I could not say "I enjoyed it" but it did give me an understanding of what it must have been like to have been caught up in such a cataclysmic event as a tsunami. The film drew you in emotionally and although the 'blurb' told you it was a triumph of human courage & love you are never quite sure which members of the family are going to come through and in what condition.
The casting is very good and even the children put in believable performances. Ewan Macgregor was as good as ever but the star was Naomi Watts and the cameraman.

To most on this side of the pond the machinations of the American political process is of little interest. When buying this product I expected the focus to be on the man and his place in the American Civil War but little of the man came through apart from his love of anectdote and persistant homely manipulative style of getting his way. I did not feel I knew the man or his times any better than before. Much of the film was a repeat of the struggle for legislation depicted, far better, in "John Adams".
It was spoilt by the liberal left ethos of today cast over it, the darkness of the filming, the extremely poor sound track, and a virtually characterless Lincoln.
What should have been an historical depiction of momentous times and the man who bestrode them is quite forgettable.

If you are a fan of Morse then this is a fascinating series of the man as a young man. To depict the development of a much loved crusty egocentric in his formative years and his hates and loves is a challenge. The well known finished product puts limitations on the writers and directors which they cope with well.
It is family entertainment which satisfies. The sound is good, the characters are well developed and I hope there will be as many episodes forthcoming as there was of Morse (Senior).

It is very easy to use - loads straight on to your computer.
It is clear and progression is steady and logical.

4.0 out of 5 stars Boys Own Stuff., 17 Dec. 2013
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I passed this one to my 13 year old grandson. This was his verdict:-

I thoroughly enjoyed the False Prince and would gladly read it again. The story is set in Carthya, a land surrounded by potential enemies. The King has disappeared and a respected nobleman is treacherously training an imposter to take his place. I found the storyline to be most effective, as the plot twisted and turned you wanted to keep reading and learn more. It was carefully thought out and well written. With the story told from the main character's point of view, you felt like you knew him, even as you found out more about him. The chapters throughout the book were not overly long. With an average of seven pages a chapter, younger readers could gain a sense of accomplishment as they read. Suitable for a wide range of ages, this book is sure to capture your imagination.

If you like mediaeval style fantasy then this is a book for you!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
What an excellent yarn. So well crafted that you are kept guessing all the way through, modern story tellers are so hidebound by political correctness that it reduces the "villain" to a narrow band of characters, this reflects the way the world has changed from the day that it was written. Really well read & thoroughly enjoyable.

A very basic and shallow introduction to Oliver Cromwell. His achievements are passed over in a perfunctory manner with very little credit being given for his visionary appreciation of the rights and responsibilities of man.

We had two dogs, one extra large one small, both suffering from loose bowel movements over two-three weeks.
The tablets were eaten without problem as part of their normal dinner. It took four applications, and it worked. Back to normal.
No unpleasant wind side effects. Recommend as a first response to such problems and will keep a supply to hand from now on.

Early in the book it unveils that great mystery of how to prepare and cook Artichokes and does it in a way that is understandable. That sets the tone for a valuable culinary resource. Reading it and feasting upon its illustration has been a joy, but it is not one for the living room bookcase, it is going to get grubby, flour fingered, greasy marks, jam stains and a technicolor Picasso masterpiece of splashes of varied textures. It is going to be used in the kitchen.
Well put together with clear instruction, where else do you find instruction as to repairing split or holed pastry in colour.
I defy anyone to look at the Leek & Gruyere tart without desiring to taste it.
Thank you Prudence. Not to forget Claire MacDonald, Jenny Stringer, and Camilla Schneideman.
