NANA GN VOL 01: v. 1
NANA GN VOL 01: v. 1
by Ai Yazawa
Edition: Comic

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply excellent shoujo., 20 Jan. 2008
This review is from: NANA GN VOL 01: v. 1 (Comic)
It's easy to see why Nana is such a huge selling manga, both in Japan and the West. Ai Yazawa's art is simply gorgeous - her attention to detail is fantastic - and fans of her other work, like Paradise Kiss, should feel right at home here.

But, the main draw here is the story and interaction between the characters. This manga has that indefinable quality that keeps you reading, and eager to read the next volume as soon as you finish. The story centres around two women - both called Nana - who, after a string of coincidences, find themselves living in Tokyo together. Despite the womens' obvious differences - Nana K. is a sweet, ditzy, naive girl who's eternally falling in love, and Nana O. is a cool, collected former rock band singer who's eager to hit the big time after her boyfriend and guitarist left her to join a signed band in Tokyo - they hit it off straight away and form a close friendship. The story is excellent, and Yazawa effortlessly mixes humour, drama, sadness, romance and sex into a stellar shoujo with well-realised and sympatheic characters.

If you're new to manga, and looking for a good shoujo series to start with, I can't recommend this enough. If you're not new to manga.... what's taken you so long? Get this now!

5.0 out of 5 stars An easy way to go wireless, 7 Jan. 2007
I bought this for use with my Nintendo DS. I've got Tiscali broadband and Norton security, and it installed with no problems whatsoever. It's connected every time with no problems.

If you don't have a wireless router, this is an essential accessory if you want to play games over WiFi. I can definitely recommend it.

Fantastic book. I hadn't really made a proper CV beofore using this book, and I got an interview from the first one I sent!

Clear examples, easy to read, and it takes you through all the steps: cover letters, different CV types, layout, describing your skills and experience, etc. It also covers tricky CV issues and how to tackle them (for example - gaps in work history, no work experience).

A great purchase for anyone, especially if you haven't made a CV before. Highly recommended!
