5.0 out of 5 stars excellent studies - can be very seeker friendly/informal, 14 Mar. 2011
I bought this book a while ago having read a positive review, with the intention of using it with a small group at some point. We are now doing the studies for Lent on Saturday nights in our house and so far (only week 2) am absolutely delighted.

The studies are well-prepared with helpful notes and things you can add it/cut out to make it fit to the time available. The questions are thought provoking and the film really lends itself to this kind of study. You continue thinking about things raised long after the study is over. We've really benefitted so far and are looking forward to the next week!

I think that as someone else has commented it's a very non-threatening study for those who are on the edge of church/faith and suitable for a wide range of ages/backgrounds.

I would also agree with the person that said it would be difficult to do this if you had given up chocolate for lent - I'd forgotten how good the film makes chocolate good! Fortunately none of us is in that position and so we've decided to make a different batch of something nice and chocolatey each week! Hurray!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent - does what it says on the tin!, 23 Jun. 2010
These guys are gifted Christian psychologists who write in a very accessible way for those of us without psychology degrees! This book is excellent and good to read as a follow-on to "Boundaries" by the same authors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, 23 Jun. 2010
This review is from: When Joy Came to Stay (Paperback)
Wow, reading this book takes you on a journey of the heart. Karen Kingsbury really helps you to reflect on some challenging issues like adoption, loss etc. I would say it's more suitable for Christians than to give as a gift to non-Christian friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent practical pre-wedding book or for those already married, 23 Jun. 2010
Very practical and down to earth. Gentle style with relevant examples of couples coming from different backgrounds. Gives good suggestions about how to talk to your husband or wife about sex - something many people find a awkward subject. I thoroughly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A lovely "soak in the bath" novel., 3 Nov. 2008
This review is from: Last Known Address (Paperback)
A lovely book. Perfect for what it is - a lovely long read of a novel where you really get to know the characters. Think Maeve Binchy but in modern America. It's a story about old female friends facing new challenges together. Part road-trip, part romance, part comedy, part tragedy. Lots of good ingredients and some nice recipes from the story included at the back is a nice touch! And great if you like dogs (or even if you don't!)
