1.0 out of 5 stars Don't believe the hype, 26 Jan. 2009
This review is from: For Emma Forever Ago (Audio CD)
how and why does such a poor record acieve such notoriety. I listened to this because of the Hype wish i listened to public enemy - they said don't believe the hype and surely this has never been truer than when applied to this self indulgent whiny piece of adolescent drivel, poor me ive split up with my girlfriend. I have nothing against Mr. Vernon Im sure he's very nice. But i am fed up with music that achieves this sort of reputation because of exteranal factors ie. he split up/he went to a cabin/he recorded it on a lap top whilst eating beef whilst outside the cabin wolves prowled - big deal its still rubbish. Please try to listen before you buy.

The line are we human or are we dancers comes from a Hunter S. Thomson comment that America was raising a generation of dancers. Still don't understand?....... Think about it rather than putting ill informed reviews on here.

The vocal harmonies on this LP are what it must be like to be serenaded by angels for eternity. This is amongst the best reggae you are likley to hear.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb, 19 Nov. 2007
This review is from: Pick Up the Pieces (Audio CD)
I've been listening to reggae in its many forms for about 25 years now. Peace and Love and Promised land are in my opinion two of the greatest reggae songs ever performed, the vocal harmonies send a shiver down my spine. This Lp is an absolute must for reggae fans.

1.0 out of 5 stars Please Avoid this if you like Bob Marley, 13 Nov. 2007
This review is from: Chant Down Babylon (Audio CD)
What can I say? I bought this thinking it may offer new ways of hearing Bob Marley. The album is lazy, poorly thought out and, some of the covers are just plain insulting. If you want to listen to Bob Marley buy Bob Marley but please avoid this, its an insulting embarrasment.

I've got the vinyl version which is proabably half as long as the CD. If you like dance - hall get this if you don't don't.
