A heartwarming account of life in the Hebrides. I was born and brought up on one of these islands and recognise much in the culture, lifestyle, and characters. As a community nurse, it had extra resonance with me, and I really enjoyed reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic, 5 Mar 2013

How can I write a fair review of this classic text? I happen to think Marx was a genius, and his prophecies are now coming true, vis-a-vis Capitalism. It's just nice to have ready access to this work on my Kindle; there is much to think about here, and not all of it is possible/desirable but, it is never complacent.

I didn't learn anything from this book, rather it echoes what I believe anyway! It's good to have ones views validated by others, though. This is a great, funny, little book, and would be helpful if you are going through a tough time. As I say, I happen to believe what he says is true.

This is lovely, and really easy to use. Looks good, protects the screen without obstructing the controls, I cannot find fault with it.

A good light, although a little cumbersome. The light is gentle and has a good spread, and the angled neck makes it easy to position just as you want. But, it can be a bit clumsy, and isn't especially portable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Basic but marvellous, 5 Mar 2013

This does not have 'new wave' or cutting edge meat-free cooking. However, it has an extensive range of recipes and means you will never be short of ideas for everyday meals. If I had paid for it, would be pleased. However, as it was free, I am delighted!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, 2 Feb 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Daisy's War (Kindle Edition)
This is not as good as the previous three in the series. It drags on a bit, is too detailed in parts, and doesn't really have a story to tell. The impact of the war is well documented, though, and some of the technical details are good, indicating the author has given it some thought.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 2 Feb 2013

A well researched book, even though it does show Henry and Eleanor in a more favourable light than some other accounts I have read. I am amazed Edward 1 is not better known, and that nobody has made a film about him yet. His life is a terrific yarn, full of adventure and treachery; he also did much to shape the UK we know today. Great character, if not especially likeable. This book reflects a lot of his deeds and attitudes very well, and is enjoyable to read because it is written in an intimate style - not at all text book-y.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brillaint, 19 May 2012
This book explains a complicated subject in simple terms, making it easy to understand from the start. However, just because it's a complicated subject, it doesn't mean it not a relevant subject, and I think this is. As a health care provider for over 35 years, I can recall many patients who I believe actually had hidden trauma and were being treated for something else. Put simply, the medical profession hasn't got a clue about it, and usually just write people off as either crazy, or time-wasters if a medical 'diagnosis' isn't found. I honestly think lots of ailments, from depression to fibromyalgia to ME, even cancer, can be traced back to unresolved trauma. If you, or anyone you know, suffers from a chronic disorder then read this book. It'll maybe change a life!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read, 19 May 2012

This is an astonishing book, and should be read by everyone - whether suffering from cancer or not. It combines orthodox and alternative medicines to give a comprehensive approach to not only treating but preventing cancer. However, he does say we can all only go So Far and that, if it's gonna get you, it will. In that, it offers little comfort although, it means that you should just get on with your life and not stress about it too much.
All in all, a very interesting and helpful book.
