Alessi Watch - Grow - Blue
Alessi Watch - Grow - Blue
Offered by Luna-Pearls
Price: 90.45

4.0 out of 5 stars Funky Alessi "G'rowth" watch, 8 Nov 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Alessi Watch - Grow - Blue (Watch)
Very nice design - that's the ONLY reason why I bought it - Very very very simple functionality.
Negative: Like all watches with a plastic strap this causes sweating on the wrist.
Very overpriced but you pay
1. for the Alessi brand and
2. for the great design.
Alessi must make a fortune on this as the raw material costs plus labour on the watch must be max $5.
This is a fashion thing only

3.0 out of 5 stars Totally american..........., 8 Nov 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Well I am a 54 year old european male so it took me a while to get used to the breathless middle clas US female style of narrative but I can see why it has been such a success- it is 100% all-american and all about female bonding and friendship etc.
It is the kind of stuff that would have been serialized in a magazine 50 years ago.
Finished it, but not really for me, however I know that lots of people out there will love this book - so yes I can recommend sincerely if this is your taste - honestly.

3.0 out of 5 stars Light, 8 Nov 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is part of a series of books, some of which are better than others. I found this one ok but not more: for the amazon price a quick diverting little read, but not worth the full price for 80 pages. Can't really recommend with enthusiasm

4.0 out of 5 stars North Korea is a horrible place, 24 Mar 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Whilst I have read much about N Korea this book, written from the perspective of a young boy, is chilling. Very readable: it exposes the awfulness of daily life in N Korea and to what extent the population is in ignorance of the outside world.
The hypocrisy of the overfed leaders - look at the new one - contrasts with the day to day misery of most citizens
At the end of the book when the author gets to South Korea it is interesting to see that the northerners are looked down on and seen as troublemakers in many cases
This book and others (+ the internet) will,I hope, be a help in putting an end to this dreadful régime.
Worth the read.

Baule: African Art/Western Eyes
Baule: African Art/Western Eyes
by Susan Vogel
Edition: Hardcover

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, 24 Mar 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this out of print book, published in 1997, very expensively having seen other reviews that were favourable.
Very good and intelligent - the book does not deserve to be out of print.
Excellent and highly recommended

The Last Lecture: Lessons in Living
by Randy Pausch
Edition: Paperback
Price: 8.27

4.0 out of 5 stars Upbeat, 24 Mar 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book is inspirational and totally american in its style: nothing wrong with that. The author is very honest with himself and his analytical approach to his death is refreshing. I can recommend this book

3.0 out of 5 stars Serbia book review, 11 Nov 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
My son spent a year in Novi Sad in 2010/2011, the second city of Serbia, and was not impressed by this book. We were there for a week in May this year
This book was all we had and Serbia is not for the moment a big tourist destination
The book is quite helpful but not more, but if you are going to Serbia it is still useful but not a must-have
When visiting this country do not ever discuss politics with the locals because, if you are on the wrong side of the discussion, well beware.............

Between You and I: A Little Book of Bad English
Between You and I: A Little Book of Bad English
by James Cochrane
Edition: Hardcover

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, 11 Nov 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This amusing "pamphlet" exceeded my expectations.
It is a short book padded into a book and should be cheaper as its contents would scarcely fill 3 pages of a normal paperback

Anglo Republic: Inside the bank that broke Ireland
Anglo Republic: Inside the bank that broke Ireland
by Simon Carswell
Edition: Paperback

5.0 out of 5 stars Irish go mad, 11 Nov 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Excellent book on the Anglo disaster- I would have liked more analysis on the Anglo financial numbers - the book is by a very good Irish journalist and he does a very good job, but not enough analysis of the balance sheet of Anglo
The book will be soon out of date but the writer manages to capture the Irish cronyism that existed until september 2008
Good book to capture the Oirishness of this disaster - Sean Quinn et al - that has and will cost the Irish taxpayer bllions for year to come
Sad story
