All the best elements, 12 Aug 2013
I'm not sure exactly how Sophie Hannah manages to combine the elements of crime, psychological thriller and great story telling that I like most, but she does, and she's done it again with 'The Carrier'. There's sharp, biting wit; suspense, coincidence, suspicion; the return of Charlie and Simon; elements of a classic multi-suspect who dunnit combined with very modern concerns and careers.
And there's a main character that you know you aren't being manipulated into liking - someone real, flawed and properly interesting. Someone whose inner life is a frighteingly accurarate represenation of the dark sides we all have - as well as our human longing for justice.
