1.0 out of 5 stars i dont see it!, 12 Mar. 2008
i dont understand what is so great about this show! its basically got a couple of weird blokes who spend most of the time dressed up as women & acting like idiots, making jokes that are mostly sex or gay related! i also dont find it funny to watch a bloke dressed up as an old woman pissing buckets on the floor of a supermarket! to me it was ridiculously not funny & pretty disgusting! anyway, there's my two cents!

4.0 out of 5 stars Well Worth Our Evening!, 29 April 2006
I'm twenty and to be honest i now cant remember what i was expecting from this film before watching it, all i knew was that it was a classic and that it was about Hannibal Lector! Well i've got to say that this really did keep my interest all the way through even though it was pretty late and we'd had a busy tiring day! If i missed one line i was desperate to ask someone what it was to be certain i was kept up! 'Silence Of The Lambs' had no section where i was starting to drift away or get bored and i generally was very impressed! I was expecting alot more 'gorge' due to the well-known nature of the film but it wasn't a horror movie based on that (though there were a few bits that showed the carnage caused), it was much more a thriller which was what surprised me! I thought that the small number of principal characters was really important as it cut any complications that a serious film with an extended cast can sometimes have! The acting was fantastic and Anthony Hopkins' eyes in this film really are something to be seen- freaky stuff! The name of the film makes sense when you watch it as i was confused by that beforehand, but overall 'Silence Of The Lambs' is a definate must-see - i'm glad i finally did!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great find!, 11 May 2005
This review is from: Enough [DVD] [2002] (DVD)
To be honest, i can't even remember why i bought this film but i'm definately glad i did! I'm generally a fan of Jennifer Lopez as she's put out some good music, however, before 'Enough' i hadn't bothered with her as an actress due to being under the impression that all her films were basic romantic comedies! BUT then i stumbled upon this!
Although at the very start of the film you may be drawn into thinking this is another slushy love story - it suddenly takes a simple, yet clever and dramatic change in direction when it moves into a story based around issues surrounding 'violence in the home' and 'child custody'!
The story begins when Slim, a single waitress (played by Lopez) falls for a seemingly perfect catch - the charming Mitch! They soon marry and all is well, until a few years after the birth of their daughter when Slim finds Mitch in bed with another woman! From that moment she discovers his dark and aggressive side which he begins to use on her! Slim decides to run to escape her terrifying situation so takes her daughter and goes to find her long-lost father! With his support she finds a martial arts expert from whom she learns how to fight and defend herself! By changing her name and appearance she finds herself constantly on the run from Mitch, until she decides its time for her to fight back!
This is a great film and i would recommend people forget what you would expect a Jennifer Lopez film to be like (if you would be expecting it to be a bore) and go and find this as its a fast-moving and interesting movie!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well, what can i say?..., 9 May 2005
If you're a keen musician or a learner wanting to become as successful as the man himself, there's nothing better to buy than this book that contains the music scores of 34 of Elton John's biggest hits between 1970 and 2002! This includes 6 number one singles such as 'Candle In The Wind' and 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me', aswell as 'I Want Love' and 'This Train Don't Stop There Anymore' from his 2001 'Songs From The West Coast' album! This book is simple for both pianists and guitarists to use, with its clear score and guitar chords (which also are good and easy to use for pianists who are just starting out)! Anyway, if you love Elton John's music then this is what you should be getting, and if you are a writer yourself then this is also a must have! Even though John and Taupin make it look easy we all know its not, but this will definately help if you're wanting tips on how to create massive hits too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Now we see what they're really like!, 14 Jan. 2005
'Teachers' wasn't a programme that i watched avidly when it was broadcast on television, but having heard loads of good things about it i decided to buy the first two series (before the release of the third) and check it out! The first time i watched them i was kinda pre-occupied with someone so wasn't really concentrating on it but then recently i watched it properly and really enjoyed it! Therefore, here is my review of the first series!
'Teachers' is about a group of young teachers who live their weekdays at 'Summerdown Comprehensive', a fictional school set in Bristol! Series One centres around Simon, an english teacher who spends most of his time discussing sex wish-lists with his mates and fellow employees, Kurt and Brian, and smoking in the school toilets whilst taking advice from his helpful friend Susan! When they're not trying to control and organise troublesome students in the day, they'll be found down at their local pub drinking! Their many similarities with the students, such as blunt laziness and constant smoking (mainly due to the limited age difference) makes for a brilliant comedy show!
This show combines fantastic acting with great visuals, especially with its clever progression through each day of the school week! The characters are fantastically amusing and work well together (even more so in Series Two) and overall it truly shows what school teachers can really be like! Its simple yet full of laughs, and Andrew Lincoln and the rest of the cast really fit into their characters and you end up totally forgetting that its a television show! I'm a huge fan of alot of television comedy but this sits up there at the top with various others, basically because its abit cheeky, its simple, its clever and its different! Oh and also... you can't beat the odd random donkey! Definately a must-see so check it out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, 13 Jan. 2005
This truly is an amazing album and it proves that quality is what really lives on! Eva Cassidys interpretation of these 10 songs shows how beautiful a voice can be and despite her death in 1996 at just 33 years old, her talent was later discovered and first released in this album in 2001! Even though all of these songs are either covers or traditional folk songs that she had re-arranged, Cassidy gives her own style to each and every one, and therefore had created an album that her fans can literally lie back and enjoy! My personal favourite songs are both 'Over The Rainbow' and 'Autumn Leaves' which are both absolutely beautiful! When you hear this album you realise just what the world lost when it lost Eva Cassidy!

5.0 out of 5 stars How can you go wrong with Whitney!, 13 Jan. 2005
Well, come on! When you've got all of her hits on two discs what else do you expect to get other than one fantastic, chart-topping album!! Whether or not she's your cup of tea, nobody can question the fact that Whitney Houston is one of the greatest female singers in the world ever, and this compilation of tracks shows you exactly why! With four number ones and nearly a dozen other top 10 singles in the Uk, this album covers an amazing 15 years worth of hits starting with her first massive selling number one song "Saving All My Love For You"!
This album is split into her two different styles - disc 1 is entitled "Cool Down" and this is where you find all of her amazing slower material including, ofcourse, the million selling single "I Will Always Love You"! Others in this section include "One Moment In Time", "I Have Nothing" and the 2000 hit duet with Enrique Iglesias, "Could I Have This Kiss Forever"! If you fancy some greats ballads then this is where you come!
However, if you're looking for some great tracks to get dancing to then flip over to disc 2 of this album which is called "Throw Down" and has all of Whitneys up-tempo tunes including her amazing number one hit "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"! This part also has massive hits like "I'm Every Woman" and more recently, "My Love Is Your Love" and "It's Not Right But It's Okay"!
This is a great album and there is only one thing missing, and thats the fantastic 1998 duet with the other top diva Mariah Carey, "When You Believe" which featured on the 'Prince of Egypt' soundtrack! A gorgeous song and a top 5 hit so its a real shame that thats not included, but thats my one and only negative point! Its pretty simple- if you want Whitney then go and buy this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money!, 13 Jan. 2005
This is the third book of this series that i own and the reason that its so much better than previous editions is because it now features both the single and album listings, giving you each artists complete discography in the one book! This obviously means that the Guinness Book now includes many more album-based artists that weren't placed highly in previous editions, and therefore definately gives a better overview of the real music industry, especially due to album sales seemingly taking over at the moment! It makes a start with a Top 10 Dvds list which will probably be made more prominent in future editions due to increasing sales, gives chronological lists of all number one albums since the 1950s, and also gives information on top selling film soundtracks, stage musicals and much much more!
If you've ever been interested in music releases or ever asked someone "what was that song called?" then this is the book for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Briliant!!, 13 Jan. 2005
Despite not being that interested in watching it when it was originally broadcasted on television, i bought this collection on recommendation and now i watch it all the time! 'Gimme Gimme Gimme' is pure genious- a hilarious comedy!
It centres around the two central characters, Linda La Hughes and Tom Farrell, a pair of unbelievably quirky housemates who together create an amazing duo!
Linda, who is played fantastically by the brilliant Kathy Burke, is confident yet with no reason! She thinks she looks like Catherine Zeta-Jones yet with her big red hair, unflattering fashion sense and few extra pounds, she's far from it!
Tom, played superbly by James Dreyfus, on the other hand, is a wannabe superstar who is as camp as Dale Winton on rollerskates! Despite desperately trying to follow his dream of being a top actor on Peak Practice, his progress lacks momentum as he cant even manage being 'third job' on Crimewatch!
They both spend eternity lusting after the whole male population of the earth which creates constant hilarity, especially Lindas obsession with Liam Gallagher (and hatred for Patsy) and Tom constant drooling over his idol Simon Shepard!
With extra characters including Beryl, their ageing landlady who earns her extra money doing 'granny porn', Jez and Suze, the horny downstairs neighbours who constantly seem to be tieing eachother up, and various others such as sexually-exploring parents and celebrity sisters, this is television comedy at its best!
If you want a fantastic comedy that'll have you rolling about on the floor and you dont mind abit of sexual innuendo, this is the perfect show for you! I was going to tell you my favourite episode but due to them all being so good i cant really! But i guarentee you'll love 'Teacher's Pet'- i can watch that one over and over again!
Enjoy guys

5.0 out of 5 stars A great beginning!, 13 Jan. 2005
I am one of the people who has only seen the films and not read the books so i'm purely going on the film itself and not how it compares to the original book! Well i really like this film and although it is obviously quite a simple introduction into the whole Harry Potter story, i think its does this really well and proves to be a great beginning! Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) is an orphan who lives with his horrible aunt and uncle! After discovering his parents' past and that he himself is a wizard he goes off to live at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! There, he befriends two other first year students, Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) and thats where his exciting journey begins! I think that Radcliffe, Grint and Watson take on these roles fantastically and really lay down the basis of their characters in order for future development!
The story is magical and inspiring and the film really shows this off with its fantastic visuals, especially when inside Hogwarts! This is the start of a great adventure in which Harry discovers the real truth of his past and the reason for the death of his parents! Its a great film that'll definately make you want to see the sequels and discover more about the life of Harry Potter!
