5.0 out of 5 stars Solution for Paracord Man Knitting, 11 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I was looking for a solution for hiding the end threads of paracord and this seems to be it so I bought two of them. I am sure that it has got many other uses, but for those who have stabbed themselves with an unsuitable tool whilst trying to hide paracord thread ends will find this invaluable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tip Saver, 11 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Most of my walking doesn't need the metal pole tips, so to give me a better chance of not digging the pole in on soft surfaces, especially peat, I use these rubber tips, which also save the metal tips from wear. They add little weight to the pole, but are one of those useful pieces of kit that you didn't know that you needed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Missing Manual, 11 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
The Canon S95 is a lovely camera let down by the fact that there is no printed manual; a sign of things to come I fear. This book makes an excellent replacement for the manual and then some, in fact I am glad that Canon didn't supply a manaual in the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bought in Error but..., 11 April 2014

I ordered this in error instead of the Makalu, but it is not a bad pole at all, with the build quality that you would expect from Leki. There's noting to complain about with this pole, and it should give years of use as both a walking pole and holding the end of the tarp up.

This review is from: Mid-life Cyclists (Kindle Edition)
You can't help a wry smile when reading through this book. As one of those that has decided to re-capture his youth by taking up cycling in my mid-50s this book rang many bells for me. The only good thing is that I enjoy cycle touring, which means that I am supposed to be riding slowly, though probably not wheezing as much!

National Cycle Network is one of the best things that has happened in cycling for many years. Usually quieter, sometimes off-road routes get the cyclists around the country. Often complex and running out of the way though, the routes can be difficult to follow. Some of the signage is great, some less so. To make sure that you don't get lost these paper maps are the answer, even if you only use them as a backup to your GPS' toasted route. The maps are coated so the rain runs off them. There are inset sections where complex parts of the routes, i.e getting out of cities, are blown up to give you a better chance of being on the correct road if you missed the signage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Impressed, 11 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have had many Garmin GPS units. I wont buy any other brand as I have used Garmin's warranty service and they are without doubt second to none. There is much more to this route than meets the eye and once you find what the unti is capable of it becomes even better value. I toasted a route, uploaded it to the GPS then went off to ride the route. As you come up to junctions the unit beeps and it shows you which way to turn. There are no maps built in, but route toasting in advance will help you get there. I got the idea from VeloGPS. Being a bit old fashioned I prefer to use batteries than GPS, but this is how things are going these days. The bracket that comes with the GPS comes with spare bands of different sizes so you should be able to fit it to in many different places.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cyclist's Shield, 11 April 2014

After having a number of close shaves whilst out riding my bike I decided that the time had come to be seen even better than I already should be with at least one light at each end of the bike. This waistcoat is a good investemtn in your own safety at thi price. The quality is very reasonable for the price. At least now the other motorists shouldn't miss me, but perhaps that should be shouldn't hit me?

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Light, 11 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Living in a place with more than its fair share of power cuts I decided that a battery lantern would be better than the upturned torch that I currently use. The base part is well made out of aluminium and the overall quality is really good. Beware the brightness though, it really is bright. The best bit is the green LED that flashes every few seconds so that you can find it in the dark. The flash is unobtrusive though as opposed to those you find in smoke alrams. Twisting the knob on top turns the light up for torching and down for lanterning. The only downside is that it is fiddly getting the base unit back on when you change the battery. There is a hanging loop in the ruber base unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars No More Round, 11 April 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
When the round analog kitchen clock broke down I decided that I wanted something different so when I spotted this digital rectangular clock it fitted the bill perfectly. The built in temperature gauge is useful too. What I found really good was that how easy it is to set up when you get it, and then change the time when the clocks spring forward or fll back. Complaints? None at all. It's excellent.
