After the amazing self titled debut in 2010, the South Yorkshire quartet return with "The Future Isn't What It Used To Be" Nine tracks of soaring epic melodies, matching textures & guitars conspiring to raise tingles.

Look past the obvious influences & jump feet first into impressively crafted album. Sonic perfection..

2013 a mp3 b-side from "Do I wanna know?"release only....Alex are you having a giraffe!!! Amazing track 2.26 min long...surely could have been tagged as a bonus track on the AM album!!!

AM definitely see's the boys back on an upward curve...pure class start to finish. Riff's, harmonies in abundance!!!

Just found out there is a version of AM with 2013 as a hidden track......gits!! Got to buy another copy of AM now....worth it though. Monkeys definitely best British band & back in the Champions League, after a couple of albums in mid-table mediocrity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Calm before the storm, 7 April 2013
This review is from: The Rapture [7" VINYL] (Vinyl)
Exit Calm have been off the radar for a while, after their blisteringly brilliant self titled debut 2010 (10/10). (Buy now if it passed you by, you will not be disappointed!))

As for the new single "Rapture" (A firm live crowd favourite), the boys are to be commended for retaining their signature sound (reverb-laden guitars & rasping/soaring vocals).A thunderous return, surely the masses will now take notice.

B side " A Lonely Port" shows a more reflective/ quieter side....beautiful in it's own right!

(10/10) Bring on album No.2

Coming afer the commercial & critical success of "West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum", the pressure was certainly on for 4th album from Leicester's Kasabian.

Wow !! They have definetely come up with goods, "Veloiraptor!" is one of 2011 must have albums, your life will be so much sweeter for having this in your cd collection / on your Ipod.

Everything has stepped up a further level for these psych lad rockers, most notable the ambition to take Kasabian to the next level...World domination.(no longer Oasis pretenders!)

Tom's vocals switching from beautiful to menacing, in a blink of the eye. Serge's experimental musical beliefs (prog/rock /folk it's all there) , at times astound..stand out tracks being "Lets roll..", "I hear voices" & "Re-wired".

After listening to this record numerous times, the only vaguely bum note (by their standards) is the title track.
Please buy Kasabians best & most diverse album to date, you will not regret it !!

1. Let's Roll Just Like We Used To 10/10
2. Days Are Forgotten 9/10
3. Goodbye Kiss 9/10
4. La Fee Verte 9/10
5. Velociraptor! 7/10
6. Acid Turkish Bath 9/10
7. I Hear Voices 10/10
8. Re-Wired 10/10
9. Man Of Simple Pleasures 9/10
10. Switchblade Smiles 8/10
11. Neon Noon 8/10

5.0 out of 5 stars Sky is the limit !!!!!!, 12 July 2011
This review is from: Skying (Audio CD)
Whilst liking but not loving previous albums "Strange House" & "Primary Colours", prefering the recent side project "Cats Eyes".

I am massively impressed by the step up in quality of all aspects of this record, production, musicianship, singing & most importantly tunes (stand outs being "Changing the rain", I can see through you" & "Endless blue".)

Badwan & crew are now creating their own epic art-rock sound & legacy, which should put a stop to all the tiresome comments /criticism that they sound like bands from the past.

Skying should be the record to make "The Horrors" become household names, buy now you will not regret it!

10/10

Massive return to form, after the rather disappointing third album "Humbug". Alex on great form lyrically (back to funny / clever wordplay) & his vocals are so much smoother than previous (akin to Scott Walker in parts...no bad thing!)
But the biggest difference between this record & the previous three, is that Jamie Cook's guitar playing has massively improved (not to say he was bad before)His mastery of his instrument, brilliantly displayed on tracks such as "Black Treacle" & "All My Own Stunts" to mention two.

Those thinking this is another QOTSA homage (Josh Homme involved again), after hearing the opening single "Don't Sit Down...". Think again this album is not a faux rock pastiche & includes some cracking tunes with a summery vibe (non better than closer "That's Where You Are Wrong".

To conclude don't be put off purchasing this amazing album; (Top 3 album from 2011 thus far...other two being PJ Harvey & Wild Beasts)

1. She's Thunderstorms 9/10
2. Black Treacle 9/10
3. Brick by Brick 8/10
4. The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala 9/10
5. Don't Sit Down `Cause I've Moved Your Chair 9/10
6. Library Pictures 9/10
7. All My Own Stunts 9/10
8. Reckless Serenade 9/10
9. Piledriver Waltz 8/10
10. Love is a Laserquest 9/10
11. Suck It and See 9/10
12. That's Where You're Wrong 10/10

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this, you just won't care, 5 Jun. 2011
Top tune, but after hearing the album not the best choice for lead off single & not representative of an amazing album.
Arctic fans will buy anyway for the b-sides alone, but beware because this time the two b- sides are well below Alex's normal standard.

Don't sit down'cause I've moved your chair 8/10

Blonde-O-Sonic Shimmer Trap - sounds like a "Humbug" cast off 6/10

I.D.S.T - Matt singing, another QOTSA soundalike....poor 5/10

Still buy "Suck it & see", massive return to form 9/10

Miles Kane or as more commonly known Alex Turner's (Arctic Monkeys) mate. After the folding of his band "The Rascals" & successful teaming up with aforementioned Mr Turner "The Last Shadow Puppets", Miles goes solo in quite stunning effect!!!

Being a debut, it's quite surprising the stellar cast offering their services, among them "Super Furry Animal" Gruff Rhys / "Oasis" Noel Gallagher /Dan the Automator & obviously Alex Turner on writing duties!!

The album is packed with potential singles & completly filler free. As for the sound, it's a bit retro with vocals in places not unlike John Lennon or John Power (Cast) if anyone can remember them!

To conclude a top notch British album,.....buy now or forever regret not investigating!!!

1. Come Closer 10/10
2. Rearrange 9/10
3. My Fantasy 8/10
4. Counting Down The Days 8/10
5. Happenstance 8/10

7. Inhaler 8/10
8. Kingcrawler 10/10
9. Take The Night From Me 9/10
10. Telepathy 8/10
