Great machine, pity about the ink cost, 21 Sep 2012
Based on recommendations in published printer reviews about its quality and running costs, bought this to replace a 12 yr old Epson. Looked forward to the upgrade in print quality and access to the other facilities it offers - scan, copy and e-fax, which are all as promised and print quality is great, particularly photos. Was concerned by some of the Amazon reviews saying it was difficult to set up but had no problems with getting wireless printing to work. Only problem was when second PC was set up to print to it and communications with printer stopped - link was still open but nothing happening. Eventually traced it to the Windows XP tick box designed to stop unauthorised print access and, once that was ticked, the printer was back in action. Taken aback by the price of replacement ink cartridges - 5 per set and cost approx £65 for the XL size set, only a third less than the Amazon cost for the printer itself. Still on the freebie small cartridges that came with the printer so will have to see how long they last before putting the XL size in. Looks as if cost in use may be higher than expected, and certainly more than the now deceased Epson, but not able to quantify that yet.
