Really good quality bias binding, very smooth and soft finish, not stiff like some bias binding. Nice colour depth. Does the job.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent grill, 2 Mar 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
It was interesting to put this new kitchen gadget to the test, in view of Tefal's claims. The grill offers a choice of six automatic programmes, together with a manual setting and a frozen food setting. The automatic programmes are for burgers, poultry, bacon, sausage, red meat and fish. The grill heats up very quickly. You put the steak into the grill - I found that three piece of rib-eye fitted into the grill at one time. The grill measures the thickness of the steak and the cooking dial changes colour as the steak cooks. It bleeps as the steak reaches the stages of rare, medium or well done. I have to say that the steak I cooked was absolutely spot on and I thought the performance of the Optigrill to be extremely impressive, taking all the guesswork out of cooking steak. Unlike many similar grills, it is also very easy to wash as the plates are removable. The drip tray slots into the machine and is also easily removed to wash it. I would have been happy to give this five stars, except for two things. Firstly it is quite chunky and does take up a lot of cupboard space and secondly it is rather expensive and would probably only be justified if you eat a lot of grilled foodstuffs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money!, 27 Feb 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Have always been impressed with the performance of Tefal irons and this model lives up to expectations. It produces excellent results - the quality of the soleplate speaks for itself as it glides over fabric so easily. You have to keep your finger on the trigger to produce steam, but you very quickly get used to this and it isn't a problem. Steam production is good, removing stubborn creases easily. The real bonus of this iron is the fact that you don't have the cord to contend with - seems to make the ironing so much easier! The iron docking base clamps easily onto the ironing board and you do have to remember not to stand the iron upright on its end whilst ironing -it has to be returned to the dock so it keeps charged - but this is quite easy because it is fixed to the ironing board. Not cheap, but the bonus of being cordless is worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it says ..., 17 Feb 2014
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I find it a bit difficult when trying to use a heavy duty stapler because it tends to 'bounce back' of the surface I am trying to staple onto. However, this gadget makes it very very easy to staple anything. I wish I had had this when I needed to lay an awful lot of carpet underlay last year - it would have done the job in half the time. You may not use this every day, but when you do need it, it will be well up to the job. It is very solid and well built and should last forever!

Dremel Hobby VersaTip 6 in 1 Heat Tool
Dremel Hobby VersaTip 6 in 1 Heat Tool
Price: £32.95

4.0 out of 5 stars Versatile, 3 Feb 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I bought this tool for use in my art projects - I was tempted by the additional functions available on this when compared with basic heat tools. The extra cost of this when compared with basic heat tools wasn't prohibitive and I think this will be much more useful and versatile. It seems to be very well made and durable - but I guess only time will tell. Nicely presented in a storage box.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does the job, 3 Feb 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Was going to buy some new scissors as mine were struggling to cut cleanly. I was a bit doubtful that this would be any good, but decided to give it a go. Glad I did - I have so far sharpened four pairs of scissors with it and they all perform much better now than they did before - saving the substantial cost of replacing all my dressmaking scissors.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good quality bags, 3 Feb 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Good quality polythene bags with an easy closure. Although these are described as Zip Lock, they do not actually have a zipper closure (as did previous bags I have bought) but then they cost much less than the bags which do have a zip closure. They stay closed when fastened and seem quite durable. Fit for purpose at a reasonable price.

Pyrex 250 ml Kitchen Lab Measure and Mix Beaker
Pyrex 250 ml Kitchen Lab Measure and Mix Beaker
Price: £4.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful, 3 Feb 2014

I wanted a measuring jug for smaller quantities and this fits the bill perfectly. The measurements are graded in quite small increments down the side of the beaker, which makes it very easy to measure quite small quantities more accurately than in bigger measuring jugs. It doesn't have a handle, so is slightly limited in its use, but even so I think I will use this a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely book, 3 Feb 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have always been a fan of Annie Rigg's books because her recipes work. This is another great book full of super recipes for very tempting sweets. The recipes are quite sophisticated and therefore, this is really a book for adults, but within the grasp of an averagely competent cook. The orangettes turned out very well and were much appreciated, as was the nougat (more difficult to make, but so much cheaper than buying it!). Looking forward to working my way through the recipes.

Got fed up with cheap hole punchers that kept getting stuck on the paper so I bought one of these - does the job well, seems sturdy and well made. I think you get what you pay for and this is good value - looks like it will last for years.
