2.0 out of 5 stars Not good for music - poor sound dynamics, 10 July 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I am a bit disappointed - it works OK but the sound quality is just not good. There is little dynamics in the sound, it sort of filters the sound in a strange way. It's good enough for taking phone calls, but I just can't listen to music from the phone using it as the low quality is noticeable for me. I tried it in the car, and connected to my sound set, and my PC, same every time. If you're after really good sound quality perhaps look around for something else.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works perfectly, 10 July 2015

So far so good - brilliant little thing. No more broken pencils in the house or struggling to sharpen them - bzzz and done! Batteries need re-charging - I use re-chargeable ones - once a month or two (which of course depends on the usage).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great - they do the job!, 10 July 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
What can I say - just great. The 9" screens are just the right size and the picture is really good quality - not HD but high enough resolution to not see any pixels at all. Default settings were a bit dark for me but you can just change them to your liking. The ability to play off USB is a game changer for me - my previous player could only play DVDs which on bumpy roads tended to have problems, of course there is no problem using the USB, and you can just convert your DVDs to a suitable format. It says up to 16GB in the description but the player has actually no problem with reading my 32GB USB memory stick.

1.0 out of 5 stars Baware of not working fakes!, 4 July 2015
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Kampa Mains to 12V Adaptor (Misc.)
Be careful when you buy one of these as mine was a fake one - not a Kampa one as advertised. It did arrive in a (rather shabby and looking used) Kampa box but inside there was a Chinese similarly looking Hanna (or so) power adaptor that basically did not work, it could not even power a mattress pump that a different <1A adapter had no problems with (although the Kampa one is advertised as 5A, and even 6A on the box) - it just switched it on and off all the time.

2.0 out of 5 stars Works well but hard to clean and "non-sticky" coating comes off, 25 Jun. 2014
With so many rather positive reviews we got this model, as price is really attractive after the discount.

We used it 4 times so far - it does the job, but cleaning the surface afterwards is a pain! We coat it with oil as recommended, but still some of the meat gets a little burnt and after a while it gets covered by a black burnt layer, which needs serious soaking and patient sponge work to get off - so it is not really as "non sticky" as advertised. Maybe if you limit usage to 10 minutes but this is a device that you use with family or friends for longer meals, not fast food!

Another problem is that after the 3rd use the surface started "bubbling" and the bubbles then burst leaving round "holes" in the coating despite being really gentle and careful not to scratch the surface. I hope none of it actually got into the food but not sure! This looks like a design or manufacturing defect, but I've seen in the reviews that this happened to other people as well. I'll be contacting the manufacturer for advise and replacement.

If I had known this, I would have gone for a model with a stone surface, or a more expensive but potentially better one from a different company.

2.0 out of 5 stars Be careful - you might get different cameras!, 2 Aug. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I ordered one camera from this sale to try it out. I received a TCL/TENVIS JPT3515W camera, which I quite liked. So then I ordered another 2 from the same sale - and I got different cameras! This time I received some no-name cameras from, as stated on the box, a "professional camera manufacturer". These we complete rubbish - they looked similar to the first one but as with most fakes, the picture quality, capabilities and software provided were awful. Fortunately thanks to Amazon I managed to return them.

The title indeed does not mention what exactly camera you'll get, but this means that this is like a gamble - you might get something decent, or something really bad. If you want to make sure you get a certain camera model, use a sale where it is explicitly mentioned in the title rather than this one!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not compatible with many IP cameras, 2 Aug. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought two of these and one did not work for some reason - although the voltage was right "on the other end" (I'd initially thought it has very high attenuation), I think that there is some interference or cross-talk in the cable and the camera connected to the other end did not want to work well. The other one worked like a charm though.

As pointed out in several other reviews, the plug and socket are not compatible with several IP cameras with which this cable is sold by Amazon "in a bundle". So it DOES NOT work with TENVIS JPT3815W - you need a 1.3mm plug. However, it fits the outdoor TENVIS IP602W camera. So be careful.

I give it 1 star less for the problem with one of the cables, and another star less for the fact that it does not fit cameras for which it is being "advertised" (although this is a problem more with Amazon than the cable itself!).

4.0 out of 5 stars Tenvis JPT3815W - you get what you pay for, 2 Aug. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
You get what you pay for - this is how I'd summarise this camera.

Cons:
- If it drops off the wifi network, which can happen if it is placed in an area where the signal is low, it sometimes "crashes" and can't get back onto the network. The only solution is then to power cycle it. This makes it unreliable especially if you use it to e.g. monitor your house while you're away and can't do that. So make sure you place it where the signal is strong. Unfortunately the firmware does not provide information about signal strength so you have to use another wifi device, like a laptop or phone, to measure signal strength.
- The Internet Explorer plugin provided with the camera regularly crashes IE after about 10-15 minutes, so it's hard to use it for constant monitoring. Perhaps this is a problem with my version of IE although it happens on both my desktop and laptop.
- The picture quality is decent, although it has some problem with colours - e.g. grass can look a bit grey or even purple-ish.

Pros;
- The camera can turn around by about 130 deg, and up by 90 deg (down only by about 20 deg) which is quite good as you can e.g. use one to monitor your whole garden. It also works upside down and the picture can be flipped to look right.
- IR works well, the picture is really clear at night.
- The web-based interface allows you to put 4 or even 9 camera views on a single screen; however it unfortunately does not allow you to resize the view to full screen!
- DDNS works great with the camera, which means you can connect to it via the internet even if your IP address provided by the ISP changes.

Setup is not trivial, the app provided makes it a bit simpler but if you want to set up DDNS then you have to have basic knowledge of how to configure fixed IP allocations and port forwarding on your router. Note that you cannot configure a static IP address for the wireless interface - which means that you have to use DHCP, and then bind an address to the MAC of the camera's WiFi interface in the router. However, I guess that in case of most IP cameras setting up external connectivity is not easy as you'd always need to configure things manually on your router. If you buy a few of these then setting up the first one will probably take you an hour or two, but each next one is 15 minutes once you know what to do.

So in conclusion - although this is not what you'd probably use for professional monitoring, it works well for "domestic" use, especially for its price! I give it 4 stars because it does have some problems that could have been removed by the manufacturer by putting some more effort in debugging the software and firmware.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but..., 11 July 2010
I used them just for a day now and am not too impressed... will be giving them back.

Pros:
- 9" screens for a decent price
- bright, can be watched in sunlight
- loud and clear sound

Cons:
- picture quality of the second screen is not good - it's like the older in-flight entertainment systems. The picture is fuzzy, colours not crisp, blinks sometimes... not good for kid's eyes I guess. The picture on the master screen is much better.
- decodes only DVDs... which means you cann kiss all your VCDs and SVCDs goodbye. Unfortunately a large portion of my kids' collection are the latter, so they were not happy then couldn't watch them on the go.
- changing disks is tricky as you have to open the player. Younger kids won't be able to do it, so you'd need to stop to swap movies (I wouldn't recommend the driver to do it while driving).
