4.0 out of 5 stars Accuracy?, 24 Jun 2011
Small, convenient. Accuracy suspect as I apparent weigh 0.6lbs heavier naked than with light clothing. But are you really concerned about less than a pound?

4.0 out of 5 stars The green, green grass of home, 24 Jun 2011
Does what it says on the bag. Applied with Scott rotary spreader, possibly a little more than recommended although using recommended setting. Moss kill most effective. Grass feed OK but no better than many others.

3.0 out of 5 stars Unique Ray Anthony, 20 Feb 2011
I wanted DC7 to replace an aging 78 (yes it's that old) and this was the only place I could find it. The CD is a compilation of US forces broadcasts so each number is preceded by an announcement, often overlapping the intro, and advertising recruiting programmes.

Sound is remarkably good for what it is, and is reasonable consistant.

A pity there's not a better source.

4.0 out of 5 stars DreamWeaver Basics, 20 Feb 2011
I nearly gave this book a five star rating. I have several books on Dreamweaver and, with the exception of the Missing Manual on CS3, this is by far the best.

So why didn't it get a 5? There are a couple of minor errors and ambiguities. The errors are obvious if you read carefully and the ambiguities are useful in as much as they make you think why something didn't work as forecast. Sorting these out is simple and they are a valuable part of the learning process.

This book goes much further than I need but is useful in showing the capabilities of the program.

Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Home phone solution, 16 Jan 2011
We all expect modern electronics to 'work out of the box', and these did.

Set the time and all handsets are set. Store a phone number and it is stored only on the one hand set until you send it to others. Useful if a handset is dedicated to an individual, a personal directory, but a pain if you want all to share numbers such as Doctor, police, etc. Display features large characters, easily read, and shows what is going on, e.g. line in use, incoming call (as opposed to intercom), answering, etc.

With so many pest calls. or do you want to win a holiday in Albania, the ability to listen to the answer phone on any handset, so you can pick up Aunt Agatha, is a distinct advantage.

Easy to set up, thoroughly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beginner's essential, 16 Jan 2011
Do read the intro! The opening section deals with some of the new features in CS5 and I completed this as an exercise before realizing that it wasn't, though all the instructions were there.

Proceeding to the first exercise was back to square one with a description of the menus and work space, essential if you have never met the program before but can be skipped if you have. From then on the exercises take you through various features and leave you competent in basic image creation.

This is an essential starter and there are many other web sites that will teach you other tricks and techniques to 'free your imagination'.

Recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars How cool is this cooler, 31 Aug 2010
As a laptop cooler this is great. My MacBook Pro is just warm to the touch after several hours use. The fan is audible but not intrusive. The powered USB hub is useful and, when in use, powers the fan. Where this cooler falls down, at least for me, is in holding the laptop. In spite of rubber facings my MacBook slowly slips down into my lap. It really needs a lip to stop it. The cooler is easily dissembled and I will add a couple of pegs to stop this.

Another slightly annoying feature is when the laptop slips I have to pick it up to put it back. If you just push it back the front legs of the cooler collapse.

In spite of the above comments I'm happy with it and would buy again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Limited use, 21 Aug 2010
I had problems with Dreamweaver, not restricted to CS5, and did not find the help I needed. Unlike other 'for Dummies' books I have used this skipped a lot of the basic information you need to build a web site.

Rather than go on with detailed criticism, I would suggest anyone needing help with DreamWeaver should exhaust the help on the Adobe web site before spending money. In particular launch one of the CS5 templates and study the code and references. I found this more help.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, 21 Aug 2010
I was very disappointed in this book. I had specific points on which I needed clarification, beginners questions, and this did not provide the answers. The book is beautifully presented but written by an author who is so expert she has forgotten the questions novices ask. Screen shots show pages full of content but without telling how they got there. I think this type of book needs to clarify why you should do something rather than just telling you how to.

One side bar asked, "How do I....." and told you it was a good idea but without telling you how. Dreamweaver for Dummies, by the same author, is not so pretty but covers the same ground, with nearly the same criticisms, but is better value for money.

I actually found more help on the 'free' Adobe web site.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Choice Dip, 13 Nov 2009
This is a set of books that you can read from cover to cover if that is your wish but the more effective way is to read the introduction of each volume and then dip in to find what iterests you at the moment. Eventually you may find that you've dipped into everything! The advice is concise and sensible and I am sure you will find it a worthwhile addition to your reference library.
