5.0 out of 5 stars the images are wonderful to behold in Blu Ray high definition, 28 Mar. 2015

Simply stunning images of a once lost and hidden world. The 30,000 year old cave drawings "come to life" under Herzog's camera.
Although his narration can be irritating sometimes, the images are wonderful to behold in Blu Ray high definition. I doubt the general public will ever be allowed to see inside these caves, so this recording is as near as I will get to approaching drawing made by humans from so long ago.
Unfortunately, I do not have a 3D television and can not comment on that.

This succint book very simply and very brilliantly illustrates (literally) the ways in which we get our relationships in a mess, both at work and at home!
The book is not a long wordy explanation of relationship pitfalls but uses drawings and a conversational style to graphically demonstrate how our interactions go wrong. You can "see" what is going wrong on the page as the "drama" is played out with cartoon characters.
This very difficult and complicated subject has been distilled to its basics in this easy to comprehend book. Excellent.

1.0 out of 5 stars History says, "Henry Ford is bunk!", 22 May 2014
Thank you again to Amazon for allowing me to "Look Inside!"
I was very interested in Henry Ford's contribution to this volume and his argument that a Jew is always a Jew.
Ford asserts that just as an Irishman, who becomes indifferent to the Church is still an Irishman, so then likewise a Jew, who becomes indifferent to the Synagogue, is still a Jew. This does not make sense to me.
Does Ford mean a Catholic Irishman or a Protestant one? If a Catholic converts to Protestantism, is he still Irish? Surely even an atheist Irishman is still an Irishman. His nationality is not based on his religious beliefs.
But if a Jew becomes an atheist, he is no longer a Jew. If he converts to Christianity, he certainly is no longer a Jew, but he is still the nationality of the land of his birth. Likewise, a Christian can convert to Judaism, but their nationality remains the same.
Unfortunately, I believe calling someone "a Jew", with emphasis, in certain circles has a derogatory ring to it.
It would seem not so much with the word "Hebrew", a word denoting the language.
I think to use the word "Jew" to denote a person's race is likely to cause confusion and probably inappropriate.
I do not think that religious belief is fixed by race, or that race fixes your religion.
Biblically, the Israelites were Jewish and spoke Hebrew, and vice versa.
I would say this is not the case today because Judaism is worldwide and covers many nationalities. I believe many are as proud of their nationality as they are of their religion. But their religion unites them worldwide, just as the Roman Catholic and Anglican Churches unite Christians worldwide.
And while this book continues to be used to justify the arguing and fighting, we forget what it is to be a human being!
It's a shame we can't find something that would unite us all, instead of creating more divisions.

Special Treatment in Auschwitz: Origin and Meaning of a Term (Holocaust Handbooks)
Special Treatment in Auschwitz: Origin and Meaning of a Term (Holocaust Handbooks)
by Carlo Mattogno
Edition: Paperback

1.0 out of 5 stars Read Page 8 of Amazon's "Look Inside!"..., 20 May 2014
In the last paragraph on Page 8 the author states that other Nazi documents do mention "special treatments" and that, in fact, these documents ARE referring to executions. However, the author wants us to believe that when "special treatment" is used in documents coming from Auschwitz, they do not have this special meaning at all.
I am thinking he would like us to believe that the term "special treatment" in documents originating from Auschwitz has no special meaning at all, but when used in other documents they do; words like "Sondermaßnahmen", "Sonderaktion" and "Sonderkommando" would mean one thing in some documents, but a different meaning in documents that originate only from Auschwitz. So Auschwitz is a special case in the German language?
He would then like us to believe that this, apparent contradiction in terms, in no way invalidates his conclusions, i.e. that actually nothing "special" happened in Auschwitz.
Well I'm really glad we've sorted that out after 70 years!
And thank you Amazon for saving me from buying this very special book.

A great little book to start the reader using "mindfulness", without any mysticism.
Extremely accessible, small enough to carry anywhere. You can just dip into the book, anywhere, anytime, you feel the need for a little helpful suggestion.
It's an essential read that does not cost the earth yet, when put into action, the simple suggestions it will bring priceless dividends that last a lifetime.
I think anyone suffering from mild depression would benefit from this book.

I was drawn to this strap because it is leather and "water resistant". Certainly a substantial strap, the colour matched the photograph, which pleased me. Looks good on, contrast stitching and deep padding give it a rugged, yet classic appearance. Of course, only time will tell how it stands up to daily wear.

The Nazis: A Warning from History
by Laurence Rees
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars A mythbusting book!, 22 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Concise and profusely illustrated with disturbing photographs, this book includes many eyewitness accounts. Laurence Rees calls upon, not only his own extensive experience, but also the latest information available to historians.
In one volume of only 256 pages, this has to be an invaluable work to accompany the BBC TV series.
