (Paperback)
Not entirely convinced by the 'strong' women, but it was well written (which came through the translation luckily), and there was a very good feeling for Africa and African women, both in exile and at home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super story for teenagers of whatever age, 8 July 2013

This review is from: Element94 (Paperback)
I thought the plot line was good and the writing made sure you didn't want to put the book down. I was so involved that I got positively claustrophobic in the tunnel sequences, so more power to your arm Barrie Jones!
I'm no teenager, but I still enjoyed it immensely - thank you!

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, 4 Jun 2013

This review is from: Footsteps (Kindle Edition)
I enjoyed it but found the final section on Nerval a little extended and annoying. The whole was not exactly as expected, but I found it well written and very interesting both about Holmes' journeys and hia subjects' lives, which were unfamiliar to me.

Notorious Nineteen (Stephanie Plum Book 19)
Price: £3.98

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, 13 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
After nineteen episodes of Stephanie Plum the plot line gets a bit monotonous, but it is always fun and worth a laugh.

An enjoyable couple of hours read for a lift and a laugh. MC Beaton must have an army of ghost writers to cope with her output.

Good witty fun, just like the others in the series! Eased a few days in bed and persuaded me to buy all the rest immediately!
