5.0 out of 5 stars Rock N Roll Genius, 2 Mar 2007
Having heard of Gluecifer a year ago I bought their latest album Automatic thrill which was a fair album. It seemed that the first half of the cd was good and tapered off around half way through.

Then I decided to take another risk hoping for a more consistent album. If anyone is new to this band this album is perfect.

As soon as the first chords crunch out with a nice little rock n roll build up you get a real idea of where this band is coming from. Its all too easily likeable, the kind of music that you can put on your sterio and start your weekend.

Thats not to say it's all rock n roll party filled adrenaline. There are the more restrained moments in the form of single "Losing End" and my favourite song on the album "It Won't Be". The latter showing off a very bluesy feel and the guitar solo having almost the perfect end to end all solo's, truely serving the songs emotion.

Other stand out tracks are "brutus", "Not Enough" and "Powertools and Piss". Anyone that has listened to the clips on this page and enjoyed, should invest in this album without hesitation. Too bad they broke up

4.0 out of 5 stars A good progression, 3 Nov 2004

So after what seems like years of waiting its finally here. So where to start, what with them talking of this offering being their "heaviest to date" and all, has it delivered?
My answer would be yes and no at the same time. They are responsible for influencing the likes of thrice and many technical punk bands, but it seems that the positions have now reversed with the teacher being influenced by the student so to speak.
That being said that doesnt mean its a bad album by any means. Its just that they havent pushed the boundries quite as much as id have hoped.
On the heavier side of things Katatonia bursts out of the speakers and knocks you side to side and shuffles much like "Savant" (See The 2000 release Element of sonic defiance). Other stand out tracks from the heavier side are Angeldust and vampires being nicely smoothed out atmospheric dark punk songs. By far the most evil offering is "Lucifermotorcade" which has drumming that may remind some of Fear Factorys' clinical double bass bursts.
They havent abandoned their more poppy or straight up punk side either, and theres a few of these scattered on the album. By far the best song of this bunch of songs is The misanthropic principle which starts out on a very predictable chord progression but as it drives into the final two minutes it becomes much more sad and emotional before floating into a beautiful quiet outro which you wouldnt have seen coming.
There are a couple of other moments like this but i will leave you to discover some of the curveballs theyve thrown in there.
A good album overall by the most innotive punk band out there today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Could be the best modern rock n roll album ever, 1 Dec 2002

Well its seemed like ages that ive been waiting for this album to come out since they gave us grande rock and i would say that this surpassed all of my expectations.
For those who like rock n roll of the more retro tip, if you havent heard the hellacopters,,, they are a band you should check out.
As soon as you put the CD in you get that warm feeling that you just might end up jumping around the room playing your air guitar just like something out of bill and ted and indeed it did happen to me. The pianos have been brought a bit more to the front of the mix this time around and especially on the track "rainy days revisited" which drives the track and brings much more feeling than usual, and my bring a tear or two to some eyes.
There are many stand out tracks on this album, notably the lush "carry me home" worthy of being the best hellacopters song ever (i've listened to it about 50 times today its that catchy) then theres "rainy days revisited" ,"all new low" and "the exorcist" which is more dark than their normal style but stands out near the top of this album. In general this is a very varied album and thus every song is memorable.
If you liked grande rock and high visibility you should not delay in buying this album. i promise that you will be glad you added it to your collection.
