5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent in a small flat, 5 Sep 2014

So far great reports, I bought it as a 'flat' warming present (!) for my mothere who lives alone and has a bad back, proving much better than a conventional oven for her as she cooks little and now doesn't have to bend !

This review is from: Double Play (Kindle Edition)
For the first 2 chapters' I wasn't sure, as I had been reading his Jesse Stone series which is different, but once into it , I really enjoyed this book.
Just enough suspense, a little romance.
A well balanced combination

5.0 out of 5 stars Quirky mystery unlike I read before., 12 July 2014

Some bits were a bit far fetched.
Having said that, a long read being a collection but I had to get to the end !
I wanted to know what happened to the characters, especially Barney

5.0 out of 5 stars A great independant view of our place in Europe/EU and how Brussels manipulates it !, 12 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Someone needs to write an independant review like this before a UK referendum but it needs to be much simpler.

I didn't realise we were the 2nd Net contributor, only Germany is larger.

I believed we were in for the market liberiislation/trade but we are are prevented from making our own UK trade deals with others by being in the EU.

It's very worrying the ammount of 'Federal' movement/direction/planning which is happening, in my view not in the UK interest.
we need to be in control of our own laws !
I also didn't realise how the EU manages to sidestep our Veto by calling it something else.

I am concerned as how BrEXIT (as he calls it) would effect me personally as I spend a lot of time in France (not working).
Personally there are small things which would effect me if wec pulled out, but not enough to give sovereignty up.

His first forecast didn't come true - the 2014 Euro election results- he didn't forecast UKIP doing well.
This may have a big impact on the future of UK and many other EU countries who all voted anti-EU parties, but they appear to take no notice in Brussels, grabbing more power and costing much more.

All together a fascinating view of the EU and our history with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for anyone following Jesse !, 12 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
As I expect from a Jesse Stone story.
I like the characters and like to follow them.
Anyone who likes the same will like this book.
I just wish there was some way I could get then in the right order, other books in a series like this have numbers in their title.....

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun but a little strange, 22 Jun 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: 69 for 1 (Kindle Edition)
I expected the 'Alan Coren' humour I know a little.
The start of the book didn't disappoint.
The last few chapters were the good dry humour I expected.
He seems to have drifted off a little in the middle, but I suppose a whole book is a lot to expect. The middle was not 'unfunny' just not as 'laugh out loud' cynical. It didn't stop me reading the whole book , so therefore it wasn't bad at all.
