Planet India: The Turbulent Rise of the World's Largest Democracy
Planet India: The Turbulent Rise of the World's Largest Democracy
by Mira Kamdar
Edition: Paperback
Price: £7.42

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but too defensive, 23 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I felt the author came across as trying to defend and promote the country too often. It is very much a business read and not really a historical one. Although there are many interesting facts which most people will be unaware of, I felt at times it was a bit tedious.

Russia: A Short History (Short Histories)

4.0 out of 5 stars Facinating insight, 23 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
For anyone looking for a compressed history of the former Soviet Union, then this is well worth a read. I have only given it four stars as I feel there could of been a bit more detail on the transformation from the Soviet Union to Russia. Only the last paragraph actually refers to Russia itself. The author goes into plenty of detail of all the major rulers and after reading you will be left wondering which leader was the worst for the country.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Multi Card Reader, 23 Aug 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Having previously used several mutli card readers, although this one is dearer, it is easily the best. The cards fit without the need to force them in and the transfer data speed is superb. I have been recommended Lexar on a photography website by many users and I can see the reason why.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value, 28 Jun 2013

This works just like the original brand at a fraction of the price.
It makes you wonder what profit margin Apple must be getting!

3.0 out of 5 stars A lot of Physics, 18 Feb 2013
Although the subject matter is facinating, be prepared for a lot of physics. I found at times there was just too much and although I am sure the author would argue that he could not make his point without the physics, those people like myself may find it is just a little bit too much and not what I would term popular science. Having said that it is still a facinating subject and there are many enjoyable parts in this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Value, 26 Feb 2012
My old camera bag had seen better days and I was looking for something similar that did not cost a fortune. The Nova 180 is great valvue for money. What it can hold will be important for most folk, so based on my kit, I can get the following inside - Canon 50d with 10-22, Canon 70-200f4(non IS) and Canon 100 Macro. I must point out the above combination is a fairly tight mix and does not leave much room for quick access. In addition there are two dedicated small pockets for CF cards or similar, three zipped pockets for remote cables, filters etc.(Not really enough room for filters that are already in cases.
Although there is only one buckle at the front, this is not a problem as there is then zip that keeps the main compartment closed.
The only reason I did not give this bag 5 stars, was the fact that the main compartment is slighty compact if you require to hold a body and three lenses.
At this price I think you you struggle to find anything better.

4.0 out of 5 stars A bit of everything, 26 Feb 2010
This book is well worth a read, as unlike many others in this field, the author discusses in detail, a variety of different topics. These topices range from basic cell structure, to muscles, sight, consciousness and death to name a few. For me, some chapters were fasinating (Consciousness)and not long enough, while a couple of others (muscles), were a bit on the long side. It is almost like ten different books in one, and if it were not for a couple of chapters, which I found repetitive, then it would be a definite 5 stars.
Having said that, if you are at all interested in the evolution of life, buy this book.
