5.0 out of 5 stars Runs Ubuntu 14.04 like a dream! But current photo is of a version of the board with ATA-133 support that is no longer available, 1 Aug 2014

Runs Ubuntu 14.04 like a dream... No driver uses. No installation issues. The built-in graphics are easily powerful enough to display HD video, including Flash video from services such as the BBC iplayer. It is also powerful enough to run Windows XP in a virtual machine for backwards compatibility to legacy software (The CPU supports virtualisation extensions). For Linux at least, there is probably little point having more computing power for office and amateur photography. I used it with a Seagate 500 GB 2.5 inch SSHD - very fast and almost silent.

Only one gripe - I received the "Revision 2.0" version of this product which lacks the ATA-133/IDE interface of the "Revision 1.0" version currently shown in the picture. I had to purchase a new SATA DVD drive rather than recycle an old parallel interface drive as I had planned. Gigabyte have also removed the ATA-133 socket on the version of this board with active cooling.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not sure that these are 1.35 V compatible, 1 Aug 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I am sceptical about the description of this item - The Crucial website and packaging does not mention low-power 1.35V compatibility. I have a pair in a Gigabyte GA-C1037UN-EU Motherboard, which operates at 1.5V, and they work fine.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Airplay compatible, 20 Jun 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was unable to get this router to reliably stream audio to a Marantz Hi-Fi system from either an iPad or iTunes on Windows using Airplay, even though this works fine with an ISP proved Thomson wireless-g router. Netgear technical support were unable to solve this problem and did not leave me with the impression that the were familiar with the relevant technical issues. Amazon have accepted the unit as a return - excellent customer service as normal.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Introduction to Linux, 13 Jan 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this book as a present for my 70+ year-old father. Like many people, he is looking to move on from Windows XP in anticipation of Microsoft stopping security patches early in 2014. With the help of this excellent book he has now set-up a Linux computer that can use all his digital photography equipment - a variety of scanners, printers, colour calibrators and digital cameras (almost none of which would be supported by current Windows versions). The book is very well written - the structure, choice of topics and assumed knowledge are appropriate to a typical computer user, not an "enthusiast". Where appropriate, more advanced topics are mentioned and sources of additional specialist information are suggested. The book also assumes that a particular type of Linux - Ubuntu 12.04 - is being used (the installation CD is provided). This choice is completely appropriate for the target audience (and is also widely used by advanced users). Choosing a specific version of Linux allows the book to be written in a much clearer and more concise manner than those which attempt to cover Linux in general. Of course there is nothing to stop the reader going on to try other types of Linux if they want to experiment - the experience gained from this book would still be invaluable. In short, "Ubuntu Made Easy" is a very good place to start a "Linux Experiment" - Strongly Recommended.
