5.0 out of 5 stars GUESS WE CAN CALL THIS LE BEAT BESPOKE VOLUME 6, 3 July 2014
this is yet another great compilation of 60s mod bands from all over britain from the early to late 60s, lots of very raw sounding 45s rob came across to put this together, i have been enjoying the le beat bespoke series since the first volume came out back in 2008 so i am glad i am subscribed to the new untouchables website and im also on detour records mailing list or i may not have been aware of this, the cd adds 6 extra bonus tracks, anyway great 60s dance soul here with some very interesting guitar solos some of these artists used, also lots of great horn and organ here as well, when i listen to music like this i start to forget we are in 2014 and this brings me way back, fantastic cd and great liner notes, rob even gives a brief essay on each artist that appears on this great 21 track cd, i tell ya i do not know where rob finds these now 50 year old 45s so since im a yank living in new york and we do not have a mod scene, im glad it is as easy as the internet to get in touch with folks like diz at detour records and other members of new untouchables so i can keep up with releases like this as i LOVE THEM, the remastering of these songs for this cd sounds awesome as it does on the viynl edition as well HAIL THE GREAT ROB BAILEY!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars POSSIBLY THE BEST LIVE SAXON CD SET., 3 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
this could possibly be the best live saxon 2 cd set that has ever officially been released, eagles over wacken a couple of years ago was great but this cd set is pure saxon magic!!!!!!! this is the best live album since eagle has landed part 3 from 2006 or maybe the live in germany show that came out in 2013 from 1990, eagle part one from 1981 will always be a total classic and also that unofficial live cd that came out back in 2000/2001 live in the raw from the 1981 tour was an awesome live show so i would say this may be the best live saxon show on cd next to that one, anyway this was recorded last year as we all know and it clocks in at 2 hours and 8 minutes so the fans in manchester uk got a saxon gig only a yank like me can dream of, i feel there was a great mix of new stuff and of coarse the usual great classics and old school stuff saxon always play, my only complaint is there was nothing on this live cd set from the call to arms album from 2011 wich i felt was saxons best since lionheart back in 2004, regardless if you have been a fan like me since 1981 and have been buying saxon albums and sticking by the band even during the bad times in the late 80s then i would think you would cherish this amazing live show, this is such a treat!!!!!!! biff is the best front man in hm and i have been saying this since the mid 80s, it really shows on this live cd and the band are so tight and play so well together that you just cant ask for more from these guys 35 years into there entering the hm community with there great debut album back in 1979, this show has so much power to it and you can easily tell the guys where very into it this night, i have every saxon live show ever released and WOW!! i am so impressed with this one!!!!!! this blows away other live saxon shows like rock n roll gypsies from 1989 and the live tenth ann show from 1990 wich was very good but if you listen to this THESE GUYS JUST GOT BETTER WITH AGE and sadly most bands dont!!!!!!!!, hail hail saxon i am so happy to add this to my collection......................................... for what it is worth it would be really great if saxon hit the vaults for some more early to mid 80s live shows as well as live shows from the forever free tour in 1992/93 or the unleash the beast tour in 1997/98 saxon played some damn good stuff then to and by 1990 saxon where cured of there american radio mtv virus by putting out solid ball of rock wich was a killer record after destiny in 1988, i also would not mind a live saxon show from that rock the nations tour in 1986/87 either...................

this is a nice cd singles set where the sleeves are replicas from the original sleeves from various countries all over the world, there is nothing unreleased here but if you are a deep purple collector or rainbow collector then i would add this to your collection, in fact i may not have bought this if i did not have the deep purple cd singles collection from 2002 and the gillan cd singles collection box from 2007, this sure took many years to come out but like the others said IT IS SUPER NICE TO LOOK AT!!!!!!, well done..........

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC COMPILATION!!!!!, 5 Jan 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
over the past 10 to 15 years i have many of these uk and psyche comps various uk labels that in some cases are still around and in others they are not, i to had to ask myself DID I REALLY NEED ANOTHER but when i read the press release from grapefruit and i was told by another amazon buyer to check into this I KNEW THE ANSWER WAS YES i had to spring for this, a few bands made this compilation that did not make any of the others and as for all the bands that made the other comps the song selection here is awesome!!!!! this discs sounds great with the remastering and all the information in the box will tell you everything you need to know, this sure was a fantastic 3 cd set to come out at the tail end of 2013, for my ears though the first 2 discs are the best and it also includes one of my favorite mike stuart span songs so buying this was a no brainer for me, i hope you enjoy this as much as i have!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars really good stuff, 21 Dec 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Unplugged And Strung Up (Audio CD)
this is a really good 2 cd set by saxon of remakes from 2001 when they re recorded the classic early 80s stuff and now all these years later saxon have gone back to the beginning and remade more songs and then some newer songs but still a lot of 80s stuff, i was thrilled and shocked they re did militia guard from the classic first album from 1979, dont be fooled by the unplugged in this title as that can be confusing to some as THIS IS MOSTLY NOT UNPLUGGED BUT REMXED AND SOME SOUND EFFECTS ARE ADDED, my favorite track and remake on this cd has to be this 2013 version of FROZEN RAINBOW it came out wonderful, im not usually a fan of these things ( meaning bands re recording there classics) but i guess i aproached this cd with better caution becouse saxon HAS BEEN MY FAVORITE HM BAND SINCE 1981 NOW, for a saxon re recorings cd in modern style i think fans new and old will enjoy this cd BUT please let me say this if you are a new saxon fan or a young saxon fan that does NOT have every album from 1979 through 1986 as well as most of the albums from the 1990s and into the 00s then before you buy this GET THE ORIGINAL STUFF FIRST as i think you will enjoy this cd better if you get into the original recordings first, the only negative thing i can say is WHY THE HELL DID SAXON DO A RE MAKE OF JUST LET ME ROCK FROM 1984??????? god when i bought the crusader album in february 1984 upon its release over here i had been a saxon fan 3 years already and i thought WTF?????? the video was even more pathetic, biff has worked so hard to restore saxon and build the band back up from a point where a lot of us thought saxon where finished by 1989 after the destiny album in 1988 flopped so damn bad that i stongly feel he should have picked a song like THIN RED LINE or MINISTRY OF FOOLS from unleash the beast in 1997 to do a remake of then just let me rock, anyway it is mr byfords band not mine but as a fan for so long and after going to saxon gigs for 30 years now ( when they come to new york) i feel i must state this. anyway im glad i bought this for my collection, the viynl sounds great to..... also saxon do a killer electric remake of the 1992 classic FOREVER FREE here wich is great as sadly that was a very overlooked record 21 years ago,..........

4.0 out of 5 stars great debut album from 1980, 26 May 2013
This review is from: Wild Horses (Audio CD)
this was a great debut released back in the spring of 1980, I really had much higher hopes for this record considering it featured jimmy bain and robbo who had put thin lizzy up top but the final product came in a lot polished and at this time we had the nwobhm and bands like saxon, maiden, chevy, samson, tygers of pan tang and all the others giving us such great heavy metal that still stands up today some near 35 years later that the wild horses kind of got lost in the middle of all of that because of there more lighter approach in the production on this album, I still have my original japan copy of this lp from 1980 and I have a cd version from around 1999 or 2000 but I had to spring for this one last time because of the demos and the rock candy packaging and remastering, it states phil lynott appears on one of the demos but I don't hear that distinctive voice on any of those songs BUT the demos are the best part of this reissue, the demos are how this record should have sounded when it was released, you can even hear robbos classic mid 70s thin lizzy sound much much more clear on the demos, in fact if these demos where recorded a few years earlier I would swear they where written for a thin lizzy album, anyway by mid 1980 when neil carter could not say no to joining ufo ( how could he???) I feel the wild horses lost a big key part of this band, neil is an awesome songwriter and he helped ufo write some killer songs between 1980 and 1982 before ufo disbanded for a while in april 1983, regardless of the two wild horses records that came out, this is no doubt the one to get, it still holds its ground today some 33 years after its release, thank you rock candy for doing this album justice one last time!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars KILLER DEBUT, 14 May 2013
This review is from: Fastway (Audio CD)
this was an amazing debut album by fastway 30 years ago already and it was without a doubt FASTWAYS BEST RECORD EVER!!!!!! sadly fastway could never top this record as they spent the rest of the 80s plugging along, I liked the follow up to this record all fired up in 1984 but still it did not pack the punch this album did in 1983, one mystery I have always wondered about was DID PETE WAY PLAY BASS ON THIS BUT GET NO CREDIT??????? some say yes some so no, anyway when I first heard this album in the summer of 1983 when this was released I had major high hopes that fastway was the next new big thing along with the likes of saxon, tank, the rods and helix for example, I really did not consider fastway another hm band even though metal was storming the us at this point and here in the new York area fastway opened for maiden on the piece of mind tour, anyway this record I also did not think was to much of a zeppelin rip off as a lot of people thought it sounded like, the only thing at this time was dave king looked a bit like a young Robert plant and he had the voice but outside of that I thought this album had a sound of its own to it, this was a very raw hard rock record I felt and this is the best reissue it has ever got, rock candy went all out on this reissue and dug up some great bonus stuff for us here, from this record fastway did pretty well over here in the us because after the maiden tour fastway then spent the rest of 83 opening for ac/dc on the flick of the switch tour, they really blew the roof off Madison sq garden on 12/5/83 as openers for ac/dc, some of these songs are timeless rock classics now such as WE BECOME ONE, SAY WHAT YOU WILL, EASY LIVIN, FAR FROM HOME and FELL ME TOUCH ME ( DO ANYTHING YOU WANT) these songs are timeless and unforgettable and really smoking, also it helped to have a line up that included jerry Shirley on drums also Charlie mcraken was on bass for this tour as well and they where tight as hell live, the liner notes this cd comes with are awesome and so is the remastering and all the bonus goodies, some great Friday night rock stuff on here from 83 when fastway hit the scene, sadley by 1990 fastway where a shell of who they had been in 83 and they broke up, THANX FOR THE MEMORIES EDDIE!!!!!!! THIS WILL ALWAYS BE A FIVE STAR RECORD...............
