5.0 out of 5 stars HARD TO FIND GEMS ON ONE CD, 15 Mar. 2009
This is a sampler of RPM Records 10th Anniversary Catalogue of albums re-recorded from vinyl to CD covering the period of 1960 - 1978.
Over 70 minutes of hard to find music gems all taken from the original Analogue tapes in Mono and Stereo. Not a bad sound quality, nothing to get upset about.
This CD contains vocal and instrumental tracks of various styles of music found between the 60's and the 70's. There are some well known groups and vocal artist's with songs that were not top hits, but were firm favourites on the Radio, like Mood Mosaic - A Touch of Velvet-A String of Brass, an instrumental used many times on Pirate Radio in the mid 60's, and another gem Mark Wirtz - Grocer Jack Dream (instrumental) taken from the album A Teenage Opera. Couple of more instumentals to wet your appetite on this CD is Les Reed Orchestra - The Theme from Girl on a Motorcycle, and Mike Hurst Orchestra - Wednesday's Child. There are some good vocal tracks that I enjoyed, Harmony Grass - Mrs Ritchie, The Spencer Davis Group - Mr Second Class, Glenda Collins - If You Gotta Pick A Baby, Samantha Jones - As Long As You're Happy and Twinkle - Golden Lights. This just to name a few from this 25 track CD album. There should be something here for everybody to enjoy, especially if you like the oldies.

1.0 out of 5 stars CD WARNING !!!. CD WARNING !!!. CD WARNING !!!., 28 Dec. 2008
Beware if you purchesse this CD. It has been recorded from the original Vinyl Long Players. Comes complete with scratches and sound quality that is totally unacceptable for modern Hi-Fi equimpment.
Save your money and buy a new digital recording DDD that will be quality for your music enjoyment.

Another CD for the Charity Shop.
Please note the record label is what it says. "NOT NOW MUSIC" How True.

3.0 out of 5 stars 16 Mellow Soul Coolest Classics, 17 Nov. 2008
This review is from: Chilled Soul (Audio CD)
This double CD contains 16 mellow soul classics of the 70`s. I only purchessed this CD for the full 12" length version of Leroy Hutson All because of you. At this low price it was cheaper to buy this than a single.
CD1 and CD2 contains the following tracks as Amazon do not give the full listing:

CD1. 1.Curtis Mayfield - Give Me Your Love, 2.Funkadelic - Soul Mate, 3.Linda Clifford - Runaway Love, 4.Bobby Womack - You're Welcome, Stop On By, 5.The Impressions - First Impressions. 6.The Notations - Think Before You Stop, 7.Curtis Mayfield & Linda Clifford - Between You, Baby and Me, 8.Curtis Mayfield - This Year.

CD2. 1.Sir Joe Quarterman & Free Soul- (I got) So Much Trouble In My Mind, 2.The Backyard Heavys - Soul Junction, 3.Leroy Hutson - All Because Of You, 4.The Staple Singers - Let's Do It Again, 5.Gene Chandler - Don't Have To Be Lying Babe, 6.Bobby Womack - Across 110th Street, 7.Royal Delite - I'll Be A Freak For You, 8.Linda Clifford - Don't Give It Up.

You have only got to like one of these tracks and the rest is a bonus.

1.0 out of 5 stars I Am So Diappointed, 25 Jun. 2008
With so many good reviews, I am so disappointed with this double Cd recorded in SACD 5.1 Hybrid Multi-Channel. When played back on my 5.1 Sony equipment that did cost the earth, but the earth did not move for me when playing this. The sound was dull and flat. There is nothing to shout about unless you a fan. Just try any other SACD from your collection and then listen to this. I REST MY CASE.

The tracks are truly great by George Harrison in their own rights. But this Live recording in December 1991, recorded in Osaka and Tokyo, Japan had excellant musicians that included, Steve Ferrone on Drums, Ray Cooper on Percussion, Greg Phillinganes and Chuck Leavell on Keyboards and backing vocals, Andy Fairweather Low and Eric Clapton on Guitar and backing vocals, Tessa Niles and Katie Kissoon vocals and not forgetting George Harrison on Guitar and vocals.
It sounded to good to be true, and I was right. Save your money and just buy a second-hand copy if you really need it that bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two Hours of pure live entertainment at it's best., 15 Jun. 2008
This review is from: Return of the Champions (Audio CD)
I was a little nervoius on knowing that Paul Rodgers was the main vocalist, singing Freddie Mercury songs. As a Queen fan I did'nt think that anybody could sing Queen songs better then Freddie, I was so wrong, Paul has sung the songs his way and it works in his style. He has not copied Freddie atall. Paul has brought the songs back to life with his own style and keeping Queen alive with new fans.

The live recording is excellent, it is just like being there in the crowd. Paul has done a few of his own song tracks from his group Free, and with the Queen backing sound it has brouht them back to life.
Roger Tayor plays "Let There Be Drums" in his style orginally played by Sandy Nelson and Roger does an excellent job.
Brian May fans will not be disapointed with his guitar solo called "Guitar Solo" and "Last Horizon".

Highly recommed Live double CD for all the family.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing CD, 15 Jun. 2008
This review is from: The Queen Symphony (Audio CD)
As A mature Queen Fan, I was very diasapointed with this CD, it reminds me of Funeral music and Queen music is bright and alive. This is of Tolga Kashif impression of Queen music and contains segments of their songs not that you will recognise them.
Tolga is using Queen fans as the springboard for them to go out and buy this Heavy Slow Classical album. This is not for the pop world fans of Queen to rock too.
This 6 track of 57min. 46sec., is summed up well by Brian May in the CD notes. Here is a small piece:
"Imagine a composer of the imagination and daring of a Tchaikovsky, a Holst, or a Mussorgsky. Imagine him loose with the entire Queen catalogue of melodies, atmosphers and textures, and a vast orchestra and a huge choir. Then you'll be close to imagining where this work begins". (c2002 Brain May).
Need I say more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Icelands Best Kept Secret - Mezzoforte, 26 May 2008
This review is from: Forward Motion (Audio CD)
This 5.1 Hybrid Multichannel surround sound of Mezzoforte is one of the best kept secrets of Iclands male instrumental jazz funk groups.
This album 2004 is their only one every produced in Multchannel.

Mezzoforte are joined by top class musicians playing on all the 12 tracks on this album. This album has come along way from their earlier work. Mezzoforte where big in 1983 in the UK charts with Garden Party and Rockall. Forward Motion the name of this album and is just that, they have moved forward with their music. Everbody that I have played these tracks too from this album have all said "I shall try and buy a copy" but it is not easy to obtain from your local record shop.
Playing time of 59 minutes, all of which are excellant instrumental tracks.
