5.0 out of 5 stars High-octane fantasy thriller, 15 May 2008
This review is from: Storm [2005] [DVD] (DVD)
Fast-paced, visually exciting and high on thrills, Storm is surely the best film to come out of Sweden in years. The action centres around a man who becomes embroiled with a hard-hitting heroine and soon finds himself on the run from a gang of viscious henchmen intent on recovering a mysterious box. The look of the film is just great - an intriguing mix of Matrix inspired visuals, down-to-earth city slumming and comic book stylings and the special effects used throughout are both effective and stylish. This is a winning blend of fantasy, sci-fi and action that deserves to be seen by a wider audience than simply the sci-fi fraternity.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it says on the tin!, 10 April 2008
Ok so this isn't doesn't exactly have the highest production values but it definitely one of the most fun and original musicals I've ever seen. The naked novelty does wear off fairly soon into proceedings but when you've got a cast this hot prancing about the stage in their birthday suits you can be sure that your attention never drifts! Many of the songs are hilarious with, great, catchy melodies and all of the performers really are at the top of their game. Don't go expecting too much and you're sure to enjoy this hilariously innovative musical!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic boxing drama, 27 Mar 2008
This review is from: Poor Boy's Game [2007] [DVD] (DVD)
This is by far director Clement Virgo's best work and manages to be an exciting and engrossing drama while still delving into important race issues. The lead performances are uniformly strong with Danny Glover as a man who helps the attacker of his disabled son and Rossif Sutherland as the reformed thug really driving the film forward. The drama is solid and moving and the action is intense and gripping making this an engrossing movie. Five stars!
