5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best concert DVD's around, 5 Dec 2013
Just a brief summary of this fantastic DVD Live performance.

1) Floor Jansen is utterly amazing , fantastic voice , stage presence of an Amazonian , never faulted even for the slightest with the lyrics and hit the high spots effortlessly. Nightwish have found a cracker here and really hope she stays around.

2) The song selection is superb as well , although most people will miss tracks like Over the Hills etc they play a large selection of classics and the best of the Imaginaerum album with the three highlights for me been Ghost Love (score) , Storytime and I Want My Tears Back

3) The quality of the actual filming is second to none , the lightshow and the colours used is breathtaking and as good as you will ever see.

However one thing let it down for me.

Memo to the actual person or persons in charge of editing the DVD

YES WE KNOW PEOPLE CROWDSURF THROUGHOUT A CONCERT , WE JUST DON'T NEED REMINDING EVERY 8 SECONDS OR SO!!!!!

Seriously the actual filming of the band and Floor in particular is brilliant , combining the stage lighting to fabulous effect with individual shots of the band playing but for some unknown reason the editor seems to think that a shot of a random individual been held aloft by the rest of the crowd and usually shown been pulled out by security warrants so much video time , watching it from start to finish it really is disappointing how many times they think it's a really 'neat' shot to use time and time again. The actual shots of the crowd though ( I think the Rock in Rio/Iron Maiden was the first to really do this) singing along etc are well done in places , but please in future pack it in with the same crowdsurf shots over and over again ad nauseum.

To finish with this is fantastic and should be bought as soon as possible if your a fan of Nightwish or similar ilk , it really is brilliant , no encore was done which surprised me but not too sure if an actual encore was performed in real life at the concert.

A must have for transferring files from your Micro SD Card to your Computer.

USB fits well , the computer instantly finds it and does the drivers part seamlessly , the card opens up like a drive on your PC and the data transfer is quite fast.

No frills it does the job , it even looks good as well.

Well worth the buy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of time and effort, 3 Dec 2012

To start with the item from the seller arrived promptly , but the cable is rubbish , very very tight fitting in the USB port to such an extent that i thought it was the wrong fitting , managed to get it in and the computer (Win 7) found it and installed drivers etc.

BUT this is where the problems started , trying to get a single file to do anything from the card which had already got files on it , like delete a little file left it hanging for ages, before ' Card not responding ' came up every time , nothing would work , The Tablet just said 'Syncronising' and that was that.

I have no idea what this is supposed to be for now? But the (what should be) simple task of connecting the Tab to the PC and accessing the MicroSD card and transferring files is not what this cable can be used for.

Avoid.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a stunner - Grows on you like no other album., 1 Nov 2012
This review is from: Lord Of Steel (Audio CD)
Heard some very bad things about this album so took a deep breath before plunging in.

I am a huge fan of the Gods Of War type Manowar album , in fact it's still amongst my all time Fav album from start to finish so when I found they were going back to there roots so to speak, approached with caution.

I needn't have worried , this album is simply stunning , Joey's Bass really is to the fore here and has to be listened reasonably loud it's just one of those type of albums , admittedly it took a few repeated listens but I got there in the end , The Lord Of Steel which opens the album is a terrific opener and sure to be a concert Fav , the much maligned ManoWarriors isn't that bad musically , ok the lyrics are pure cheese but it's Manowar for Christ sakes we accept the odd Manowarrior type song.

The meat of the album comes with the next four tracks - Born In A Grave is simply superb , the slower Righteous Glory is a classic and then the most toe tapping song Manowar have ever done - Touch The Sky , it's huge and the only disappointment is the length at under 4 mins , Blacklist follows which could have come directly off Judas Priests Painkiller album it's that good , Expendables come next which is good but does feel slightly Manowar by numbers which is to say it's still 99% better than most of the dross out there , El Gringo is next up and WOW it really is that good , very very catchy and you can tell it's a soundtrack song , would look good on most bands CV and another concert fav.

Annilation is next up , Eric's voice is the same on this as it is on the other tracks , he doesn't hit many high notes , has a very old fashioned rough edge to it , Annilation is a great track , excellent guitar work , nice chorus as well, the album finishes with Hail Kill and Die which is as much classic Manowar that you will ever find on this album , it has all the elements we really love about this band , the chants , the pulsating drums, bass and guitar , great vocals from Eric , you can already see the crowd shouting HAIL! KILL! DIE!

To sum up this album I would ignore all the negative reviews that are going around the web on various sites about this album , they simply put can not be into the Manowar sound , perhaps they prefer the Nu Metal or maybe think it's just not 'Cool' to like Manowar , this album has ALL the things we love about Manowar , and track for track compare with the best that the band has to offer , I will say again , listen to it loud and put it on repeat playing so you listen to it three or four times straight after another , it will quickly become your Fav Metal album of all time.

Hail Manowar!

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than I thought and a couple of gems in here., 23 Mar 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Must admit I purchased this whilst browsing for some cheap reading material to furnish my newly acquired Kindle with and thought it looked ideal at the price for half dozen short stories but wasn't exactly expecting too much from first time (I think) author S.Edwards , however I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised , ok its not exactly Arthur Conan Doyle but it isn't that bad, in fact its very readable.

The 6 stories are as follows as there doesn't seem to be any info on the stories in the feedback so far.

1) Phoenix - 5 people left alive after WW3 has obliterated the planet must survive 6 years in an underground bunker without going mad 4.5/5 rated, very enjoyable read and very believable.

2) Forlorn Road - A young Arab man upon reaching 16 decides to set off to see what the rest of the world looks like , the shortest of the stories by some way I thought but that could be because I got through it quickly as i felt it was the best 'page turner' of the 6, my fav story of the six if i had to pick one, 5/5 a simple story but very very well written I thought.

3) The Confessions Of William Shaw - Superb , I truly mean that , excellently written story about a serial killer and just how 'normal' these people are 5/5

4) The Final Assignment - The weakest of the bunch in my opinion but still not too bad, a former employer of a evil corporation gets to do one last job 3/5

5) Visiting Hours - When a newly wed husband gets to choose between life and death for his beloved wife it has consequences , good story again well written 4/5

6) When The Penny Drops - An unloved violent alcoholic makes one final decision which has far reaching affect on his future , similar in length to Forlorn Road 3.5/5.

I only wish he could have written a few more as I found these six highly enjoyable , Tales Of The Unexpected would have done well to film at least 3 of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the Best Sherlock Holmes Story in the last 100 years, 15 Feb 2012
To say i found this book amongst the very best Holmes stories i have ever read ( and i have a lot believe me) goes without saying, it is simply fantastic and Anthony Horowitz has created a masterpiece.

The book is a proper page turner and comes over very well on the Kindle , to which you also get a very entertaining piece on the origins of the idea and the concept behind his writing of the novel incl the 10 rules he set himself when writing this novel which thankfully he followed through and made the book what it is.

I find it hard to believe from some of the poor rating readers that they can be true Holmes fans, perhaps after watching Robert Downey Jnr they were expecting lots of chases and miracle escapes etc. , well sorry but no, what you get is a first class novel which at first looks to be two separate stories - The Man In The Flat Cap and of course The House Of Silk but as you will find out they do intertwine at the end.

All the familiar characters are present but thankfully are handled with very great care , Watson , as has been remarked elsewhere has the perfect 'voice' it literally could be ACD writing, Holmes is just as you imagine but one regular which i think has escaped peoples notice in the reviews which i found to be the best was the part of Wiggins, the self styled leader of the Baker Street Irregulars , it has always grated to me how he and the rest of the BSI are treated on TV and in other books, those cheeky scamps, loveable rogues etc. when in all reality, knowing what there upbringing must have been like and there day to day existence just trying to stay alive , how refreshing it was to see the interaction between Holmes and Wiggins wasn't the sugar coated relationship we are expected to believe. Lestrade is treated with respect as well and not a bumbling buffoon to be shown up by Holmes. The Watson/Moriarty scene was amongst the very best that has ever been written in my opinion , and certainly added a fresh insight to that character as well.

As to the mystery of the House Of Silk, well until it was revealed i didn't have a clue, the ending of the Flat Cap mystery as well was a real shocker to be fair and i didn't see that coming either which is surely the point with a mystery story. I was really saddened when it was time to finish the story.

I wont go into the price of the kindle edition compared ..... etc etc, i bought a Kindle to read books like this and i'm so glad i did.

To finish with if your wanting a 2012 modern story aka Downey Jnr you will be disappointed, if you want something which could be taken as a lost manuscript from ACD himself this is the book for you.

Now we only need the Trow Lestrade novels to be converted into Kindle and possibly the two Moriarty novels and it will really be 89 quid well spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars The greatest Animated Batman yet., 31 Aug 2010
How in gods name has this not been given 5 stars yet??????

There isnt ONE single thing that you can have any worries about, the animation is 10/10, the way the Joker is drawn is better then anything ive seen incl the movies, he really is the personification of evil, Batman has never ever ever ever looked better, Nightwing was a fantastic touch, and Black Mask was all i wanted him to be, the story is superb and gripping. the sound is perfect, the story is brilliant and quite frankly this blows even the fabled Animated Series out of the water its that good.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the very best hidden gems from the 60's, 31 Aug 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Avengers, The Saint, The Prisioner and all the other classic 60's series all get the usual praise and rightly so but Adam Adamant seems almost like a forgotten gem, most people will have heard of the name but wouldnt be able to place where they heard it, this is a crying shame.

Gerald Harper excels in the role of a Victorian gentlemen frozen in time by his arch nemesis 'The Face' only to be thawed out in the swinging 60's to rise again to fight crime.

Able assisted by his butler 'Simms' and 'helped' by Georgina Jones his saviour in London and now personal best friend who you suspect would like more in the relationship than Adam will give, go about solving crimes and capers in The Avengers style.

Obviously since this was a 60's BBC series you will know that it has been savaged by lost episodes etc and indeed the complete 2nd series of Adam Adamant is pratically non existant which is a shame as The Face comes back in most episodes.

As usual ' Nice one Beeb ' NOT

5.0 out of 5 stars A vastly underated gem, 31 Aug 2010

The album 'Hours' for some inexplicble reason never gets the same praise as the other 'later' Bowie albums namely Heathern, Reality etc which is strange because it features tracks like this one which is one of the best and catchiest numbers Bowie has produced in a long time. He sings it right from the heart and is in my estimation a true classic Bowie number.
