Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 - Black Gloss (Retail Packaging)
Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 - Black Gloss (Retail Packaging)
Offered by 3B-IT Ltd
Price: 12.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Essentially for Laptop use, 27 Dec 2013
Having used one of these on my laptop for the last year I am very pleased with the performance and excellent battery life.

I also used an old Belkin wireless mouse for my large screen P.C. but got fed up with the frequent battery changing (2 AA's) so I dropped a hint that another Microsoft 3500 wireless mouse would make a useful Christmas present.

I was lucky to receive one, but on a large screen I am finding a surprising result. The scroll wheel on the new mouse is quite coarse in operation and results in large jumps, over half a page when scrolling. This makes it difficult to use the scroll wheel on documents because paragraphs cannot be positioned accurately for proof reading.

I cannot find any adjustment in the software to alter this (yet) and the slider can be used in place of the scroll wheel so it's not a major problem, just awkward. It's a nicely made neat little laptop mouse but may be too small for large hands.

Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Your handywork skill will rewarded if you take your time, 19 Dec 2013

The material provides the degree of protection required if you take care in laying out and folding. I used small pieces of magic tape to hold the wrap in place. If you do this remember to fold the book together with the protected dust cover to get the precise fold line before folding and applying the tape. Anyone that has done this before will not need telling this but it does avoid having to re-stick and it will result in a tidy fit of the dust cover over the book and hold it in place. Excellent and essential product to protect frequently used books.

Horseless Carriage
Horseless Carriage
by L T C Rolt
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars The best readable history of the car by a long way, 11 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Horseless Carriage (Hardcover)
As an engineer with a lifetime interest in vehicles and machinery this is by far the best book on the evolution of the car that I have ever read. It is concise and uncomplicated which makes it appealing to read.

Tom Rolt was such a good writer; he had the ability to convey his knowledge, interest and enthusiasm to the reader on several levels. You don't have to be an engineer to understand what he has written, but if you are it's a bonus and you will discover many facts you did not know even if you have spent a lifetime around old cars.

The history of the steam car is as fascinating and well covered as are the facts on the relative costs of early car production. Credits for the invention and development of many, now essential, components in motor vehicles are well covered.

Anyone interested in veteran or vintage cars would find this a welcome addition to the bookshelf. It may be an old book (first published in 1950) but it's a good book and for the period covered it's very hard to beat.

Black & Decker GK2235 2200W 35cm 14-inch Chainsaw
Black & Decker GK2235 2200W 35cm 14-inch Chainsaw

3.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating and fiddly adjustment - requires mechanical skill, 4 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this because it is quieter to use in a small garden. In operation I have found that it is not as easy or convenient to use as a petrol engined chainsaw. Firstly assembling this tool is a fiddle because the chain guide has to be HELD in position while the retaining cover which locks the guide in position is screwed on. Guide bar and chain in one hand, cover in the other and an unstable lump with protruding screw - get the picture ?

You may think 'So what, I only have to assemble the thing once or twice'. Think again, during the running in period you may need to adjust the chain tension(with a cross point screwdriver)several times. If you overlook this, or the chain slackens during work, you may find that the driving dog disengages during cutting and you will have to dismantle the thing to put the chain back and readjust it.

I now realise why the black cover is easy to take off, because it is something that may need to be done regularly to put the chain back. When the cover is off the guide bar and the chain will drop off the unit. Poor design - The guide bar needs some form of additional retainer to hold it in place while the locking cover is replaced.

In use the thing works well enough but the locking switch is stiff and awkward to operate and the unit is no light weight. Are Bosch units any better ?

Practical Woody Plant Propagation for Nursery Growers
Practical Woody Plant Propagation for Nursery Growers

5.0 out of 5 stars Indispensible, 3 Mar 2013

This fills those parts that other references cannot reach. Renders several of my previous reference books redundant. In my opinion very good value. Mine is the soft cover version which may be better for every day use. The cost of the book will save any serious propagator of woody plants years of wasted labour. Excellent, highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Product inspection poor, 3 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought two of these. The temperature readings differed by about 4/5 degrees even after allowing 24 hours to stabilise. For the use for which they are intended this might be be considered acceptable but not for me. I'm afaid I expected better from a branded product. I should add that I have three more of the same item (but not Kitchen Craft) and cheaper which have been in use for 12 months - All three of these read identically.
I will be cautious before buying Kitchen Craft brand again.

AmazonBasics 10- to 12-Sheet Cross-Cut Shredder with CD Shred

4.0 out of 5 stars Robust and performs well, 3 Mar 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Not the quietest on the block but will continue to operate continuously when shredding multi page documents (it is actually getting quieter with time). Our last shredder failed to perform as claimed and cut out due to overheating regularly even when light duty. This shredder performs well without hestiation or reduction in speed. It is well constructed so it is no lightweight. The bin capacity is good, fit a pedal bin liner to contain the bits when emptying. As there is no overfilling cut out you will need to keep an eye on the bin contents window but there is plenty of capacity for temporary push down. Cannot comment on the CD cutter as I doubt if we will use it and it does add to the weight and size of the shredder head. Very pleased with purchase, good value for money in my opinion.

Netgear Universal Wi-Fi Internet Adapter
Netgear Universal Wi-Fi Internet Adapter

2.0 out of 5 stars May need 'clear line of site' for connection., 19 Nov 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Running a dedicated internet cable to my Sony Bravia TV is inconvenient so after reading the reviews I bought the Netgear WNCE20001 Universal WiFi Internet Adapter. It's a neat little device which comes well packed with power unit, internet cable and an alternative cable for USB powering.

Connecting was easy and the written and on screen instructions clear but after several attempts mine would not connect to my excellent BiPAC 7800N router.

Following the FAQ text in the basic set up instructions I then found that the Netgear Wifi adapter needs 'A CLEAR LINE OF SITE' to the router for connection. A pretty poor WiFi performance in my opinion. My router is several rooms away from my living room so I now find that I may need to run a dedicated internet cable after all.

Netgear's suggestion of relocation the device (by a long internet cable presumably ?) makes for an untidy installation and rather defeats the object in purchasing it, so it may have to returned to Amazon.

The Netgear installation instructions also omit to mention that besides operating the WPS button on the Netgear universal adapter AND the router you may also need to enter the router configuration program and 'enable' the WPS facility.
