by far her best novel.i pick up each new book with the hope that they will measure up but they never do.the mix was perfect, just the right amount of adventure, fantasy, eroticism & romance.not overblown with too much drama and yet the story unfolds so cleanly, full of emotion that the reader picks up without it being rammed down your throat.i hope she finds whatever inspiration drove her to write this and writes more of the same.a good talent that i believe is capable of a lot better than all her works since.

By far the best of her books. It was the first I read and I keep on reading over and over.I found a true emotional bond between the characters.People searching for something together and wary of trusting. The story was beautifully paced, not rushed at all but not dragging. There were exactly the right number of characters to add a background flavour without taking too much focus of the main two. This is a believable love story with toe curling sex scences that fit in smoothly.I wish she would write more in the same vein.Focusing on the emotions and vulnerability of the characters,a true story not just a WHAM BAM THANK YOU MAM tale.

I loved this book.I am a huge Ilona fan.She has both a great sense of humour and timing. Her books are well paced and characters robustly developed. Her plots while seemingly intricate are actually very basic. She is a very good storyteller. This book,is no different.A strong female lead with integrity and humour,a ridiculously handsome male lead, they team up to protect the innocent from a mad evil genius in a land between two dimensions. In the midst of this there are thrown in characters that are cute, evil, sweet and funny without being sappy or cliched.Ilona Andrews mixes old age values of honour, good versus evil, the underdog triumphing with a healthy dose of sexual tension and deep seated love. She has not dissapointed me yet.If you like fantasy fiction and want to be thoroughly entertained..read all her books.
