4.0 out of 5 stars Gross, great and gory, 17 Sept. 2013

This review is from: Maniac [DVD] (DVD)
I have not seen the original to compare it to, but I thought this was a great film. Visually very striking and disturbing, I thought Elijah Wood was surprisingly good and there are some terrific scenes. You almost find yourself on his side and have to remind yourself he is one sick puppy.
Well worth a watch.

Necrophobia #1 (Zombie Apocalypse)
Necrophobia #1 (Zombie Apocalypse)

2.0 out of 5 stars Done before, 12 Sept. 2013
I hate to be negative but I gave up halfway through; what a boring, predictable, trite novel. I think the author wanted to write about guns, the US military, and more guns. There was the odd zombie thrown in, but really, it was all so pointless I couldn't care less about the plot or the tired old characters.
Plus points - it was written well, the author has taken care of his subject matter, and clearly cares about what he is writing. Far less mistakes than I often see these days.
Not for me though.

4.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable read, 12 Sept. 2013

This is essentially a zombie story, but the plot leads you up blind alleys and turns around without warning, so you never quite know what to expect.
I enjoyed it a lot. The downside was there are a few errors in it, a few sentences not even making sense. Look past those and you have a good read.

4.0 out of 5 stars 26 reasons to like this film, 12 Sept. 2013
This review is from: ABCs of Death, The [DVD] (DVD)
Anyone wanting to watch a "film" should probably not bother with this. Being 26 short vignettes, it is very unusual - the good side being that if one of the shorts is boring you, you only have 3 minutes until the next one...
Most of the scenes/stories are worth watching; scary, gross, interesting, funny...there are a few that seem lazy or mundane, but on the whole this is well worth watching. I'm not sure I understood all of them, but I was certainly entertained.
Loved and hated D in equal measure. T was brilliant. Everyone will have their own favourites. I would say watch it with an open mind and you may be surprised.
Looking forward to the sequel already!

Heal The Sick, Raise The Dead: A Zombie Novel
Heal The Sick, Raise The Dead: A Zombie Novel

4.0 out of 5 stars A quality horror story, 6 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This was an engrossing story, very different from the usual. It starts off intriguing and goes from there - can't say much about the story itself, as you are better off reading this not knowing anything.
I thought it sagged a little in the middle, the narrative seemingly not having any direction, but stick with it and you will be rewarded.
4 out of 5 stars, well worth recommending.

900 Miles: A Zombie Novel
900 Miles: A Zombie Novel
Price: £2.99

2.0 out of 5 stars Average read, 6 Sept. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
A reasonably entertaining read, however I almost gave up due to the errors. The storyline did not sparkle with originality either, and I confess to laughing out loud at some points that were clearly not supposed to be funny.
There are better zombie novels out there; this is cheap and quick to read, but if you don't go in with high expectations, you'll get what you want.

2.0 out of 5 stars ...but be afraid of buying this film, 15 Jun. 2013
Could have been so good, but ultimately disappointing. So many plot holes and stupid elements that leave you frustrated. Not to mention Guy Pearce turning up for the money.

Delivers a few scares and is certainly not boring. The effects are good and it's interesting to watch. But a scary horror film this is not.

Zombie Transfusion [DVD]
Zombie Transfusion [DVD]
Dvd ~ Garrett Jones
Price: £5.31

2.0 out of 5 stars Not to be continued, 5 April 2013
This review is from: Zombie Transfusion [DVD] (DVD)
One to rent before you buy. For what is clearly a low-budget film the gore is fine and the special effects work.
But there are gaping holes in the plot and the grainy blurry camerawork puts you off. I've seen worse, but not many.

Zombie Fallout
Zombie Fallout
Price: £0.00

3.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating, 6 Mar. 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Zombie Fallout (Kindle Edition)
In a nutshell - good story, never boring, and a nice little book if you like your Zombies.
However - bad grammar, editing, punctuation and spelling make it quite difficult to read. Almost gave up many times so can't stand the thought of reading the sequels. A shame as the story itself was quite enjoyable.

1.0 out of 5 stars Precocious Pretentious Piffle, 2 Feb. 2013
The reviewers must have been watching a different film to me because this film is so bad I was reaching for the fast forward button.
If you're intrigued by the 5 star reviews I would suggest you rent before you buy. This is one of those "arty-farty" films that purports to be something much deeper than it is. Yes it's gross and throws the blood around but how booooooring is the story?! Are we supposed to care about another dysfunctional obnoxious american family? I like my horrors films and even warped ones - but this was just trying too hard and turned into a snoozefest. Avoid.
