2.0 out of 5 stars Worth the upgrade? No..........., 21 Mar. 2015

I was hoping for more with the bluray upgrade but to be frank I'm disappointed. The picture aspect is awful but it seems most of the old classics are being released on bluray in this format. King Kong from 1933 being a prime example. I hate watching a small box in the middle of the tv screen with way too much black surrounding it. The film is a classic though, unfortunately this release isn't..... The bonus material is poor as well. We get 6 minutes worth of Ed Wood home movies and commercials (plus a black and white version of the film). I'll be sticking with my UK dvd realease which at least is in a decent picture format and has oodles of bonus features.

I have been a fan of Winger since the debut 1988 album and even got to see them live after the release of the 2nd album in of all places Peterborough. This gig was recorded live in California following the release of 2007's 4th album IV and all your faves are here including 3 songs from that 4th album. The guys really seem to be having a blast on stage and play many of their top hits including Easy Come Easy Go, Seventeen, Madalaine, Miles Away and my personal favourite Junkyard Dog. We get a brief John Roth guitar solo, a Reb Beach guitar solo and a Rod Morgenstein drum solo. Truly brilliant if you are a fan of 80's hair metal and it knocked 25 years off me just watching it. As a bonus there is an 8 minute soundcheck if you are really into soundchecks of course.......

What a cracking little classic!!! A story vaguely reminiscent of Mario Bava's Black Sunday the film is set on an island where a man arrives to find out what happened to his father who was killed (quite nastily) earlier on during a solo archeological dig (the tomb of a 700 year old vampire named Hannah is discovered, hence either of the two names this film is known as). The vampire is superbly played by the gorgeous Teresa Gimpera who I found fascinating to watch, a very attractive lady. The other leading lady in the film playing Mary was the equally gorgeous Patty Sheppard who is unfortuantely no longer with us. The male leads were also pretty damn good but the ladies stole the show. The film is very much of it's time (they wouldn't make a film like this any more unless we had an abundance of blood and boobs which I have no problem with by the way). Instead the film relies on a great cast and some wonderful atmospheric scenes rather than bloodshed and nudity. Not that there isn't any bloodshed. Even the transformation of Hannah to mist and wolf and back were pretty well dealt with. The younger generation won't watch this but people like me in their 40's wil love it, especially if they're fans of clasic Hammer/Amicus/Lumiere films. And how about that little twist at the end? The picture quuality was pretty nice on this dvd (my copy was in colour by the way) even though there is still some visible damage at times and a mildly annoying hiss in the audio but that just added to the film for me. A remaster would be terrific :-)

The Haunting is an absolute classic!! Modern Horror film makers watch and learn. This is how you make the perfect horror film... It's of the old school setup proving that what you don't see is far scarier than what you do see, relying on suspense and atmosphere over blood and guts. The cast is perfect as well from our 2 stunning leading ladies Claire Bloom and Julie Harris to their 2 male counterparts Richard Johnson and Russ Tamblyn. As a fellow reviewer has already mentioned not only do we have the supernatural events occurring throughout the film but also the personal disintegration of Eleanor, who in her fragile state of mind is pure fodder to the spirits haunting Hill House. Truly tragic to witness but acted superbly by the awesome Ms Harris. The whole atmosphere of the film grips you and it makes me wonder whether a certain Mr Sam Raimi wasn't slightly inspired by it when he made The Evil Dead, especially with regards to the ominous sound effects used quite brilliantly in this gem. This film is pure genius. I upgraded to this Bluray from my DVD copy and I was so engrossed in the movie that I failed to notice if there was any real improvement in quality, To be frank I don't really care. The overall quality of this film says it all.... As I've already suggested.. Watch and learn..... They just don't make horror films like this anymore. Now to get The Legend Of Hell House House on bluray. Another classic in the same vein as The Haunting..............

2.0 out of 5 stars If this was the Special Uncut Directors edition who's got the lame version? I might find that funny....., 2 Mar. 2015

Well I wish I'd saved my £6.44!! This was crap!!! The humour was weak, the acting weak, the plot weak, need I go on? It was far from funny, and not one of the characters at all likeable. The lead female was much like the rest of the female characters - a cheap slut. The son (a typical handsome dark haired dick) of her rival for the land the drive-in sits on turns up in a scene which attempts to make him seem likeable. A little later on she meets him again on the beach and within 3 minutes he's got her right breast out and within another 5 they were unconvincingly having sex in bed; this not long after dumping her ex. If only all girls were that easy....oh wait...in this film they are... Even Michelle Bauers character came across as a rich bitch who'd drop her panties at the drop of a hat....assuming she wore them of course. Michelle's certainly been in better films than this drivel (Sorority Babes In The Slimeball Bowl-arama anybody?). I love B movies but I'd hardly call this a B movie. B movies are mildly entertaining unlike this rubbish. Even the usual Fred Olen Ray extras were boring. Maybe I'll revisit when I'm in a more forgiving mood but I don't think that will be anytime soon I'm afraid.....

I knew after the first 5 minutes it would be dire and after 33 I just gave up. Hardly any likeable characters and the handful that you do feel sorry for take a back seat. Our lead guy is the sort of guy I personally despise so the film was never going to be a blast for me. He's a loser whose idea of getting on in life is copping off with the next dumb tart he can just because he has the charm and looks and whose sole contribution to work is turning up 2 hours late and sleeping on the job. Needless to say I suspect he survives to the end credits and maybe even gets the girl (not sure as I didn't want to suffer any further mental discomfort)? Going by the dumb genius female specimens on show they would be well matched as they are all either airheads or tarts in school uniform....apart from the mum/daughter team who seemed to be the only cast members with any semblance of an IQ. Edward Furlong even shows up as one of the fathers with kids who look only 11 or 12 years younger than him..... Classic braindead line from female bus passenger when spiders start falling on the tram roof - Tell me they're coconuts.... Sorry genius no palm trees around.....She didn't even have blonde hair....

Despite the negative reviews this film gets I loved it! Yes the effects are sometimes a bit cheesy but I've seen and in fact own films with worse.... I thought Tara Reid was awesome as the bitter and somewhat obnoxious Ex-Wife. I haven't seen her personally in anything else since The Crow - Wicked Prayer but she was great. She also seems to be slated regularly by a lot of reviewers as well but hey guys, she's awesome, Yo Tara!!! Someone out here loves you..... Ian Ziering was great too and as for Cassie Scerbo (oh mama!!) WOW, I must check more of her films out. I caught a bit of Sharknado 2 on TV a few nights back so that's in my basket now.... Enjoy............

Bad news guys - Sharknado 2 is pure drivel so don't bother!! It's a lesson in how to screw up a promising franchise with sloppy plotline and slack continuity. Stick with Sharknado and call it a day there...

This is not a review of the film itself just the Italian Dall'Angelo Pictures release which I bought. Unfortunately I didn't even get to watch the film. The only options to watch this is either in Iatlian, Italian with Italian subtitles or English with Italian subtitles. At no point can you turn the Italian subtitles off which is annoying as they are constantly there at the bottom of the picture. Pointless. This will be the last Italian released dvd I buy as it appears the Italians seem to cater for all viewing options apart from if you are not Italian. Buyers beware, avoid if you don't want the grief of unwanted Italian subtitles whilst you try to view this film..... :(

Once again, a film that promised a lot but was delivered awfully!! I was bored stiff after 40 minutes of this 105 minute drivel and ended up fast forwarding the final 15 minutes just to see if anything exciting did really happen!! It didn't :( Looking at all the other reviews which are mostly positive I cetainly feel like I watched a completely different film. This would have been so much beter I feel if someone like Jess Franco or Bill Zebub had made it but unfortunatley they didn't. I wouldn't watse my time or money guys...... I wish I hadn't.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Inject The Venom Maria!!!!, 31 Dec. 2014
This review is from: Black Widow (Audio CD)
On the first couple of listens some tracks grabbed me straight away. The likes of Black Widow and Bones for example. Pure throat grabbers that never let go. Other tracks like Sex Metal Barbie, Sexual Hallucination and Big Bad Wolf took a couple more spins but now I rate them equally as high. In This Moment have topped the superb Blood very successfully, moulding the sound they developed on that album into this beast!! I am a 47 year old Metal Fan and I love In This Moment. And this is official - Maria Brink is the hottest, sexiest Metal Babe on the planet. My own little Sex Metal Barbie xxx Keep it up Maria and guys...............
