The Man Comes Around: American IV, 7 Oct 2006
Having rediscovered Johnny Cash since the Walk the Line film I can only assume I must have had a brainstorm not to have followed him more closely over the last 40 years or so. In my vast collection of CDs I have to say this is the one that will always be at the forefront. Absolutley brilliant from the first track to the last. The voice is as distinctive as ever although old age was fast catching up and some notes are slightly wavering but what emotion is conveyed. Every track delivered with feeling.
Only slight and I mean slight is his version of We'll Meet Again which I feel does not quite fit in with the rest. Perhaps the best version of Bridge Over Troubled Water ever!
