4.0 out of 5 stars Works perfectly., 2 July 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Can take quite a large chicken (around 1.75Kg) and it cooks perfectly. It would have been helpful if the timer went to 2 hours & it would be useful to have had a pre-set start timer. Chicken best cooked at 150C for about 110 minutes. Any hotter and it spits and stinks!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect little hob!, 16 May 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this hob because I have just moved into a new home and have gutted the kitchen for a refit. It is excellent. I have cooked curries, casseroles, breakfast fry-ups etc. and every time with great success. The only drawback is that it takes about 2-3 minutes to get it going to its maximum setting. If cooking vegatables, pasta etc. it's best to bring the water to boiling using a kettle first. When my kitchen is fitted I shall still use this device because it is absolutely great for cooking casseroles at low temperature, say for 4 hours or more and of course you can cook anywhere where you are close to a socket, which is tidy & convenient. I found that this hob used in this way produces much better results than a slow cooker and probably at similar costs for power usage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless masterpiece, 16 Mar. 2010
I first bought the vinyl french import release of this in 1972. A speculative buy after hearing Rainbow in Curved Air, probably played by Radio DJ John Peel for all that I can remember. It was an essential play for friends staying late into the night. Those dim-lit rooms, the smoke, the music.

Days, weeks, months and years pass. Careers pass. Relationships begin and end. Children grow and leave home. And the records once enjoyed consigned to storage as life takes over.

Discovered again nearly 40 years later, this work not only sounds as fresh as the day first heard, it seems to extend as much to the past and the future as it did when it was recorded.

Persian Surgery Dervishes is an unknown masterpiece. It is vital, spiritual, emotional and timeless. In these troubled times more people need to hear this. It takes the listener elsewhere; some other beautiful place. Fall into this music and let it heal. Float on the layers of rhythm and melody. Meditate. Feel joy. Feel ecstasy.

Terry: Two keyboards + Tape machine = A masterpiece

This beautiful music precedes important minimal works by artists such as Steve Reich, and predicts the era of digital sampling (Terry is using tape loops and echo techniques in these live performances)and electronica.

I so hope this recording might still reach and inspire a new audience. We need music like this more now than ever.

Performance 2 is the best of the two CDs.

Just amazing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent little book!, 22 Dec. 2009
Another gem from James Hollis. A "must read" for therapists or anyone wishing to understand mid-life transition, wish fresh thinking provided by the author. I have only one small criticism in that it would have been a more complete volume if this stage of life had been articulated further in terms of the "whole life project", and perhaps drawing on the archetypes that surface and wane as we follow our path of individuation. Otherwise, faultless. One the best writers on Jungian Analysis in my view. A beautifully written, clear and concise volume from an excellent series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enlightening insights!, 22 Dec. 2009
This book was a wonderful find. James Hollis quite uniquely explores the essence of the human need for close relationships from an archetypal perspective. From archetypal themes such as the "going home project" that each of has incorporated within our deep (collective) unconscious, and the need to seek this through a "magical other", he carefully introduces the projections that result, and the tensions from these that come about as we attempt to love another. Referring to Jung's notion of individuation, Hollis places our personal individuation centre-stage in the meaning of the relationship project and how this is the purpose of our close of our close relationships. This book is the starting point for anyone wishing to understand relationships and as an adjunct to books that explore relationship from Freudian or Object Relations perspectives. There is a real need for books such as this that synthesise Jungian concepts. Highly recommended!!
