4.0 out of 5 stars I waited so long, 5 Jan. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
It is many years since I saw this on TV and have waited patiently to see it again. Sian Phillips as always is wonderful. Of course by current standards it is more modest in its production values, but this is more then made up for by the talents of the likes of Nigel Hawthorne and some great early writing. First shown in 1978 it inspired in me two loves, the power of Sian Phillips and the inspiration of Boudicca herself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Astounding, 5 Jan. 2013

Anyone interested in the voice would or should already be a fan of the divine voice of Philippe Jaroussky. This is a collection of highlights from several concerts over the last several years up to and including 2012. Although still young, Jaroussky has been a jewel in the world of beautiful music for some time. He quite simply has one of the most astoundingly gentle, lyric, pure, controlled and intelligent voices on the planet. A rarity so special that it constantly makes one's jaw drop and one's hair stand on end. Many of these extracts have been seen on Youtube over the years, but here at last is a quality recording of these pieces that does his voice the justice it deserves. Of course there are many many CD's available, but here is also the humour, the charisma and the excitement of live performances from this beautiful man. I bought the Blu-Ray disc specifically so that I would get the best available sound so that I could I pump it through the large speakers attached to my TV and swoon. It is also a generous recording and runs for 2 hours and 40 minutes. It is well titled as The Greatest Moments in Concert.

5.0 out of 5 stars Casper's Newest and Best, 22 July 2012
This is a great nights entertainment and a great film by any standards. Casper Andreas wrote directed and had a major role in the film. The man is getting so good. The script is spot on and fun. The actors were top notch and it is so gratifying to see good acting in independent gay cinema. Matthew Ludwinski as Adam the main character is splendidly endearing, confused, optimistic and outstandingly beautiful to look at as well. He is a thoroughly convincing character. All the cast played the individual roles so well. Yes their was individuality in every character so Casper must be congratulated again for the work that went into the script. I watched it with a friend who is an actor and has also lived in LA and he laughed and commented all the way through. He was knocked out and wanted to see it again. One should not forget that they know how to use a camera as well. There is nothing to criticise here so do have a look. See it at a festival or get a copy.

Like so many other 5 STAR reviewers here I know naught about football. This is a joyous film about young personalities struggling to create an image of themselves. We all seem to need approval, but it is our own approval which we must seek first. Mr Rikki Beadle-Blair is a beacon of happiness in a world of cynicism. A force that has captured something special in every aspect of theatre and film from writer to director to actor etc. He formed Team Angelica to give expression to his visions and the boys and girls of the cast are all shimmering angels who exude talent and commitment. Just watch the 2 hour training limbering-up exercises around London in the bonus material to see their dedication. I have favourites like the exciting Jay Brown who has that special something that should take him so far in cinema. His performance in this and Fit (another of Rikki's films)jumps off the screen. He is the bad boy who one can love for his vulnerability. There is room in everyone's heart for a mad man. Of course Stephen, Kyle, Duncan, Jason, Ian, Ludvig, Sasha and all the crew are so real and all can be loved. This film has a soul that makes you feel good. Like the eternal optimist philosopher that Mr Beadle-Blair is, this is a work of love by and for all. The personal journeys during the game are pearls of wisdom. Three cheers for TEAM ANGELICA.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Englishman Abroad, 1 April 2011

Just Wonderful! Matt Smith is delightful as Isherwood and Imogen Poots has all the zest of a dizzy independent woman in the 30's. The cast are all so suitable and the story has the same feeling as does the reading of an Isherwwood novel. Standing back from life but honest in the extreme. It is the personality of a rich kid with a strange family, indulging in his sexuality while being aware of the curse of society of that period and also today. Politics, guts and sex. How do we meander through conviction and selfishness; through commitment and avoidance. Mostly I find Matt Smith a talent I enjoy watching in the 4 roles I have so far seen.
