5.0 out of 5 stars Compostable caddy liners, 21 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bigger than the standard size provided by our council, so fit better into our kitchen recycling bin, with very little sagging or collapsing under the weight of scraps and peelings, and I don't mind paying pennies for the bags for the extra convenience.
Beyond that not much more to say - they stay intact when wet and provide a useful means of getting stuff neatly into the recycling wheelie bin or our home compost bin
Very pleased with these

5.0 out of 5 stars Good general purpose knife, 21 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Good solid general purpose penknife, of the quality you expect from Victorinox. Being a two-layer knife, it enables you to get a good grip on it when you are using the blades or tools, and I much prefer the deeply patterned alox finish to the smooth red plastic versions. Smooth, round finished ends that don't catch in your pocket - a trade-off for not having a key-ring attachment point. High quality steel blades/tools that open and shut very smoothly, but are held relatively securely with no wobble by strong leaf springs when open. The blades are as sharp as you need (OK, the rounded part on the box-cutter blade could perhaps be sharper) and the edges of the reamer are pretty sharp too. The multi-function flat screwdriver / bottle opener / wire stripper blade is an old friend and much used on other knives I own.
Dimensions (closed) are; 93mm long by 23mm from the base to the top edge of the big blade, and 12mm wide, so it's not a tiny pocket accessory by any means. Big blade has a 62mm (just under 2.5 in) razor edge on it, while the squarer box-cutter blade is 35mm (just under 1.5 in).
All in all I am delighted with this and would heartily recommend, especially if you are a Victorinox fan

5.0 out of 5 stars Galaxy Y silicone skin case, 2 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Snug fitting silicon skin case for the Galaxy Y that adds good protection without compromising functionality. Fits perfectly, with neat cutouts for the earphone socket, charging socket and camera. Volume switch and power/sleep buttons work perfectly well through the silicon. Makes the phone easier to hold and operate more securely with one hand too.
Thoroughly recommended

4.0 out of 5 stars 'Y' didn't I get one of these before ?!, 2 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Robust little android touch screen phone that does the basics well at an affordable price. Looks neat, small size (10 x 6cm with a 3" TFT screen), easy to hold and operate in one hand, especially if you get a silicon skin case for it. Advertised as metallic grey, but actually comes with a selection of metallic finish case backs ranging from black through pink and orange - whatever suits your mood!
Touchscreen is suitably responsive and the keyboard is easy to use, though I have some mishits with my blobby fingers. My phone came with a 4Gb micro-SD card to expand the pretty minimal on-board memory.
Easy to set up from scratch - took my O2 sim card no problems at all and worked fine straight out of the box.
Simplicity itself to set up or ratify a googlemail account, and then to add other e-mail providers too, and you can set often used icons to appear on the home screen. Other apps and icons are stored on a series of pages that you can add to as you go along, and of course you have instant access to Google search and the Google app-store too. Downloads and web-page access are quick. Camera is simple to operate and the pics are decent enough quality for my purpose.
I like the way it handles messages, in a series of speech bubbles as the conversation develops, and the operator buttons are nice and clear.
External controls are minimal, with a volume switch on one side and a power/sleep button on the other. Headphone socket and charging socket (micro-USB) are on the top.
I find I am charging it every couple of days with light usage (phone / texts / checking e-mail and sports / weather) which is acceptable.
So, in summary; a good starter touchscreen phone that won't break the bank, either in terms of initial cost or data contract, and ideal for an old git like me who wants to access web / mail etc quickly and easily when I want to, but not let a phone take over my life

4.0 out of 5 stars Ancol nail clippers, 2 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Very effective shear action nail clippers - large size suitable for our Pointer dog. Strongly made with comfortable soft grips and a (removable) metal guard plate that stops the nail protruding through too far when you are cutting, so you only nibble off a bit at a time. Smooth action and don't alarm the dog with loud clicking noises. Pleased with these and would recommend

Dog loves these crunchy, crumbly bone-shaped chews (just over 3" long) as a treat after meals. No additives or colours to make him hyper or upset his stomach and they help keep his teeth clean. Will definitely order again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Banana bar, 2 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Slightly crumbly oat and soya protein-based energy bar with a lovely distinct (but not overwhelming) banana taste. Ideal for a substantial snack during the day, for sustained energy release on a walk or bike ride, or to keep in your bag/glove box as emergency back-up. Certainly not the cheapest, but worth it for the quality and taste in my opinion

...and re-ordered !

4.0 out of 5 stars Ultrasport bike shorts, 22 July 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Well made stretchy bike shorts with colour contrasting detail and mesh side panels. Good wide waistband with drawstring adjustment, and a (very small) zipped pocket just below the waistband at the rear which would be ideal for a key, a couple of coins or notes. The seating pad is very comfortable and falls in just the right place for me. Good length in the leg, finishing just above my knees, and grippy so they don't ride up when you cycle. Wash well and keep their shape fine. Have to say though that they are a VERY snug fit and the waistband sits very low compared to other makes I own.

Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Corded Handheld Vacuum Cleaner
Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Corded Handheld Vacuum Cleaner

5.0 out of 5 stars Pet Hair Vacuum, 21 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Brilliant little unit that is so much more effective at removing pet hair than our (expensive) upright vacuum cleaner. Good length of power cord that allows us to cover a flight of stairs and landing with ease, and a very comfortable to hold handle with on/off switch at the end so your thumb can easily work it
Comes with two attachments - one is flexible rubber with little knobbly fingers on it that disturb hairs etc as you move it across the area being cleaned, while the other is a more rigid plastic slot for 'bits'. Easy to interchange simply by pressing a button on the casing and releasing before clicking the new attachment in place.
The rubbish is collected in a transparent plastic bin, protected by a washable screen filter, and the instructions recommend emptying this every time you use it to maintain suction, which makes sense.
Easy to handle, not too heavy, flexible enough to work on small, curved areas and very effective in use, getting cat and dog hairs out of carpets, off duvet covers, cushions and car upholstery, and it's almost frightening how much you can see coming out even after a good hoovering with our Dyson.
Delighted with this and thoroughly recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars Hozelock 25 metre hose reel, 20 July 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Free-standing hose reel with 25 metres of decent quality plastic 1/2 inch hose that is quite flexible and easy to wind/unwind. Some self-assembly required to use the reel to its full potential, which is pretty straighforward. Kit comes with a threaded tap fitting and adaptor if you don't already have one on your outside tap, and an 'auto-stop' push-lock connector for the business end of the hose, that stops the flow if there is no nozzle or spray attachment fitted - great idea that saves you going back to the tap to turn it off if you want to change attachments mid job.
The hose attaches to the reel by means of a fitting in the hub (you have to lever the plastic hub plate off with a screwdriver to get to it) and there is a long spring that fits inside the hose at this junction to prevent kinks when in use, and ensures a good flow even if the hose is only partly unwound.
In addition there are two push-lock fittings supplied for you to make a connection from your tap to the reel - of course you will need to sacrifice some of your hose to make this, alternatively spend a few quid more to get one ready made (I did)
So, it works well, no leaks, good length of hose for the garden and washing the car, and good value for money - I'm very pleased with this
