1.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy crap, 12 Dec 2013

These headphones sound terrible out of the box- that's the first thing that struck me. They are also extremely uncomfortable.

Both these things were due to the dreadful plastic tips. I bought some expensive foam Comply tips for them, and suddenly they were a comfortable and reliable fit, and sounded a great deal better, because they actually sealed. At that point, they actually sounded quite nice- bass is crisp and clear (without being a soggy "17 year old chav in a beaten up old Astra" booming mess, like with horrible Beats stuff etc.). Mids were clear, and highs were clean, and without intrusive sibilance.

Because the seal was so good, isolation was excellent, and all this detail was easy to hear without having to crank the volume up to ear-bleeding levels.

Anyway, flash forward a couple of months, light daily use commuting, and the cables have already failed. This is really not very impressive, I usually get a year or more out of similarly inexpensive Sennheiser CX-300 II. I supposed I should have just kept buying those.

Summary:

They sound horrible and fit terribly out of the box.
They sound great and fit nicely with some decent tips fitted.
They died after two months of light use and had to be thrown away.

AVOID.

Hope this helps.

This isn't a very nice travel pillow. The outer is a particularly nasty thick plastic PVC material. Even if you cover it with a tshirt to make it less sweaty, the unyielding plastic makes it feel weirdly hard and bouncy, like a bad lilo, even if you let a lot of air out of it.

Look somewhere else, much better options out there.

4.0 out of 5 stars Eminently practical, 3 April 2013

This review is from: Sky Master 40 Carry-On (Shoes)
I bought this bag because I wanted a carry-on that didn't sacrifice space for wheels or a telescopic handle, and that could be easily carried for a mile or two over snow and ice, if need be- no, that really was my use case!

I have been favourably impressed, it is my go-to bag most of the time now. If I am sensible, I can pack for a week with it, and avoid having to pay for hold baggage, making things cheaper and a great deal faster/less alarming at the other end. In this respect alone, it will probably pay for itself fairly soon.

I have never really used it as a shoulder bag, I tend to wear it as a rucksack, as that seems the most comfortable and practical. The straps are basic- reasonably padded, and don't cut in, though there is no sternum strap/waist belt. This is not a bag for hiking, it's a travel bag, mind.

I tend to pack a small Fjallraven empty and folded flat inside as a daypack for use at the other end, which means that I only need to have one bag total when travelling. The useful zipped front compartment helps organise a lot of the stuff that I would normally have in another bag, anyway. The main section of the bag is divided into two separate zipped mesh compartments, which is really useful for keeping things neat and organised. Despite being a soft bag, this reduces clothes getting too wrinkled, if you pack sensibly, too.

Obviously, there are a few minor compromises here and there, stuff that could be improved, but it's important to remember that this is a jack of all trades bag. It's a shapeshifter, so the straps won't be as plush as a crazy technical rucksack. It's "sensible" in appearance, and won't win any prizes for glamour. However, it has a really nice capacity, is easy to pack in an organised manner, and is light, leaving as much of your weight allowance free to use as possible. It's also stronger and more sturdy than a lot of the "cabin max" style bags that you see on sale- although I am sure a more expensive design could do better with ludicrous technical materials and a lot of kevlar. However, the quality of the bag is certainly satisfactory for the price. It's not a Rimowa hard case, nor is it meant to be.

So, although it's a little minimal in places, this is a really useful bag, which has served me well on a load of trips so far. Highly recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great book, terrible kindle edition, 24 Jan 2013

Wh8ile I enjoyed this book, the last two lines (which are rather important) were missing. I had to go online and find a sneaky copy of the full text to be able to finish the book. This isn't exactly a good reward for not pirating books. Very sloppy publishing.

(reading it on a Kindle Paperwhite)

Freeplay Eyemax Radio With Integrated Flashlight

1.0 out of 5 stars Total crap, 29 Dec 2012
I have one of these, and the tuner is awful- I am in a very strong FM area, yet I still have to walk around the room to find somewhere where I can get a signal that doesn't just break up into hissing when I walk past.

The volume control also crapped out remarkably quickly- and drops out until you "waggle" it. I tried switch cleaner in case it was a carbon/dust/oxidation buildup, but the problem seems to be mechanical.

It's hard to screw up making an FM radio this badly :)

2.0 out of 5 stars A nice-looking item., 17 Dec 2012

This is a solid, nicely-made and elegantly-designed carafe.

However, something in the shape or the lip makes it really hard to pour from this, without at least one drip/splash, even if you have a really "positive" wrist action (settle down at the back). Not for staining liquids, like red wine, really.

Leaving aside the LOLsome gold plating, this is a perfectly good cable. It works, fits snugly in the sockets, and has hard to lose end caps. Perfectly acceptable for the money.

I pretty much bought this blind, having enjoyed the first two "Sick Music" compilations. I wish I hadn't.

Not a single giant standout track, nowhere near the standard of the first two. It has confirmed my suspicion/fear that Hospital is becoming a bit of a spent force- the last really top-notch album-length release from them was probably Yikes! or Yikes! remixes.

There are a few tracks which are pleasant enough, and work as useful fillter/bridge material in the mix, and the Danny Byrd/General Levy thing is a fun novelty, but taken as a whole, this is a bunch of wan, middle of the road fare. It's a bit like pressing a notional "liquid DnB" button on a Casio keyboard in terms of passion, ideas and hookiness. Gone is the spread from leftfield and eclectic to in-your-face bangers- the controls really only go up to "beige" here. I am tempted to say "if Coldplay made DnB..." in my best advert voice.

Don't take my word for it, obviously, taste is a personal thing. Look at the track list, check youtube etc. before buying- so you know if it's going to suit you. It might be exactly your sort of thing.

I ordered this product, got a bag labelled "USB A Female.." yada yada. It contained a USB A Male to Micro USB cable. Not dreadfully impressed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grows on you, 11 Sep 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is actually a really decent case. It's not soft and squashy as the picture might suggest, it's fairly stiff. It has an odd sort of texture, but is really sturdily constructed. The pull tab works, though it's not the neatest that I have seen.

The case fits the phone well, not screwing up the volume rocket like the Sena case that I tried. It protects the things nicely. It's sturdy and relatively good value. It's available in a variety of horrible colours- which is excellent.

I wasn't sure about this case when it first arrived, as it wasn't as pristine and neat at the HTC own brand slipcase for my old Desire. I have to say, though, both the build and colour have grown on me massively. Recommended.

Edit: Edited to correct some missing words, but also to say that this case continues to hold up brilliantly. Still recommended.
