A good aid for typing texts on a Android phone. Before I got the pen I had trouble typing texts. Touching the screen on the phone was sometimes not positive and would type nonsense. So now with this pen I can type texts with ease.

Swinging UK / UK Swings Again [DVD]
Swinging UK / UK Swings Again [DVD]
Dvd ~ Harold Baim
Price: £12.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Swing On 60s!, 9 Mar. 2013
Bought for me recently as a present. Was on my wish list. Good to see 60s pop groups performing in colour and not the usual black and white images one mainly has to put up with being most 60s shows were recorded on that type of media.

Most of the groups performing are well-known apart from a few which I never heard of. My older siblings may remember them! The groups that are featured include The Hollies, Lulu, The Applejacks, The Swinging Blue Jeans, The Tornadoes, Brian Poole & The Tremeloes and Eric Burdon & The Animals. Most sing two songs and are introduced by Alan Freeman, Brian Matthews and Kent Walton. It is Great Entertainment for all who grew up or was a teenager in the 60s. Loved going down memory lane. Nice to see the groups performing their songs rather than listening to them on the radio because I wasn't old enough to appreciate them and become a fan.

There are two separate shows on the DVD and some interesting bonus features which were also good fun. Liked the feature on the Jugglers And Acrobats. That was very interesting!

Going back to the main feature of this DVD - hope more of the same will be available to buy!

Tiger Bay [DVD] [1959]
Tiger Bay [DVD] [1959]
Dvd ~ Hayley Mills
Price: £3.69

5.0 out of 5 stars She Reminds Me Of Me!, 24 April 2012
This review is from: Tiger Bay [DVD] [1959] (DVD)
I love Hayley Mills (as an actress). Got most of the films she starred in and this one is one of them. The character she plays reminds me of me! She is playing a young girl who innocently gets involved in a murder. (She witnesses it). She becomes friends with a foreign man who, after coming home from working on the ships, finds his girlfriend has another guy and during a row, kills her with a gun by mistake which was originally aimed at him. This gun belongs to her new fella but it is the murder weapon and he tries to hide it. Hayley finds the gun but gives it back after the befriending. Her father, John Mills plays the inspector who has to investigate the murder and has to interview Hayley's character who tries, deliberately, to put the blame on the man who actually owns the gun. She doesn't want her foreign friend to get the blame even though he did it! The storyline is good and shows a good late 50s/early 60s way of life. Anyone who was a child in that era would definitely relate to this. I certainly have, thats why she reminds me of me!

This has recently been on TV. This DVD features non-professional footage of the attack on the Twin Towers. It shows New Yorkers reaction to the attack and during the fall of the Twin Towers which became a problem for those who were not in the buildings at the time. The dust cloud that followed was very bad and caused alot of breathing problems to those who could not find shelter or outrun it. It shows the viewer who could not comprehend how horrible it really was both in and out of the Twin Towers.

The Killing of a President: Complete Photographic Record of the JFK Assassination
The Killing of a President: Complete Photographic Record of the JFK Assassination

5.0 out of 5 stars Slaughtered!, 24 April 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This is a very enlightening book about the shooting of John Kennedy. It features lots of photos (some that are rather graphic) and details of a possible conspiracy. It is an in depth account of the before, during and after the shooting and poses questions on why certain things did or did not happen. It investigates and shows more than one attack on the President. NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED - VERY GRAPHIC PICTURES OF THE PRESIDENT DURING AND AFTER THE EVENT. If you are not faint hearted then this book is a very good read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tragically True Lives And Deaths, 24 April 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This book was purchased because I wanted to know more about poor Barry Evans (Doctor Series/Mind Your Language Fame). It obviously covers his rise to stardom and tragic fall but this book also covers the life (and death) of many more: Diana Dors, Kenneth Williams, Charles Hawtry, Peter Sellers and Benny Hill to name a few which all had issues in their lives which ended tragically. Surprisingly, it also mentions Richard Beckinsale. He did not have any issues only medical ones which led to his early demise. Oliver Reed's entry is very enlightening. A good book to read but very sad especially when most of the deaths could have been avoided.

Never seen the Ed Sullivan Show until now. Bought this DVD because I like both The Supremes and the Temptations. Good historic performances from both groups but would loved to have seen them perform together! Obviously one does not see all of the Ed Sullivan Show just the sections where The Supremes and The Temptations feature. It also combines numerous shows - the performances are from various Ed Sullivan shows. Would recommend to any Supreme/Temptation fan but don't expect a Supreme/Temptation song because they are performing separately and not together which is a shame because I do like those songs as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just For Fun - At Long Last!, 24 April 2012

I have been waiting ages for this film to come out on DVD but of all place in America?! Why can't our british films be produced over here? Not much of a story but to see all our 60s idols performing and singing is great! I like Joe Brown singing to all his 'girlfriends' and tried desperately to get the song but its not available. May be on a B side of one of his singles. Found the song 'Hully Gully' by Jet Harris and Tony Meehan on the B side of one of their singles so there is some hope! Loved the film and remember sections of it when it was first shown on TV in the 60s. Must have been about 7 years old when it was first shown so thats why it appealled to me! Performances from various singers/performers: The Tornados, Bobby Vee, Kenny Lynch and The Springfields to name a few. Also appearances from Alan Freeman and Dear Jimmy Saville. A must for all who love the 60s music scene.

On the Buses - The Complete Series [DVD]
On the Buses - The Complete Series [DVD]
Dvd ~ Reg Varney
Price: £22.00

5.0 out of 5 stars "I Ate You Butler"!, 15 Oct. 2010
Recently on my wish list - now I own it! I was quite young when this series was first shown on TV but I still remember how funny it was and still is. I have not managed to view all 11 discs but of what I have viewed seems very confusing? The first discs are in black and white then the next discs are in colour. I am now up to disc 6 with the series reverting back to black and white!! Apart from that the comedy is brilliant with Reg Varney, Bob Grant, Stephen Lewis, Doris Hare, Michael Robbins and not forgetting Anna Karen. I also own all the films that were made which are also somewhat confusing. In the first On The Buses film Olive is pregnant and she has a baby son called - would you believe 'Arthur'. In Mutiny On The Buses, it is mentioned Olive is expecting again but, in Holiday On The Buses the 'baby' Olive was expecting is not in the storyline and young Arthur is somewhat older so what happened to the 'baby'? Apart from that the Complete Series and the films are extremely funny and good value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Young JL, 20 Sept. 2010

If I needed someone to love - not John's lyrics but he desperately needed his parent's love. This film shows the young John Lennon torn between his mum and dad when he was five years old. This doesn't become evident until near the end because common knowledge tells us he was raised by his Aunt (and his late Uncle) which happens to be his mother's sister. He discovers his mother is living not far from where he is living with his aunt and starts up a friendship which is cruelly snatched away by her tragic death which happened not far from where his aunt lived. All Beatle/John Lennon fans would know the facts depicted in this film which only focuses on the period of John's age between 15 to 17 years (with occasional flashbacks when John was five). This film shows the insight of a young boy growing up without his mother's love. It shows his raw emotion and dispair, confusion and hate for, not only society, but also his mother and aunt. Very compelling but has omitted one other person who featured in his life during the latter years - Cynthia. Not sure whether she was on the scene at the time of his mother's death but would have liked to have her featured in the film. Anyway the film ends with the death of his mother.
