4.0 out of 5 stars a new morning, 2 July 2011
This review is from: A New Morning (Audio CD)
when i bought this album back in 2002 i was so disapointed with it. suede in my eyes were finished , a band who had run out of ideas and lost their spark.nearly ten years since it's release , a new morning is actually a lot better than its given credit with head music before it , song decisions seem to be to blame , b sides such as simon , cheap and colours would have benefited the album greatly.gone are the sleazy and chemical enhanced lyrics of the early years replaced by a summery , late afternoon vibe.a world away from the highrises and nuclear skies that brett so memorably sang about.maybe my music tastes have changed as ive gotten older but im really enjoying this , untitled is gorgeous , as is lost in tv and astrogirl.obsessions and beautiful loser are suede by numbers but give the album some much needed energy, though they would have worked better on coming up than on it is anm is a flawed but at times beautiful album by one of the great british that suede are back ,and rumored to be writing new material , this wont be tarnished with the poor last album that its been labelled.

4.0 out of 5 stars underrated, 22 Jun 2011
This review is from: Head Music (Audio CD)
head music has always been a suede album i've skipped and listened to the first three classics instead.12 years on from its release its actually a fine album that only fails through a lack of editing.two of the songs , the title track , which isnt bad but more suited to a b-side and the horrible glam pastiche elephant man would have been better left off.the album would have flowed better, and there is some superb songs on here.all the singles are good - she's in fashion still sounds as summery as ever and cant get enough is suede at their punkiest.other hilights are down , savoire faire and he's least suede attempted something diffrent here and although it doesnt all work ,maybe thats down to a band dealing with brett's addictions and neil's illness.disc 2 has some good b sides - leaving is beautiful , let go wouldnt have been out of place on coming up.jubilee and since you went away are also fine , the rest though vary in quality .dvd includes a decent live performance shown on channel 4 at the time of head music's release , interviews with the band and promo videos.worth revisiting then , head music is flawed and at times uneven , but even an average suede album is more enjoyable than most bands output .

5.0 out of 5 stars coming up, 13 Jun 2011
This review is from: Coming Up (Audio CD)
suede's third and last great album sees them ditching the moody atmosphere of dog man star and making a glam pop classic.all the singles are superb , trash , beautiful ones , saturday night , lazy ,film star and the remaining five songs are equally brilliant.its ashame after this they seemed to lose their way.the best reason for buying this are of course the extras including all the b sides , demos and a great dvd of interviews and the brilliant roundhouse gig featuring neil tennant from the pet shop boys singing on saturday night and doing a suede take on with the first two albums this is an essential purchase even if you already own them , us suede fans are really being spoiled with these reissues and its great to see the band back and basking in the spotlight.

4.0 out of 5 stars surprisingly brilliant, 28 Feb 2011
i'l keep this review short.this is the best album liam gallagher has sang on since morning glory all those years ago.beady eye are not reinventing the wheel and the beatles influence is strong ,but as a two finger salute too all the doubters ,diffrent gear, still speeding works, brillantly.highlights are kill for a dream, millionaire ,four letter word and wigwam , but all the songs are strong.your move ,noel.

5.0 out of 5 stars wii game of the year, 4 Dec 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
the wii seems to be on a roll this year with some top quality games - house of the dead overkill, mario galaxy 2,red steel 2 and the excellent return of goldeneye, but for me the game of the year on the wii is this ,dkc returns.brilliant platform action, beautiful graphics ,great controls and its refreshing to play an old school 2d platformer ( my favourite genre).ive been coming back to my wii in recent months since ignoring it for the flashier likes of red dead redemption on the ps3 and crackdown 2 on the 360.lets hope the quality games continue on the wii and more games like this are released next year.if you love video games this is essential.

5.0 out of 5 stars suede the best of, 1 Nov 2010
This review is from: The Best Of Suede (Audio CD)
my all time favourite band suede,at long last release a best of that includes ,album tracks,b sides and all bar one of their stunning singles.this is a great starting point for any new fans of the band and after buying this should really purchase the self titled debut ,the masterpiece that is 'dogmanstar' ,the glam-tastic 'coming up' and the b-sides collection sci fi lullabies which has some of their greatest songs.all essential.the last two albums ,'head music' and 'a new morning ' are patchy ,but do have a few decent tracks.

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent sequel, 10 Oct 2010
This review is from: The Descent 2 [DVD] (DVD)
neil marshal's 2005 shocker the descent was an instant classic ,terrifying and lingered long in the mind after leaving the cinema,it was perfect as it was and really there was no need for a sequel.after seeing the trailer for part 2 i wasnt too excited and gave it a miss at the cinema.surprisingly then this is excellent it doesnt reach the standards of the original but has many jumpy moments and enough blood and guts to keep the gore hounds a good old fashioned horror it does the buisness ,far more than the likes of the terrible paranormal activity and the increasingly dire saw series,a third film would be pushing it mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars slowdive, 8 Oct 2010
having heard a slowdive song on the soundtrack to mysterious skin a few years ago i always wanted to buy their albums but never got round to it,now the shining breeze is a good introduction and i will check out their other albums. ,slowdive's dreamy ambient psychedelia just blows my mind and reminds me of the verve's debut album along with ride and more recent artists like boards of canada.i cant recommend this highly enough. perfect for listening to on cold dark winter nights.

4.0 out of 5 stars the doors, 12 Sep 2010
i'm a massive fan of the doors and was looking forward to this documentary.for the most part it's good - johnny depp's narration is fine, the rare footage of jim and the band is fascinating but for me it's all over too quickly ,more in depth interviews with ray manzarek, john densmore and robbie krieger would have been fascinating especially talking about the aftermath of jim's untimely death.still if your a fan of the band it's a must see.

4.0 out of 5 stars promising debut, 9 Sep 2010
This review is from: Happiness (Audio CD)
i heard hurts single wonderful life a while back and instantly loved it reminding me off the beloved, depeche mode and mostly pet shop boys at their most looking forward to the debut and it's good ,very good in fact but my only problem is that better than love aside - which has the euphoric sound of late 80's era depeche mode aside most of the tracks sound the same, devotion with kyle minogue is the only other song thats standing out just now, maybe the rest will grow on me.still a fine debut and for once one that lives up to most of the hype.
