5.0 out of 5 stars It works, 31 Aug. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
3rd battery I have bought recently and this is the first one which performs as I would expect. Fully charged it gives me around 3 hours.
Previous purchases have not fit the case properly and more importantly not worked - either not charging past a certain level or giving 'not charging' messages, or both. This charges up as expected, and holds the charge.
Received very quickly - I was expecting a bit of a slow post but it took 2 days on supersaver.
This is a few quid more than other similar batteries on Amazon and elsewhere but I can say from personal experience I wish I had bought this one first.
Highly recommended and a third of the price of the manufacturers replacement. Always a bit of a risk buying 3rd party replacements as you are never sure of the quality but I am very happy with this and it is in a different league to others I have purchased.
I am using the Aspire 5920G btw.

1.0 out of 5 stars Seriously dont bother, its rubbish!, 30 Aug. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Hmm, the temptation of a replacement battery for a very reasonable price got to me - I dont normally bother buying online unless there are reviews available (two versions of this on the site, the other has no reviews), but hey its a battery, it either works or it doesnt. Well guess what...

For starters it doesnt quite fit flush in my laptop (5920G), not a massive overhang but it protrudes a mm or so from the battery area. Not a big deal I thought, as long as it does the job. The battery came with some charge, my laptop said 65%, then 69%, then back to 65%, then up to 70%. It also said that the battery wasnt charging. If it wasnt charging why did the indicator rise? If it was charging why did the indicator fall?

If you need your laptop for business/college etc and you need reliability then dont bother with this piece of tat. If you are only really using it around the house and random battery indications and possible unreliable charges dont bother you then it is cheap and you may get some use out of it. I personally havent got time to sit and monitor this for a few days to see how it performs, and am just grateful for Amazons excellent refund/return policy.

Waste of time and money - dont make my mistake - one star is one too many as its not fit for purpose.

5.0 out of 5 stars Who cares what I think, my son loves it, 25 Aug. 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Well if ever there was an incentive to behave nicely, go to bed at the right time (and stay in it), use the toilet, brush teeth without a row etc then some gold stars on a laminated board are certainly it! We have had this about a week and its the first and last thing my 3 year old asks about every day, how many stars he has earned and how many he can get by doing x y and z.
Nice little chart - does the job it was intended for, and provides a bit of focus for the little un. Bad behaviour means we take stars off (we dont take prisoners in this house!), please note the chart is reusable but the stars arent, so if you are going to do the same then you may want to get some extra stars as well.
V fast postage also, got it the next day from ordering.

4.0 out of 5 stars An improvement but not quite what we want, 12 Aug. 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
I cant be too negative about this game as it is a good game, it is all about comparisons and expectations.

Compared to the predecessor, Dragon Rising, it is a vast improvement. Compared to the original OF, it is still not as enjoyable or engrossing, how the heck that can be after all these years and the budgets available to codemasters is beyond me, but hey ho.

I think the other reviews cover off quite nicely the graphics/mission design etc etc so I wont bother repeating.

This game has been out 2-3 months now and the price has dropped to a point where I think you cant criticise too much. If you are a fan of the series you will probably buy anyway or have bought this already. If you are weighing it up then i would say have a go for £20, if you want something at a slower and more thoughtful pace than COD/Battlefield etc. Personally though I play COD I much prefer something like the co op missions on Graw2, and this would be the nearest thing I could compare to. Unfortunately this will probably end up having little long term support from players or developers, just like Graw 2, but that doesnt make either a bad game.

Good fun if you like a more measured approach to your shooters. Not sure it has massive replay value, im glad I didnt pay full price, but you cant go wrong if you dont either. The last game in the series told me not to rush out and buy any further releases in this series full price on day one, and this game has convinced me to do the same with the next one also. Codemasters need to pull their socks up a little and get back to what made this series such a massive seller in the first place, all those years ago on PC's which were like TV remotes compared to todays kit. The success of the first one probably damns codemasters a little as it will always draw comparison, but if they didnt want comparison perhaps they shouldnt have put the Operation Flashpoint name on these newer games.

3.0 out of 5 stars Well made, but gets boring quickly, 2 Jun. 2011
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: L.A. Noire (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
I cant say this is a bad game because it isnt.

Graphics and sounds are very good, game world is very well drawn and detailed (though very few of the buildings are more than eye candy, dont expect GTA or RDR levels of interactivity). Where this game is lacking is on the variety and entertainment side of things.

Regardless of the crime, there is pretty much a set pattern to the investigations. You examine the scene, you are then told where to go next, who to speak to etc, and once you get down to interrogating people it is pretty hard to mess up, as your character drives the dialogue based on a simple truth/lie/doubt selection from you. You are awarded a star rating, and have the capability to revisit a case to improve your rating but seriously, who is going to bother once they know who did it and how, it isnt interesting enough the first time to warrant a replay.

There are a selection of quick street crime side missions, which provide a little more variety, but even they got boring after a dozen or so.

I am a bit tired of shoot em up type games and have been crying out for something different with a slower pace and a bit more thought required, so expected this to be right up my street, but ultimately it is repetitive and boring. So disappointed, as I think with a little more polish and variety this could have been great, but at the moment it is just a case of appearance over gameplay, and that is never going to hold the attention for long. Traded after less than a fortnight.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, and for the price can you fault it?, 20 July 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Bought this on the strength of other reviews, and am impressed with it. Seems well enough made (for a lump of plastic with some fans in the middle), and while I dont expect it will withstand heavy travelling or any sort of weight against it while in the laptop case, it is great for home use, especially in hot weather. You must have this on a flat surface though, anything soft underneath will stop the fans spinning.

I havent carried out an exact check on the temps, but my laptop has gone from too hot to touch, to feeling almost as cold as when its off - plenty good enough for me.

Only 4/5 as sometimes it vibrates a bit and the fans can get a bit noisy, slight adjustment of the laptop usually sorts this out, but not every time. At this price if you had to buy one every year or two it wouldnt be the end of the world.

Also received within 2 days, nice and quick, no worries with the seller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb, get it ordered!, 21 May 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Even though I have only played a few hours sometimes you just know how good a game is going to be from the off, and this is fantastic.

I have seen it described as GTA in the Wild West, and I cant really argue with that. Similar idea of having a main story thread which you can pick up and put down, along with various side missions. There is also the fun to be had from just riding around, with no real purpose, just doing stuff you come across on the way (ie hunting). I dont want to give anything away so will not mention anything about the story, other than you have a few gentle tutorial style missions initially, and then thats it, you are straight into the action.

The game looks great (there are a few glitches here and there but jeez to get a piece of work this large and detailed to be perfect must be nigh on impossible) and the sound is also excellent.

The attention to detail that Rockstar add to their games is what makes them so special, and for anyone who enjoyed GTA style games, this is going to be right up your street.

Multiplayer - I have only had a brief go but it works fine on day 1 - which is good, and seems a lot of fun also with various game modes. Personally I bore of deathmatch style play, so the objective type games are a really welcome addition.

If you are considering buying this then Im sure you pretty much know what to expect. For those who like to sit back when a hyped game comes out and wait and see how it has turned out I just want to say not to worry, they havent messed this up, so get it bought, you will not regret it. Enjoy, I certainly am, and expect to be for months to come.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wait and see if they fix it, 23 Oct. 2009
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
Dont rush to buy this game yet.

As many of the reviewers have mentioned, it is a decent game, but it is not finished.

As things stand, 2 weeks after release, the multiplayer doesnt work on XBL, it took codemasters a week to admit this, and the latest is 'we arent sure why it doesnt work, but are looking into it'. At the moment if you are lucky enough to get into a game, or if you set up a private game, there are only 2 maps on each of the 2 game types.

Thats ok in itself, but there are a lot of flaws in the single player game. It is a decent game if you can put up with some flaws, but IMO it is not a patch on the original on PC, a bit of a shame when they have had 10 years or so to work on this!

Graphics are decent, but not jaw dropping. Personally i am more concerned with the gameplay than the looks, but the dodgy AI, moody save system which doesnt always work, 101 bugs and glitches etc etc etc take the shine off what could and should have been the game of the year. Very short also, took me less than 8 hours on normal difficulty, and I wasnt rushing, im sure others have done it in 5-6. One other plus, the sound is very good.

This game appears to have been rushed out to beat COD by a few weeks and boost sales. I would have preferred them to wait until it was finished.

Have a look on the codemasters forums before buying. It seems they are working on a patch to fix some of the many bugs and get multiplayer working. They also intend releasing some dlc in the next couple of weeks. Wait and see if it does actually get fixed before purchasing or the chances are you will be as frustrated as the majority of people who bought it on release. Good chance the price will be back below £30 as well by the time it is worth buying.

Ps - google operation flashpoint 2 mission codes, and the 6 retailer codes for the extra missions are freely available. I finished all 6 in 45-60 mins or so, but hey they are free!

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth buying, but not perfect, 19 July 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This is a good game for fans of the series, and fans of the genre. Decent graphics, gameplay controls are good - some games with a choice of weapons can be fiddly but not here.

Downsides for me, the missions are a little bit samey, only really 4/5 types - rescue him/blow this up/steal this car etc. Good fun but does get a little repetitive. Also the save system can be a pain, once you die it saves, then you continue, then it loads, then you retry your mission which saves/loads again. Not a massive issue, but can get frustrating on some of the harder levels.

I havent spent much time on the multiplayer, but what I have played is very good.

Overall a decent game, just suffers a little from repetitive missions in my view. Fair play though for trying something different, the destructable environment works very well and it is hard to have a serious criticism of this game. I believe that a lot of downloadable content is planned for this game which hopefully will add some variety to the single player, but even if they dont release anything special on DLC this is still worth a buy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Be aware of control issues, 28 Jun. 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
For those who havent played the demo.

The option to change your configuration from stick to button control is gone. All punching/blocking is controlled by the right stick, and to be frank it doesnt work. Have a look on the EA games website, they have really caused a stink with this.

Single player game is affected to an extent, but still fun. Where this game really struggles is online. If you want to fight using a combination of blocking, weaving and picking your punches, im afraid you will lose. If you want any sort of success you need to just throw straights and hooks in quick succession, once you get a rhythm going your stamina and health will remain high, your opponent will remain low, and eventually he will fall over. Im not saying the game isnt fun, it is, but if you are expecting to win online through skill, forget it.

Hopefully there will be a patch out to address all of this, but i wont hold my breath. A real shame, as the rest of the game is superb, but these are pretty important things to get wrong imo.
