2.0 out of 5 stars It's Very Average, 19 Nov 2009
This review is from: The Fountain (Audio CD)
I own all the Bunnymen albums, though did get Sibera in the bargin bucket several months after it came out. I pre-ordered this as I had tickets for the Roundhouse show and thought they would play quite a few tracks from it. They played 2 which is testament to how average it is. I've played it a dozen times and it's so bland that I can't say anything positive about this, bar it only has 10 tracks. Actually The Fountain is a decent track so gets the 2 stars.

Doing a cover to look like very early Bunnymen artwork is lame. Ocean Rain is one of the finest albums of all time and since they reformed their albums have been pretty good. Flowers has a few great tracks on it (King of Kings and It's Alright etc), Evergreen is a fine album, What are you going to do with your Life is also good & Siberia is 7/10 material.

This however isn't. Sorry

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Box Set I've Seen, 25 Sep 2009
This review is from: Love (Omnibus Edition) (Audio CD)
I'll come on to the music in a bit, but this Box Set is truly stunning, Beggars Banquet have excelled themselves in the detail they've gone in to. The outer card box is quality, then housed inside is the beautiful booklet & 4 CDs. The main album CD is a mini replica of the original vinyl with a gatefold sleeve, inner card sleeve with notes and then a polythene bag over the CD - wonderfully done. The other 3 CDs are done in a similar way minus the gatefold sleeve.

Love is a great rock'n'roll album, with some truly outstanding tracks. The 3 Singles (She Sells Sanctuary, Rain & Revolution) speak for themselves, but `Hollow Man' are `Big Neon Glitter' are superb. Perhaps some of the songs could be a bit shorter - I'm trying to be critical and finding hard. Disc 2 has some great B-Sides and some good extended versions of SSS. Not listened to the 3rd disc yet but it looks interesting. The final Disc is the BBC Live In Concert show which I had on cassette (recorded it when it aired on Radio 1 way back when) - this is the complete show, as the BBC aired version missed off a couple of tracks - it's a great recording.

If you have the original album on CD and want to get the remastered version - get this rather than slightly cheaper Double CD version.

4.0 out of 5 stars Champ Man Back On Form, 5 Sep 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
The problem with reviewing a game like this is that you have to have played the game for a while to do a proper review. Already there are 15 reviews quite a few from FM Fan boys who would give it 1 Star even if it was better than FM - which I'm not saying it is, it isn't. It is however very good and having The 7th tier of English football is great, I can manage Didcot Town now!

The Set piece creator is great fun - though it can be abused by asking the players to do stupid things and then shown on You Tube claiming it doesn't work - it does and works well. The Season Live idea is great, 6 monthly updates where you have the choice of playing the season from a given point in time. All the scores from 8 leagues will be as of real life - so in therory you could take over Newcastle like Shearer did last season in the same situiation and see if you could keep them up.

This is a good game, sure it's got some issues but all games do!
