If you have followed Sharpe throughout his journey then this book is a must. Not perhaps the greatest of the series but essential reading in the biography of Sharpe and Harper.

Always enthralling, but on this occasion a little light on content. However, life is not always a battle won with weapons. In this instance more a battle won by guile.

The premise of this book is sound and interesting but poor writing skills let it down. Inconsistencies in the first fifty pages of the plot are irritating (our protagonist is given a can of beer but within a few sentences it transforms into a bottle of beer) and poor sentence construction produces some unintentional howlers: 'Morton found a parking space beside the Sedlescombe Post Office and stepped out onto a tidy, triangular village green, wearing dark shorts, white t-shirt and sun glasses.' Who edited this book?

I am the wrong demographic for even considering this album (50+), but what a voice! So pleased I don't act my age.

3.0 out of 5 stars So much promise, 8 Dec. 2012

First book I have read by this author and I am wary of reading more! The story line seemed more than plausible, but somehow I just did not believe the characterisations. They all seemed a bit thin. I never really got enough of a feel for the characters to find any empathy with them. The pace seemed a little too quick, glossing over depth and colour in favour of pace. I would have liked more.

Pile of junk was my first thought. Waste of money is my considered opinion. Bosch should be ashamed of themselves keeping this product on the market. I will be looking to replace this immediately.

4.0 out of 5 stars Too old? No chance, 14 Aug. 2011

I am undoubtedly NOT of the right demographic to enjoy Scarlett Fever. Saw her playing support to Mike and the Mechanics earlier this year. At the concert their sound was sometimes a bit naff, but I put this down to the sound engineer not getting it right. So I bought the album on the basis of a couple of numbers I liked. Well this 48 year old bloke (who knows a bit about music), thought the album was a good 'un. Tighter sound (and so it should be in a studio), better positioning of the vocal and she can really sing. Grind 'em out style, reflective ballads, poppy. I'd say give it a go, especially if you relish Jo Willey being on Radio 2 now.

3.0 out of 5 stars Moody Medieval Mayhem, 14 Aug. 2011
Haven't read up on this to see if it ever made cinema release (I doubt it). Reasonable story and a cast of well known names. Some of the early effects of sword induced slaughter looked a little too 300 Spartans, almost see the graphic artists signature. But enough of the low brow criticism. Good film on Blue - Ray. Watched while my wife was out. The bad guys get a sound thrashing (or chopping, spearing, gutting, etc.) Mr Purefoy as the moody Templar comes into his own once he gets a red mist moment. Give it a go. Its an evenings entertainment.

4.0 out of 5 stars House Party, 9 Jan. 2010

This review is from: House - Season 1-5 [DVD] (DVD)
I had heard the excitement over House and thought it was worth "giving a go". Managed to finish series one over Christmas and have just got started on series two. I continue to be intrigued by the characters and the humour, but most of all Cuddy's rear. It shrank in series two and her chest was less on display. Complaints from the viewing public? Change of artistic direction? Shame! I quite liked it the way it was!!!! If it continues in this format it may get a little boring but I hope the studio found some added creativity to keep up the enjoyment all the way through to the end of series five. A new fan for House.
