Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This controller looks superb and performs well, the other reviews imply this will have longevity which is really what I was after.

I've not had great experiences with TP-Link wireless network products in the past, which started right out of the box with the difficulty in set-up, which I did unfortunately have the same problem with here. I didn't find the instructions helpful.

But after an hour or so I had three devices connected and it's performed uninterrupted ever since.

Once again, a main selling point has to be the look and size of the product, which means this has a very minimal presence.

Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Basic, nice looking tracker, 15 Aug. 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
In general this is a very easy to use, stylish tracker. Completely basic so ideal for those with no technical skills, or simply no time to experiment. It's comfortable to wear and the rubberised band should make it easy to keep clean especially if you're planning on using it during extreme sport activities.

Additional features include time and alarm functions which might seem like a basic requirement but are not actually included with all trackers and can be very useful, say if used to monitor sleep. I've also found the battery life to be more than adequate.

In summary this is definitely a very basic tracker, but then for the price tag what would you expect. There are lot of health & fitness options this doesn't include. So this is a targeted product just to those people looking for a single device, perhaps in addition to a smartphone, one that's more portable, that tracks your activity whilst walking, running, exercising, sleeping etc.

I like this product and would recommended it.

A grainy, course face wash is sometimes exactly what I feel I need to thoroughly clean my face.

The scent and texture of the product are just right as far as I'm concerned.

Whether you get value for money is another matter. You can get products near enough in quality to do the same job available at much lower prices and from the basic/value ranges in supermarkets.

However, the reviews concerning the potential negative effects on the environment of some of the ingredients of this product and similar ones by other brands would definitely make me think twice about purchasing such a product in the future.

Quality face wipe, delicate pleasant fragrance and not fragile.

More suitable as a face wipe specifically for removing make-up rather than a general wipe, as these are just slightly pricier than others available.

Recommended brand and item.

Garnier Ultimate Blends Silky Smoother Shampoo 400ml

An all-around good shampoo, not only suitable for the precise hair length and type described.

Milk-based shampoos often (like conditioners) don't froth/foam up and you need to apply a large amount to feel an effect. But not so with this shampoo which foams up well.

Hair feels very cleansed after use.

A very nice scent to boot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like a Cloud’s Shadow when the Wind Blows…, 13 Aug. 2015
‘Fool’s Quest’ by Robin Hobb review. No spoilers.

‘Fool’s Quest’ perfectly epitomises everything I love about Robin Hobb’s works and characters. It is a hugely enjoyable, heart-wrenching novel that builds and expands on all the necessary groundwork laid in the first part in the trilogy, ‘Fool’s Assassin’ (which was by no means an unengaging read). It demands voracious reading. It is easily one of my favourite novels by the author, which is really saying something.

The setting for much more of the story (as with the second part of the ‘Tawny Man’ trilogy, ‘Golden Fool’) is Buckeep Castle and Buckeep Town, which after the events of ‘Fool’s Assassin’ set mostly in and around Withywoods, I found hugely welcome. Also of little prominence in the first part in the trilogy, but which is explored in much greater detail here, is FitzChivalry’s wit and skill abilities, particularly his wit ability and his status without a wit partner. I was hungry for such storylines and the author did not disappoint.

As to the story, all I’ll say is that about a third of the way through the novel there is a chapter entitled ‘Surprises’, which is very ironic since there is a deluge of exactly these not just during but preceding and proceeding this point in the story. If, after five series from this author, you thought she was incapable of surprising you in new ways, well, you’re in for a succession of emotional shocks.

What is proven with this second part of a new trilogy that is so satisfying for dedicated readers is that of the many new plot points and character developments brought to life, all can be traced back to the very earliest stories. In no way does this novel give the impression of being tacked on as an addition to a popular series; on the contrary, this is a very well thought out, consistent continuation of this world and these characters. If, when she wrote book one, ‘Assassin’s Apprentice’, the author never dreamt to plan this far ahead in the lives of her characters, she certainly employs her numerous writing skills to successfully convince her readers otherwise with this installment.

Most reassuring for me about ‘Fool’s Quest’ is the character viewpoints, which differ from ‘Fool’s Assassin’ in that much more of the narrative is from FitzChivalry’s perspective and thus there is less of a sense of his character being phased out of the story (as he ages) in favour of another equally prominent, newly-introduced (younger) character. Thankfully that impression is completely dispelled here; FitzChivalry is, I think, here to stay and from his viewpoint readers are rewarded with storylines that see him making his mark in ways I for one never imagined possible for the character.

So what I perhaps love most about this novel (that I concede I may be overly optimistic in gleaning from the narrative), is that this trilogy feels very definitely not to be the last depiction of FitzChilvary in print and that is a beacon of sunshine in an otherwise overcast, derivative fantasy sky.

But as with every novel by this author, despite the generous word count, it all slips away so quickly, swift as thought, leaving you desperately craving more…

5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality pouches, 29 July 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Very good price that you're unlikely to beat unless you choose something really inferior.

Very good quality in terms of thickness.

The results with my machine have been noticeably better than previous results with cheaper pouches.

End result is clear, glossy and without defects.

The Breath Co Fresh Breath Toothpaste - 75 ml, Mild Mint
The Breath Co Fresh Breath Toothpaste - 75 ml, Mild Mint

1.0 out of 5 stars Not recommended, 29 July 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Having sampled and liked the Mouthwash from the same company, I was expecting good things from this toothpaste.

Unfortunately, the good points are out-weighed by the bad.

The price, for one, is exorbitant for the size of the tube, but if you felt it was doing a good job you might be willing to pay it.

The problem is that the toothpaste doesn't froth up whatsoever. You have to use an awful lot simply to feel like all of your mouth has been fully cleaned, rather than the pea-sized amount always recommended by dentists.

The flavour is also bland.

I won't be buying this on a regular basis.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ok Candle Bulbs, 17 July 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Simple, basic screw-in candle bulbs.

Bulbs come in packs of two.

At 25W these replaced 40w bulbs in small table lamps and do just as good a job.

How lasting they will be I don't yet know.

Recommended, but not at the current price.

Philips QT4013/23 Series 3000 Beard Trimmer
Philips QT4013/23 Series 3000 Beard Trimmer
Price: £29.95

4.0 out of 5 stars Reliable product, 16 July 2015
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
This beard-trimmer was a replacement for me for another Philips trimmer that I'd been very impressed with and not felt the need to replace until it developed a fault. Despite the reasonable price it's proving to be a very reliable replacement.

This is a practical and still not an incredibly expensive option in a market flooded with similar trimmers. There is an almost overwhelming amount of choice from Philips in the way of trimmers and/or shavers. This is one of the cheaper in design but still very practical.

The Phillips however is very reliable one and I have little doubt that I'll be using this particular trimmer for years to come; it does a good job, is very comfortable to hold, not too heavy, and all around good value for money. Recommended.
