4.0 out of 5 stars Look beyond the graphics and this is a good, but not definitive, Mario Kart., 3 Jun. 2014
Great graphics, performance, courses and super smooth online play can't make up for this MK's issues. Battle Mode has been completely ruined because it's now on race courses, the Gamepad is oddly and poorly used, there's still very little content besides the standard eight cups and the character roster isn't great. Still one of the best games on Wii U but not the definitive Mario Kart that we all hoped for.

3.0 out of 5 stars New additions complicate an otherwise fine new version., 28 Feb. 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
PowerDVD continues to evolve with version 12. This edition adds in a store front and other media player functionality, contrasting with the last version I was using previously.

To be honest, none of those features interest me. I have iTunes for my music library and digital purchases- I just need PowerDVD to play Blu-Rays and occasionally DVDs.

The basics of playing DVDs/Blu-Rays are impacted by the bulky, bloated interface. Honestly, it took me a while to figure out how to play a DVD/Blu-Ray that is already in the drive without relying on auto play. That's pretty poor design.

On the whole, for my needs at least, this is not that much better than the previous version I had before (10, I think). Maybe pick up that or a more basic edition of the package if you just want the DVD/Blu-Ray playback functionality.

Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Other players/Skype users are telling me that they are getting horrible feedback through the headset's mic. I'd strongly advise against buying for this reason as well as the cheap build quality. A waste of £40.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like Studio 14 but better!, 17 April 2012
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I've been using the Studio programs since version 8. My version before this was 14 however so I didn't notice a massive amount of differences. However, the Complete Collection is a nice price for v.15 and all the add-ons and even comes bundled with a green screen which was a really nice surprise (but not that well highlighted, even on the box).

If you're after a good priced yet fully featured editing package for 32-bit PCs this is a great one to go for.

3.0 out of 5 stars Gets the job done but not required for the computer literate, 27 May 2011
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Let's get this straight: if you're a sensible web user you probably don't need software like this.

I use Windows 7 and the free Windows Live Essentials suite and I've never had a single virus or infection slip by.

Given that that fact, and that programs like AVG place a substaintial drain on system resources, I won't be using Internet Security 2011 for the long haul.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with software. This is the kind of thing you'll install for a shared or family computer where you're not sure what other users will get up to.

But if you're computer savvy and intend on running resource-intense programs like video games and production software, you're better off going without premium security software such as this.

Professor Layton And The Eternal Diva [DVD]
Professor Layton And The Eternal Diva [DVD]

4.0 out of 5 stars Even if you aren't a fan of the games, this is delightful, 23 Dec. 2010
Full disclosure: I've never played the Professor Layton games. But even I found this film charming and entertaining. It's the kind of film that'll be on television at Christmas time, hopefully becoming one of those magical Christmas movies for a new generation of children.

For those who don't know, Professor Layton is pretty much Japan's take on Sherlock Holmes. As such, the games and this first film has a unique style. And because his adventures are standalone mysteries there aren't any barriers of entry for newcomers.

The animation is excellent and feels like a big budget anime, the English dub is great(even though some songs remain in Japanese for some reason) and there's some neat in-jokes for fans like how they explain the presence of the puzzle-solving theme music.

Because of the whole mystery-solving nature of Layton the movie may not be worth a rewatch, at least not straight away. Hence why I give it a total score 4/5. That said, it's still one of the best movies based on a video game ever.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hardly worth the effort, even for nerds, 28 Oct. 2010
This review is from: Fanboys [DVD] (DVD)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
It's difficult to be hard on a film that's obviously a low budget production but Fanboys is simply not funny.

Ultimately, it's the scripts fault. We're not really given enough back story about the main characters to care about them and there're hardly any funny lines in the whole film. The performances don't really elevate proceedings either and at times work against the film rather than for it.

I'm mainly talking about Dan Fogler (who is still best known for starring in the horrible Chris Walken vehicle Balls of Fury) who plays the typical "funny fat guy" role and fails horribly. He's like an unfunny, charm-less Jack Black here.

But even the quality, well-known actors in the film like Jay Baruchel and Kristen Bell can't deliver particularly endearing performances here.

All in all, this is one of those films you might catch on TV one lazy evening day and find it mildly entertaining. It is not however, one you'll have want to see again or want to own.

2.0 out of 5 stars Who is this product for, 23 Aug. 2010
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
The Halo headset is pretty well made. It feels sturdy with a nice fold up feature and a decent bass effect.

However, I don't really understand who it is meant for. The box calls it a "Wireless headset for Mobile Phones" but since it doesn't come with a microphone of any sort it fails in that respect.

Unless you've got one of the few types of MP3 players that have built-in Bluetooth (the iPod Touch is the only one I know of) you're going to need to by a seperate adaptor to use Halo wirelessly for listening to portable music (these cost upwards of £20 judging from Amazon).

It does come with adaptor cable with a headphone jack so you can use it wired. But given that traditional wired headphones are significantly cheaper than this (not to mention non-battery reliant), I can't recommend this unless you are for some reason in the market for a Bluetooth headset without a mic.

Madcatz Rock Band Wired Fender Precision Bass (Xbox 360)
Madcatz Rock Band Wired Fender Precision Bass (Xbox 360)

3.0 out of 5 stars Too big and clunky for most, 11 Dec. 2009
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
While I applaud the solid workmanship by Madcatz, this product fails purely because it forgets that its a Rock Band guitar and not a real one.

Its dimensions are too realistic meaning that it takes up more space but more crucially that the fret buttons are much further apart than any other Rock Band or Guitar Hero controllers I've used. Also I'm not a fan of the split strum bar, I'm always worried I'll hit both by accident and they seem a lot more stiff than your average Rock Band guitar.

My friend who owns one says there are also problems with the Rock Band/Rock Band 2 manual switch it uses, though I can't confirm that or if that was just a fault specific to his one, though I've never seen another controller with this switch before.

So, unless you find regular guitar controllers too small, I recommend you steer clear of this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars DON'T get this version, hunt down the full series., 27 Jan. 2008
This is a compilation movie of Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, a OVA series set between the original Mobile Suit Gundam and Zeta Gundam.

As with all Gundam compilation movies, it has been hacked down to fit in a couple of hours and sacrifices and lot of character and great scenes from the series. If you really want to experience 0083 the proper way, track down some region-free imports of the series because it doesn't look like the full show will ever be released on DVD in the UK.
