4.0 out of 5 stars an awesome game. The stick itself has no fancy gizmos ..., 7 Aug 2014

I needed an inexpensive stick for testing out Elite: Dangerous, an awesome game. The stick itself has no fancy gizmos like force-feedback, but it has the right selection of controls to provide enough resources to fly in such a complex simulation. Only bought it as a test unit, but am gradually getting to love it. Solidly manufactured and responsive even under the extremes I find myself in, whilst gaming. A great buy.

This review is from: A Taste Of Silver (MP3 Download)
Picked this up from a friends Facebook link and just found it awesome. Didn't know where it came from, but it immediately caught my imagination. UTRB are those musicians that sit under the populist radar, but hooks you when you catch onto it. This is the sort of music that can just suddenly go viral and I'm one of those who will be spreading it. Electronica/Dance/Ambient, the variety of musical styles is here, so you can find something to suit most tastes.

Excellently crafted tunes with lyrics to grab your emotions. Songs of love and passion and the trials and tribulations of love in the modern digital world, sung with a haunting partially Vocoder-enhanced vocal. One line that hooked me was "It's not that it's not love / It's just a sign of the times." An indictment of the world today. A great find that should be passed around and around. Looking forward to future tunes with great anticipation.

Hawkmoon's travels lead him northwards, fighting pirates and evil creatures alike to eventually obtain the Sword of the Dawn, a mystical weapon with awesome powers. Graphic battles, evil souls all add to the substance of this 3rd volume in the Hawkmoon series and I'm looking forward to the final book

The 2nd book in the Hawkmoon series finds him on the trail of a person who can remove the jewel's power over him before it destroys him, but he ends up on the trail of an amulet whose power drives the wearer mad unless they are the chosen recipient of it. His journey takes him into the eastern desert lands and he meets with new companions and new foes alike in his quest to have the jewel's hold over him nullified. A race against time with fantastical flying creatures and flying machines, a city that can bridge dimensions all add to the lush detail of this follow up book.

One of Michael Moorcock's eternal champions Dorian Hawkmoon has been captured and in a distraught state is co-coerced into carrying out a mission unwillingly. The start of Dorian Hawkmoon's trials and travels, finds him being sent to Castle Brass in Kamargh, to try and entice Count Brass's daughter away from him and back to Baron Meliadus's palace in Gran Bretan. The Jewel in the Skull refers to a sorcerous gem being implanted in his forehead as a remote viewing and control device to make sure he follows the plan. Needlessly to say he is broken free of the power of the jewel and turns against the Baron. Thus begins his epic journey and to find out more, read the book. A great tale, well told and each subsequent book follows on well from this great start.

I Heard It Through The Grapevine - In The Groove
I Heard It Through The Grapevine - In The Groove

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Motown Album, 4 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Always loved this from the 70s. My brother bought this as Marvin Gaye - In The Groove and it was played to death on our old Ferguson record player. Obviously the killer track has to be "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", but the whole album is full of absolutely gorgeous Motown songs, with contributions from Holland, Dozier & Winfield, stalwarts of the Motown song writing machine, members of the Gordy family, Marvin Gaye himself and also Carol King (a fact I was not aware of at the time!).

All in all an absolute must for anyone who loves Motown at its best.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Epitomy of Vocal Harmony groups, 24 May 2014

I caught this whilst scanning Amazon for something completely different. I remember listening to the Hi-Los Under Glass, on a crackly 33rpm LP record, that my dad bought back in the 60s. I was spellbound even at 8 years old by this excellent group's ability to interpret songs in their own inimitable style with such harmonic accuracy. Listening to it even through the previews, it transported me back to these wonderful times when the house was full of music, from jazz records of my fathers by, obviously, the Hi-Los, but also Dave Brubek, Oscar Peterson, Stan Kenton and also my mum's opera and classical records too. The memory these tracks evoked, I will admit, brought tears to my eyes, but in a good way. Thanks Amazon for allowing me to re-live these wonderful times through music once again.

It's the Stainless Steel Rat. Never found a bad book in the series and this is no exception. An excellent read and an excellent anti-hero.

A great story well told, although the language might be dated now, the story itself is excellent. Also it has been used as a background idea for movies as well, including The Forbidden Planet. Read it to see what I mean.

The Queen of the Swords (Corum: The Prince in the Silver Robe Book 2)
The Queen of the Swords (Corum: The Prince in the Silver Robe Book 2)
Price: £2.99

4.0 out of 5 stars The story of Corum continues, 12 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is the second book in the Corum series of stories. The book starts with a brief précis describing the detail from The Knight of The Swords that precedes this book, to bring new readers up to speed on what has gone before. Corum the reluctant champion, once again takes on the Gods of Chaos in order to save the world and in this tale, he is tasked with taking on Queen Xiombarg, a more formidable opponent, than Arioch from the first book. The writing encapsulates the worlds and planes of existence you are being led into, introduces you to new characters, strange vehicles and as antagonists, odious creatures from the realm of Chaos, set in play to prevent Corum from completing his task, A good story well told and a great battle at the end leads you into the series finale. The only downside is that the header in this book and the others in the series, continually refers to Corum as the Prince in the Silver Robe, which he is not. He is the Prince in the Scarlet Robe with the Silver Hand, an important detail that needs correcting.
