LG 43 inch 4K Ultra HD Smart TV WebOS (2016 Model) - Black

4.0 out of 5 stars Great value. Great picture, 19 July 2016
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The purchase of this 43inch LG television was to place an 8 year old 37inch Samsung set. Despite the 6inch size increase, this TV was pretty much the same size as my old one.

Initial Set-up:
LG have done a decent job of walking you through the set-up process. The TV was connected to the internet and displaying channels correctly in no time at all and used simple everyday language to perform the configuration.

Picture Quality:
Out of the box, I found the skin tones to be slightly orange and blacks hid too much detail. After a few tweaks to the settings though I'm very impressed. This isn't a top end set and will never match the top end sets in quality but it is still very good. Both SD and HD pictures are up-scaled. The HD pictures give great detail and really show the TV off. I've tried 4K inputs from Amazon and YouTube as well but the relatively small size of the screen stops you from seeing too much difference. Amazon includes HDR as well which the TV is capable of displaying.

Sound:
This is much better than my old Samsung set. Dolby digital and DTS can be processed internally and a reasonable amount of bass (relative to the set size) can be produced by the speakers. Again, I had to tweak the default settings as the default settings needed a high volume for my wife to hear speach comfortably.

Interface:
Web OS 3 is used to provide smart TV functionality. This gives a clean interface that is generally easy to use but isn't perfect. One of the biggest issues with it is that some applications only rely on arrow key navigation but others only rely on mouse style cursor navigation. On one or two occasions, apps have re-started due to lack of memory. This is annoying but probably represents one of the ways that LG have managed to produce the set at this price point.

Remote:
A standard remote is provided but interface is better suited to the 'wand' style LG remotes. If you have a smart phone, it is definately worth installing the LG TV Plus app as this gives you the missing wand control, a quick way of changing channels, input sources and smart TV appsappThe phone also gives a way of displaying your smart phone photos.

TV Viewing:
Both Freeview and FreeSat can be used with this television! When you use either of these, you have the option of plugging a hard drive into the TV to use is as a DVR. iPlayer, ITV, Channel 4, and Channel 5 catch-up services are included as part of the smart TV app selection.

Overall:
I purchased this as a Prime day deal. Overall this set represents great value for money and gives a viewing experience better than televisions that only 1-2 years ago would have cost 4 times as much.

Shirt received was wide fitting on the arms, tight on shoulders and wide on chest and slim on the stomach. I'm a slim build so cannot work out the body shape that this was is intended for. Normally have no problem buying shirts.

5.0 out of 5 stars It positions itself just right by being smart without trying to compete with your phone, 12 Feb. 2016
I have the black Pebble Time Steel with both leather and metal straps. This watch is a device that I would rebuy straight away if lost or damaged. It positions itself just right by being smart without trying to compete with your phone. The watch is not not touchscreen and doesn't have the screen resolution that you will find on Apple and Android watch devices. What it does give you is a well thought out interface, applications that match the device type, an always on display that is visible in bright sunlight, and a week of battery life between charges.

The main interface of the device includes a quick to access time line showing past and future eventsimilaruding all items from you phone's calendar), a built in activity and sleep tracker, alarms, stopwatch, notifications, and music controls. On top of all that you can install apps from the Pebble app store. Some of the apps are pointless items such as games (why play them on a watch if you have a phone?), but many are useful. Example apps include remote controls, sports trackers, local information, reminders, and note viewers. If using the watch with an Android phone then voice input can be used to respond to text messages and set reminders.

Finally, the device has a concept of smart straps that can be used to add extra features to the watch as desired. A number of straps are currently in development via Kickstarter projects to add heart rate monitors, NFC, QI charging, and simular features.

When smart phones first appeared people often asked why you would want one when a laptop could do it all. Now, few people would go without one. This device is similar. Now I own one, I always prefer it to a phone alone.

Only negative would be that although you have 1000s of watchfaces to close from, only a few dozen or so are decent due to the limited resolution and colour range of the device.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value, 5 Jun. 2015

Streaming over WiFi works well. Selection of apps is good and includes some useful items such as iplayer, tune in radio, Dlna / NAS drive players, and a live TV streaming app. Amazon services included are instant video, Amazon Mp3 purchases, and photo viewing for images uploaded to Amazon's cloud drive service. The stick also allows screen mirroring from mobiles and casual gaming from either the control or a Bluetooth game controller.

For the price, it is good value given that it includes a decent remote.

The main negative that I should mention is the limited parental and payment control set up. Basically you have one pin that covers both.

4.0 out of 5 stars great, 2 Dec. 2013
I've purchased the gamer pack with 2 controllers, Killzone, and a camera. In addition I also have a a cond hand Vita purchased especially for this console and a PS Plus subscription.

The console was quick to set-up and easy to navigate. If you want TV services, the likes of Lovefilm and iPlayer are available to download. So far, the camera is a bit of a gimmick and doesn't add much more than a few minutes entertainment with the Playroom app.

So far, the games have been good. With PS plus you get a couple of free games from the start with more promised over the life of the subscription. I also have Killzone and Battle field 4. These both show big technological improvements over the PS3 despite it Benny early days for the console. All 4 games played work perfectly with the Vita as well.

Of you have a smartphone, an app allotted you to use it as a controller for the menus or a keyboard for text entry. This works fairly well but could be a bit better.

Finally, I have a USB powered headset from my PS3 that uses optical input for the sound source. This works perfectly well as a headset in the PS4 but be aware that, at the current time, remote play will not work from standby mode when the headset is USB connected as the PS4 startup asks who is using the headset before the connection to the Vita is established.

Expower(R) New release Black Wireless Charging Pad QI Standard Charger for Google Nexus 6 and Nexus 5 and Nexus 4 and Google Nexus 7 tablet 2013 version Samsung galaxy Note4 note3 S5 and S4 and other QI Device

4.0 out of 5 stars using with Nexus 4, 2 Oct. 2013
Charging pad is about the size of a mobile phone and has a colour changing led at the bottom to indicate status among with a micro USB input for power which will work with existing USB chargers as well as PCs with the correct output voltage.

The charger works well and my phone doors not get too hot. I've had no issues with positioning that seems to be a problem on some other QI chargers.

One major issue for me though is that it gives off a loud beep when charging starts so I can't use it as a bed side device as hoped. It is also with noting that mine did not come with a UK plug. It did however include a travel pouch and a small stylus.

4.0 out of 5 stars hd movie streams, 3 Aug. 2013

I'm using this from 2 extension leads so speed much lower than 500 (as expected). However it works very well with my nas drive and allows HD movies to stream without stuttering.
