1.0 out of 5 stars Very poor digitisation ruins this edition, 24 Dec 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Buyer beware.

Dozens of transcription errors make reading this edition far more of a chore than it ought to be. Wrongly digitised letters, whole incorrect words, and occasional meaningless repetitions, as well as footnotes which do not reflow when the font is scaled, but are truncated.

Very poor quality from such a reliable publisher. Choose any other edition.

1.0 out of 5 stars You will be better off paying more for a better model., 15 Mar 2012
There's a basic design fault with this. The construction of the mask part is not strong enough, so the strap draws the mask in a narrow line tight across your eyes. When I put this on, the fabric is actually pulled tight against my eyeballs, the top falls down from my forehead, and the bottom is drawn up from my cheeks. It's uncomfortable, and does not completely block the light.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not work as intended, 24 Feb 2011
I'm afraid this product doesn't work at all. After applying, screen sensitivity is reduced by more than 50%. Most buttons require several touches to activate, and the corners of the screen (including the close / minimise / restore) buttons are completely inaccessible. In addition, none of the three capacitive stylus that I have will work through this product, and the sensation of touching it is very odd - a distinct vibration like a mild electric charge. Dispatch and purchase have been very well handled with this supplier, but the product just doesn't seem up to the job. I will be returning it and will update this comment (if possible) with the result of that procedure.

4.0 out of 5 stars No short stories included in this edition, 14 Nov 2006
This review is from: House of Meetings (Hardcover)
Just a minor point of order: I bought this edition expecting, from widespread reviews, that it would include two short stories in addition to the main novella ("In The Palace of the End" and "The Last Days of Mohammed Atta"). Disappointingly, they were not included.

While not up the standards of his most glittering fiction (Money, London Fields, Time's Arrow and Other People, for me) this is markedly better than Night Train or Yellow Dog and does contain some passages of exquisite prose.
