5.0 out of 5 stars on the toliet funny, 19 Jun 2011
This review is from: The Tales of Dod (Paperback)
I have enjoyed the likes of Welsh, Castaneda, Dr. Strassman, Pelevin and recently read the musings of a book called Pygmy. This book is nowhere near their scope, ideas or literary genius but it does contain a huge amount of understanding and delicate explanation. From a time in a not so far away land from not so long ago there was a man called Dod. This being went about his daily chores with the profile and joy of a man without a plan and who's priorities were, at best, probably questionable. But as we all fumble around in this much more information overloaded age of madness and concern and with an increasingly high proportionate rate of mental illness this book will place you in the past where fellow, well, 'men', were treated with slightly more dignity and resolve than may have been necessary. A nicer, quieter, slower time. And as it transports you back to these times you will appreciate them, especially from the point of view of a young man looking at my grandfather. I imagine these tales to be true to the letter and dearly hope they are as it leaves me with a satisfied smile on my face and in my soul that some things do not change while most others really, drastically do. Laugh out loud funny for the man who enjoys the odd drink or two, maybe hears his wife too much or has had the odd run in with his in-laws or any other authority. Enjoy a life more, or less ordinary...you decide.

The Andes: As the Condor Flies
The Andes: As the Condor Flies

Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars I think the other woman gave the wrong rating (see above), 10 Sep 2007
For someone who enjoyed the book, a one star rating is a bit of a misdemeanour in my opinion. I have met this lady, if only very briefly at dinner in Bellavista cloud forest, and she certainly takes her work seriously. Lovely lady, lovely book, great, great photography. Buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blissed out, etheral hypnotism with a loving vibe., 13 July 2005

This is great in my opinion. The beats are laid back and relaxing but kick in with the utmost power that resides around tablas, ethnic horns and flutes, timpanis and gongs from all around the world. Basically, if you like to imagine you are lying on the beach in a tropical paradise or hacking through the undergrowth of a forgotten city in the jungle then you will adore this album. For years I have been chilling out to this album now and I cannot fault it at all. A cross between chill out and dance this might convert those neighbours that hate your drum and bass to hippy ethnic types talking about the good old free party scene. Enjoy and be happy this is a mood converter....

5.0 out of 5 stars All round belter of an album - hard and also relaxing, 12 July 2005
Basically this is a corker. Seems that Klute has decided that DnB is good but there is further you can go with it and he outlines this ability with great reverence. The first CD is the jungle side of things which has 3 stand out tracks which will blow you away if you have a subwoofer. The overall feel is laidback but there is a pessimistic optimism about this CD as a whole. CD2 is pure genius. If you fancy a relaxing 60 minutes put this on and you will be whisked away for a tour de force of the heavens. Best of both worlds, buy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars An album from contemplative relaxation in heaven., 10 Jan 2005

What a piece of work. Absolutely amazing. Somewhere close to 40 minutes of pure bliss. The beauty in Newmans compositions are so simple yet so very effective and will be enjoyed by anybody who soaks up sound, mood and atmosphere. I cannot tell you how much of a great addition to my cd collection this is. From jungle to techno to breakbeat and rap I've got it and now I have this. It arrived on the Saturday and by the night I had listened to it 3 times, even to my housemates approval. Buy it if you have a soul.
