2.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy the current blu-ray!!! Warner are re-releasing it all correct in MID JUNE!, 8 May 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Warner released it in both the U.S and UK with the stupid, annoying dubbing on the opening scene last month (April). Being one of many complainants to Warner UK (London) office, I've just had an e-mail from them saying they are re-releasing it corrected in mid June 2014. They also sent me a pre-paid envelope & I just returned my awful blu-ray to them & they will then send me the new, correct edition with the ORIGINAL AUDIO! In the meantime, any copies being sold here or anywhere else in the UK are the bad ones and should not be online for sale! Wait until the correct edition is available from Warner in mid June, about 2 weeks' time!

Captain Phillips [Blu-ray] [2013] [Region Free]
Dvd ~ Tom Hanks
Price: 10.00

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent performance from Tom Hanks!, 24 April 2014
Playing a real life character, Hanks was brilliant as ever and the film was well made. Out of interest, my copy of this blu-ray is fine & I know a few other people who also have it & they had no problems either so I don't know how a customer told amazon it's not quite right. That must be a one-off they had as it's what it should be. amazon have a message saying they're temporarily not selling it but mine is fine!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great soundtrack to a unique film!, 18 April 2014

The Bee Gees helped tell this wonderful tale about friendship & 1st love among teenagers in South London in the early 70's. A couple of the songs were also chart hits too. But this and the DVD!

Being from South London & very near where most of this classic was shot, I can relate to it but aside from that it's a beautiful tale. The success is largely due to the great Bee Gees soundtrack which helps tell the story. Fantastic!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Blu-ray transfer of a unique British classic!, 18 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The film needs no introduction- a compendium of short stories which has been imitated many times since with films like Dr. Terror's House of Horror's & Tales From The Crypt. The PQ & sound are excellent, most exemplary for a blu-ray. A must!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb!, 18 April 2014

I had already used this at my local cycle shop as they have one there so am familiar with it. They would've charged me 30 for one but I got it here on amazon & from a good seller at almost half that price including delivery! It's easy to use & beats those silly old hand pumps any day. Don't miss out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Blu-ray transfer and good value all round., 20 Oct 2013
Firstly, the "Final Cut" is merely the Director's Cut minus the opening footage of Sgt. Howie at the police station on the mainland. The transfer is superb and we can still see a slight difference in picture quality when the few scenes that were not in the theatrical cut (-the shortest version-) appear but nevertheless very good pq throughout the film. Some special features were on the DVD but with all three versions and the soundtrack, this is an exceptional Blu-ray.

4.0 out of 5 stars The uncut DVD from Scandanavia, 13 Oct 2013
It's great to have this uncut version as opposed to all the many cut ones around the UK and U.S (which are the same print with at least 6 mins missing). I had the rare big box UK VHS tape a while back and also the Paramount U.S NTSC tape so I know how the complete version should look. There are no extras on this DVD but aside from that the print is good and clear. I got mine from a special U.S website some years ago and paid a fair price (-even then it was deleted in Europe-) but it was worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fair improvement on the PQ of the DVD, 29 Sep 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Being the first on here to actually review the Blu-ray, I can say that I compared the opening scene (beside the River Thames) on this Blu-ray to the DVD and the picture quality is a bit sharper here. Throughout the film I didn't see a lot of difference to the DVD but at least it's clear that this Blu-ray is a bit clearer and sound slightly better. The special features are repeated from the DVD. Just worth the upgrade to Blu.

1.0 out of 5 stars One of the very worst Blu-ray transfers ever!!, 24 Sep 2013
The video quality in this transfer is dreadful but don't just take my word for it- read the official review on bluray.com.

As ever the same transfer done by Universal in the U.S in the Hitchcock box set earlier this year is this one.
