3.0 out of 5 stars It's a Moleskine!, 5 Jan. 2013

It's a Moleskine notebook with a Star Wars themed cover and ancilliary notes inside. Which is cool.

However, at the end of the day it's just a Moleskine notebook.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exhaustive., 5 Jan. 2013

This review is from: Galileo (Paperback)
If your interest in Galileo is in his science rather than his character and life then this is the book for you. Exhaustive explanations of the scientific work that he achieved. I would've preferred more detail on his life and character as that would've served my current needs better.

One for the scholar rather than the dilettante.

Above average thriller. Jack Reacher is an interesting character and Lee Child keeps the plot rollicking along. Well worth a look.

In general this is an excellent product with only minor irritations.

The Fitbit accurately measures your steps and stairs climbed. It integrates well with other app based fitness tools such as MyFitnessPal. One of my gripes is that it's so small that it's very easy to lose. If you happen to be out in the the country then dropping your Fitbit will (unless you're very lucky) lead to it's being lost. That is what happened to my FitBit Ultra for which this item is a replacement. Built in GPS (or RFID) capabilities would resolve this issue.

The other issue is a predictive one rather than something born out of experience. The rubber housing that secures the device during the day doesn't seem strong enough for long term use. Bearing in mind you will remove the FitBit from the case before sleeping and then put it back in the morning then it gets stretched out of shape twice a day. I remain to be convinced that this will not deteriorate over time but I could be wrong.

Overall this item does exactly what it advertises it will do and does it well. The fact that I was prepared to get a second device after losing my Ultra goes some way to demonstrating how much I value the functionality. However, I don't think this device has fully developed to the full extent of it's capabilities. Maybe future iterations will add the functionality to achieve a 5 star review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful new play., 28 Oct. 2012

Although the book itself has been produced in a fairly ordinary playscript style the real gold is in the writing. Hayley Squires' play is a beautifully crafted and cleverly examines the fall out of the death of a loved one while serving with the forces overseas. Only an hour long this is one of the best new plays that I have had the pleasure of producing.

A perfectly acceptable USB HDD at a reasonable price. Worked first time straight out of the box.

Can't beat something like this with a big stick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Watershed Ocoee Duffle, 12 Sept. 2011

I love this bag.

It has the sort of quality feel that gives the impression that it's completely bombproof and, more to the point, waterproof. I've now had it out on a number of trips and a three day expedition and it hasn't allowed a single drop of water into it. It fits (fully packed) snugly into the day hatch of my Valley Aquanaut and gives great protection for electronics, paper products, snacks etc.

I will be buying more Watershed products as this is excellent.

4.0 out of 5 stars Summer Wars / The Girl Who Leapt Through Time Blu-ray, 5 Sept. 2011

I bought this boxset of two anime blu-ray discs on a bit of a whim since I'd heard of neither but was impressed by the favourable reviews and the quantity of awards jointly garnered by the two films. I have to say I was not disappointed.

I decided to watch them in chronological order and so first sat down to 'The Girl Who Leapt Through Time'. This was a good high school time travel romp that was very enjoyable. It did get it's plot tied up in knots here and there but in a complex time travel story that's very hard to avoid. Well worth the time spent watching it though. Probably worth 4 stars.

Summer Wars was a different kettle of fish. A very stylish looking film with some great design work. The plot was engaging and the characters entertaining. It's a cliche to say "I laughed, I cried" etc. but in this case I genuinely did. The story is by turns touching, funny, sad, sweet and really exciting in places. The director, Mamoru Hosoda, does an excellent job of moving the story along, staging some superb set piece scenes and still keeping a large cast of characters defined and interesting. Highly recommended, 5 stars.

If it was an option I would've combined the scores and given the boxset 4.5 stars overall but the rating system doesn't allow that. Suffice to say it's excellent and well worth purchasing at this price.
