The Day Of The Triffids - The Complete BBC Series [DVD]
The Day Of The Triffids - The Complete BBC Series [DVD]
Dvd ~ Dougray Scott

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable, 1 Nov 2010
Firstly this does not completely adhere to the book.

With that said what we get is an enjoyable little Mini-series by the BBC. Those who come to this with an unbreakable demand to see the book put to screen in its most purest sense will be left annoyed, but those with a more open mind wanting a bit of sci-fi, Horror fun will enjoy this version. The reviews I have seen so far here seem to be from the book vs film crowd who I have sympathy with many books I like having their names dragged through the mud by their on screen counterpart. It has to be said though that I also believe a film (Or mini-series in this case) must be viewed on its own merits.

This version depicts the collapse of society and the rise of the Triffids with great pacing with characters that hold your interest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Doing the right thing is easy, well MAYBE not., 20 Sep 2010
Recently all stories to do with 2000AD's Judge Dredd line up have been convincingly impressive.

One thing that makes this a must for any dredd-head is the wealth of history that this storey draws on, I don't want to give anything away but many characters from the past make a re-appearance.

Plot

Dredd now older in his early fifties ever since the events of the origins storey arch is beginning to question some of the harsher laws of mega-city one such as the cities treatment of mutants. This puts him at odds with most other Judges and a good percentage of the "normal" citizens of the Mig Meg. This storey is about how old stone face decision to make a stand against a law he knows to be wrong will effect him and those around him.

This is simply a must buy for any Judge dredd fan and I am eager for the Next Graphic Novel to continue on from Backlash to the Cursed Earth.

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Fable 2 is an outstanding game the visuals alone are breath taking.
The gameplay is easy and enjoyable, not to mention the world you play in.
I already own the add ons included in this addition from XBox 360 live and they add to the game no end.
Both are excellent and different. If you dont buy off the online market place or your a first time buyer this is for you.

Happy purchase and gaming.

4.0 out of 5 stars Introspective rather than explosive!, 25 April 2009
A re-imaging rather than a remake. But viewed on its own rather enjoyable and thoughtful. Not a film for the slow witted or action addict. Many complain of the CGI for the Gort effects and for these they may have a point. Most of the action segments of the film seem somewhat forced. But that is not the main angle of the movie. The film is about change and responsibility. Both on humanity and Klatu.

If your looking for a Sci-fi with a bit more than explosions to offer I advise trying this otherwise leave it as it wont be for you.

Enjoyable and thoughtfully introspective.

First off this is not the DH or DHII that fans know and like, but is infact a new version. DH personality does change dramaticaly in this storey as the newly born alien cyborg tries to understand what it is. By the end of the book, DH certainly can be seen taking the first steps into a more familiar version. As for the storey and artwork, WOW, I certainly hope their is a green light on DH 3.0. as I would at least be interested in more, yes!
