5.0 out of 5 stars A New Slimline iPad Cover, 14 July 2015

An excellent replacement for a thicker, leather case that was becoming rather frayed and tired looking. The tablet clips snugly onto the base of this and the smooth cover protects the screen. Very light and comfortable to use. Great value for money and highly recommended

4.0 out of 5 stars Natural and Nutritional Dry Food For Adult Dogs, 3 Nov. 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This dry food has a list of ingredients as long as a dog's lead but further investigation revealed that the majority of them were natural or extracts from natural ingredients. I was a little disappointed that the percentage of salt wasn't indicated on the packaging when those for carrot, flaxseed and peppermint were as high blood pressure in some dogs can lead to an increased risk of strokes. I was, however, pleased to see that Glucosamine has been added; this helps to keep joints supple and decreases the risk of arthritis in adult dogs. My willing guinea pig - a lively mastiff cross - was apprehensive at first, sniffing at the bowl before plunging muzzle first into it and devouring every piece. Like all dry foods it is important to have fresh water readily available for the dog during and after his meal.

A well made leather case specifically for the Kubik Evo Media Player. Very snug fit. My only drawback is the magnetic clasp which didn't always close due to the snugness.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Blender to take your breath away, 26 Aug. 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Performance , in many cases, is somewhat over rated in my opinion. For example, what does it matter if a high performance car can do 0 to 60 in 7 seconds when a standard car costing a fraction of the price will still get you from A to B albeit at a more sedate pace?
At least that's how I used to think. When it comes to kitchen equipment, performance is everything; faster, smoother, quieter, anything for greater efficiency. The Optimum 9400 certainly ticks all these boxes and many more. Quite simply it is set to become the most often used piece of equipment in my kitchen and I've only had it for four days. It has a very powerful motor, scaringly powerful, which blitzes in seconds. Ice, nuts and seeds are no match for the blades of this. Hard vegetables and fruits such as carrots, celery and pears are juiced perfectly within a minute or so and the friction created by the blades is such that it will even semi cook a soup while the ingredients are pulping. Smoothies become a pleasure rather than a chore, soups take minutes rather than hours and sorbets using frozen berries make this one of the more adaptable blenders on the market. The 9400 also feels very sturdy and is extremely easy to clean.
There are cheaper blenders available but, in my experience, this is the only one which is so simple, efficient and powerful that using it becomes as natural as using a kitchen knife but a lot quicker and safer.

Love at First Stitch: Demystifying Dressmaking
Love at First Stitch: Demystifying Dressmaking
by Tilly Walnes
Edition: Hardcover
Price: £10.00

4.0 out of 5 stars Dress making Made Easy, 19 July 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
For the beginner this book has plenty of handy tips to help prevent expensive and soul destroying mistakes. For the more experienced dressmaker - such as my wife - it has five easy to follow patterns, in various sizes, for making skirts, scarves, a blouse and a dress. The instructions are written in a friendly, non technical style and accompanied throughout by clear and explanatory photographs. All in all this is the ideal book for those who want to try their hand at dressmaking but need that little confidence boost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Secure Protection For Mini Tablets, 19 July 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Although I already have a fold out cover for my ipad mini I wanted one that would hold it snugly and securely when I was travelling and didn't need instant access. The Amazons Basic ticks all the right boxes and is made of a material which is sufficiently padded and protective for my tablet. It repels light rain although I haven't tried it in a storm. Not sure I would want to.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cillian's Slow Burner, 10 May 2014
This review is from: Peacock [DVD] [2010] (DVD)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Peacock starts off strangely and then just carries on from one degree of strangeness to another. Collina Murphy plays John, a somewhat solitary bank worker in a Midwestern town whose world is turned upside down when the dominant mother who he lives with dies. John invents a female character who prepares his meals for him, leaves him shopping lists and looks after the house just like his dear mum. This character is called Emma and, despite the wig and female clothes, bears an uncanny resemblance to Cillian Murphy. Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to another movie in that pot boiled Hollywood genre dealing with split personality.
In a way Peacock is superior to many similar movies insomuch that the viewer can sympathise with the predicament that John/Emma faces when the small minded towns folk begin to guess at what is happening in their conservative midst. The problem is that the storyline is so slow and pedestrian that it takes something of an effort to reach the end. Despite the high quality of the acting, especially from Murphy and Susan Sarandon, and superior cinematography some plodding scriptwriting and lack of action really make this a film for completists. It is unsurprising to learn that it went straight to DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable, Smart and Very Good Value, 3 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
My local branch of Debenhams didn't have this style in stock when I wanted to buy them. I had already tried them on and almost decided to buy them at another, distant branch but wanted to be absolutely certain. Thank goodness then for Amazon. They arrived within a few days and I have worn them regularly since. They are light, comfy to walk in and fit in with the smart but casual look I try to maintain. Well done, Amazon and Debenhams

5.0 out of 5 stars A Timely Reminder Of Sue Townsend's Genius, 3 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This was bought as a 'light' read for my Kindle to while away an hour or two on a flight to Madeira. I can honestly say it was one of the most enjoyable hours I've ever spent in a 757. Written very firmly in the style of Townsend's Adrian Mole books this dutifully records the first green shoots of Margaret Hilda Roberts' rise to power. Existing as she did on 3 hours of sleep a night before assisting her shopkeeper father with the accounts or cutting the flour with powdered chalk this is truly a tale of determination, hard work and self delusion. At times, while reading this, I could almost hear the teenage voice of the Prime Minister To Be relishing in the re telling of her merciless exploits. It is a novella I will be returning to whenever I need a quick jolt of hilarity to lift my spirits. I haven't enjoyed a written put down of Thatcherism so much since Jonathan Coe's What A Carve Up. Sue Townsend was so much more than the creator of Master Mole and her passing has left a large gap in the literary world. RIP Sue and thank you for all the good times

4.0 out of 5 stars Not flashy but does the job very well, 20 Dec. 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
There are some antivirus bundles which boast about their speed, capacity and other superhuman powers on the packaging but often fail to deliver on these promises. G Data, on the other hand, has comparatively humble claims but works discretely in the background from the second my PC is switched on, updates itself without any great fanfares and announces when a scan is complete without any cheerleaders or brass bands. All in all it does what I want it to do without telling me how good it is.you can't ask for anything more than that really.
